What: DMLE Murder Mystery night
Who: Employees and plus 1's of DMLE employees
Cost: N/A
Where: A fancy Magical hotel in London
Why: Murdock feels bad about working his employees.
When: 5th October

He hired a party planner, and his secretary signed off on the concept without really thinking about how people who investigate crimes for a living might feel about this bus mans holiday! There will be fairly simplistic, comedy based scenario- every attendee is expected to come as characters from Dickens.
There is a prize for guessing the 'killer' and the best character costume

The activity and dinner will take place before, during and after. Some dancing afterwards

What: Living & Dead Mixer
Who: Spirit Div hosting, invited are:

— ghosts in good standing who were not involved in the procurement of the midnight ride horses for the last one, because Spirit Div is still salty about that
— living society-types and Ministry employees
— this is not particularly lavish so while UC folks are invited it's probably more likely attended by MC society/WC-MC Ministry folks.
— no one is checking invites here so if you want to crash it, feel free.

Where: Hogsmeade Memorial Ballroom
Why: To promote understanding & good relationships between the living and the dead, and also because Halloween.
When: 27 October 1891

The ballroom on the floor is reserved for living dances while an illusory dance floor directly above hosts spirit dances (it's mainly there so you can't accidentally see up a ghost woman's skirt). The music is decidedly more modern than their last party and the food is definitely safe for the living. Living attendees can optionally get a scavenger hunt card with facts about some of the prominent dead attendees, which they'll have to complete by filling in the name of the spirit involved. It's meant to bolster cross-conversation between the two groups and the first one to complete it gets a prize (probably a nice bottle of wine or something).

What: Devine Halloween Ball
Who: Ophelia hosting for UC society types.

Where: The Devine home in Wellingtonshire
Why: Halloween

Mostly this is a Typical Halloween Party, with appropriately lavish spooky decor and themed hors d'eouvrs. It's dimly lit because it's spooky. The string quartet are ghosts. Costumes are required for entry. The one magical twist here is that if you spoil the fun by removing your costume (or even elements of your costume) during the party, the venue will "helpfully" get your back in the spirit by conjuring illusory injuries, hexes, etc. You won't feel these but they'll look real to you and anyone else who sees them.

Who: Benevolence Montague is hosting a dinner party for MC and UC types with an interest in horticulture, herbology and/or potioneering - planty people or patrons of planty people! If you are into plants and not antagonistic to Benevolence safe to assume you're invited.

Why: Benevolence needs an excuse to hostess an event

Drinks, Starter, soup, main course, dessert, cheese and port, more drinks and the display of some rare exotic plant specimens she got on loan from some collection or other for all the nerds of ohh and ahh over.

What: Funeral of Mrs. Cartwright
Who: Henrietta's oldest sister took the reigns on organizing it, as the Least Useless Cartwright. If you had a family connection to the Cartwrights or either of the two families Henri's sisters married into you're invited to the funeral, UC society types who aren't excessively purist (aka anyone who might have been on good terms with Mama) are invited to a reception at Hermione nee Cartwright's house to follow. It's not like we're taking invitations at the funeral though so if you happen to be wandering by and want to stop, go for it :P

A home in Wellingtonshire - reception
Why: Self explanatory.
When: 6 October 1891

Laying the body of Mrs. Cartwright to rest and then returning to commune with her spirit. Mrs. Cartwright's ghost will not be in attendance at her funeral because she has pronounced that garish (and because she expects her three daughters to spy on the guests and report back who seemed to be experiencing extreme emotion so that she can hold it against them later). The ceremony will be brief, which is good because rain will start falling midway through and be coming down fairly heavily by the time they all retire to the Wellingtonshire house. Henrietta will remain thoroughly soaked for the reception and be looking like a drowned rat dressed in black crepe. At the reception Mrs. Cartwright will regal the guests with stories about her life, and expect to be lavished with attention from all sides. Finger sandwiches will be served along with light refreshments. There will be no liquor because this is not a celebration.

What: A capricious old bint, Mrs Grint, who doesn't like many people, has sent out a swath of letters to anyone she can think of - the letters, when opened by the addressee will make the person believe they are dead, complete with a cause of death.
Who: Anyone she can think of! She is MCHB - with pretentions of being a socialite but she isn't good at it, so any Upper or middle class society member, or anyone's name who may have appeared in the paper or WW for just about any reason, including WC staff who may have been interviewed/given statements etc

Where: Where ever you open the letter
Why: She held a party, and no one came and she is MAD AF.
When: Letters arrive 20th of October

How quickly you realise it's an illusion will depend on the character and the cause of death she gives you. It's a chance to gently mess with someone or traumatise them.

Who: Hosted by the History Club for any Hogwarts student who wishes to attend. British Ghosts have also been invited.

Why: It's...festive?
When: October 31st, Afternoon

Come one, come all to a spectral salon in Professor Darrow's classroom! Ghosts will be on hand to tell stories of their lives and/or tales of major events that happened while they were alive. Additionally, sixth/seventh year members of the History Club have been tasked with giving a brief talk on the historical topic of their choosing. Tea and cakes will be served, and there is a rumour going around the first/second year class that Professor Darrow is giving extra credit to students who show up (this is: unverified).
