What: Puddlemere United Quidditch Season Kickoff Gala
Who: Thom Pettigrew to host; anyone who can afford a ticket can attend. Tickets are roughly twice what you would pay for your normal Quidditch seat and include attendance at the match following the event, so are accessible to members of all classes.
Where: Puddlemere United Stadium, Britain
Why: Last year's Season Champs need to kick off the new season right. ;)
When: 4 May 1888

The party begins three hours prior to the start of the match (Puddlemere's first of the season, vs. Wimbourne), though attendees may arrive at any time during that block. Those who purchased or were invited to private boxes (ie the UC and upper MC fans) will be ushered to an upstairs pavilion where waiters will distribute cocktails and champagne as guests socialize and schmooze. Gentleman inclined to place bets on the match will have the opportunity to do so, not just on the overall outcome but also on statistics such as player fouls, game length, etc. Whatever they feel inclined to bet on, really.

Anyone who purchased a regular stand ticket (MC & WC) is welcome to attend a slightly more raucous party in the downstairs foyer behind the stands, where cheap beer will be distributed en masse, roaming food vendors will be handing out concessions-style fare if you can track them down in the crowd, and some complimentary Puddlemere souvenirs and swag will be raffled off based on your seat number. Those inclined to place bets on the match will also have a few counters at which they may do so.

First string Puddlemere players are required to put in at least a brief appearance at the fancy gala, but may then spend the rest of their pre-match time how they like (either prepping for the game or at the downstairs party). Second string players are welcome to attend the downstairs party free of charge.

What: Welcome To The Jungle Fashion Show
Who: Ophelia Devine is promoting it; it's a ticketed event so most likely attendees are UC folk or MC people who wanted to make a point to be there. Also, since it's ticketed guests most likely actually wanted to come or were dragged by someone who did, not just 'another event to fill out the week's calendar' sort of thing.
Where: Hogsmeade Ballroom
Why: To introduce a new designer onto the English fashion scene.
When: 18 May 1888

Whilst on her honeymoon, Ophelia took an interest in some foreign fashion designer and is working with said designer to bring one of their clothing lines to the British Isles. The dresses are all inspired by various members of the animal kingdom, and in order to properly set the mood guests will be choosing an animal mask upon arrival to wear throughout the evening. Unbeknownst to the English attendees, in order to really set the mood the masks have been enchanted to gradually bestow one stereotypical characteristic of the animal in question upon the wearer (for instance: a man with a bull mask might find his temper rising quickly, someone with a pig face might be continuously drawn to the concessions table, etc). The magical effects are gradually enough that the wearers themselves shouldn't pick up on them, though others might.

The evening begins with a runway fashion show, then guests will be set loose to drink and mingle while the runway is cleared away. The models and designers will then go wander through the crowd and make small talk with the aim of encouraging people to place bids on the dresses displayed in the evening. Winners of the auction will not only receive a custom-tailored dress from the runway, but the peace of mind of knowing that for the 1888 season they have exclusive rights to that design as the dress won't be available in stores until the following year.

Get Featured in Witch Weekly!

What: Magdalena's Grand Opening
Who: Anyone that likes sweet baked goods!
Where: Diagon Alley, at Maggie's new bakery Magdalena's.
Why: Maggie just got her new dream shop and wants to spread the word of all the sweet baked goods she has to offer.
When: May 17th, 1888

Maggie inherited a great deal of money upon her marriage elopement to Lorcan and got the bakery of her dreams, dubbed Magdalena's. To combat the gossip behind it all, though surely resulting in some free advertising, she's having a Grand Opening for the bakery. A variety of delicious, sweet baked goods will be on display for purchase along with free, decorated sugar cookies for those wanting to sample the treats. A bit of street dancing and fun will spill out into the streets for the evening with refreshments being provided by Magdalena's.

Come check out what the little bakery is all about or just come to catch a glimpse of the girl who ensnared Lorcan!

Marvelous MJ Masterpiece

What: Sandition Season Opener
Who: Overnight guests will be MC and UC, but WC guests are more than welcome for the daytime festivities and attractions!
Where: The Sanditon Resort
Why: Why not?
When: May 19th-21st

Though the Sanditon is open to guests year-round, this week-end marks the official beginning of their summer season, with all attractions open once more! A spa has been added since the tragedies of last year, and Herbert continues to float about, ever the cheerful host!  Free ice creams to all on Saturday, and there will be a dance for members of the middle and upper class that evening!
