Did You Know?
Queen Victoria was known for putting jackets and dresses on her pups, causing clothing for dogs to become so popular that fashion houses for just dog clothes started popping up all over Paris. — Fox
It would be easy to assume that Evangeline came to the Lady Morgana only to pick fights. That wasn't true at all. They also had very good biscuits.

Adapt Moroccan fashion to a darker style!

Balgha slippers are worn by peasants and princes in Morocco!

Add some style to lounging at home!

Four Moroccan Fashions To Inspire Your Style
With Great Britain presently playing host to the World Cup Finals, you may have seen foreign visitors strolling our streets, and many Moroccans among them, set apart by their style of dress. Is there a chance the kaftan will catch on? Below are four fashion ideas that may inspire you!

Embellished Robes. Whilst the Moroccan kaftan is not unlike a simple robe, it can be made in an array of materials and at their lightest linens, the Moroccans are set for any weather! Whilst the woman who suffers in the summer heat could benefit from this, the most enviable aspect of this fashion is the handmade embroidery, beading and intricate patterning that almost puts the best Lytton dresses to shame with their eye for detail! If you have dresses or robes in a plainer shape, make the most of them by adding some glamour to their necks and hems.

Belts. The kaftan may be everyday wear, but the height of Moroccan feminine elegance is the two-piece takchita, which nevertheless strikes a more modest figure than some bare-armed ballgowns. Have you always considered robes a dull, frumpy option for middle-aged or working witches, compared to the shapely figure of muggle corsetry? Well, perhaps the answer is a Moroccan-style belt to pull in your robes and give yourself a waist to envy. They can be as little as a thin beaded band or as much as a thick gold-plated panel, accentuating your figure as well as catching the eye with a jewelled centrepiece. Will we be seeing more robes next season?

Headwear and jewellery. In this case, the Moroccan style may be more is more - we have seen wealthy women walking around practically laden with Victoria's crown jewels on her brow! - but this may be the year for a little boldness. The Moroccan have no shame when it comes to colour, even in gems: but you can make a more restrained alteration by sticking to gold or silver and instead choosing a dramatic shape or one colourful feature.

Homewear. Some Moroccan culture is hardly likely to catch on on our shores, such as traditional heelless slippers or most menswear - however! They are perfectly adaptable to add comfort and style in your own home: if you have aching feet after a night of dancing, why not buy a pair of leather balgha - they will mould beautifully to your feet and are more prettily-stitched than a pair of tartan slippers! And for the gentleman in your life, why not use a Moroccan pattern or colour for his smoking coat or dressing gown? You could even sew him an Arab-inspired smoking cap for his birthday!

Why stop at one necklace when you might have five?

A belt can do wonders for a flowing robe!

Rose-cut and diamond-inset gold earrings have a striking shape!

Ten Questions We Want Answered About Frida Lestrange
Meet the new Head Girl of Hogwarts. Miss Frida Lestrange shall be the standing model of what a female student should be for this next year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But how much do we know about Miss Frida Lestrange? And what is next after the badge of honor that the Head Girl position holds?

Miss Frida Sylvestra Lestrange
1. Will she be a Rose?
With familial connections to the Pendergast family, it would come as a surprise if she didn't join the ranks of such a famous finishing school in the magical community. Though we may understand that Miss Lestrange certainly shouldn't need any finishing, as a Head Girl.

2. Betrothal or Love?
Different Lestrange branches have shown to favor one option or the other. Miss Lestrange has never shown a public need for an arranged match, but that isn't to say that throwing tradition out of the window is the best choice either. Given her age, it certainly could go either way. We here at Witch Weekly eagerly await to see which path her guardians decide for her.

3. Is a career in her future?
Thankfully, the answer is 'unlikely' given that our sources have suggested that she prefers the more traditional and feminine way of life. If she were to be so inclined towards such things, may we encourage some charity work?

4. How many children will she have?
As a lady of society, it is expected that one will marry and have children,  but how many would be a fitting number for Miss Lestrange? Based on the experience she has around younger children - her younger sisters and her even younger cousins - in addition to her roles as both a prefect and to-be Head Girl, we expect that Miss Lestrange will have approximately four to five children, perhaps more. With a nanny that her social class guarantees her, we're sure that raising fitting members of society will come quite naturally to this bright witch.

5. Will her sisters also become Head Girls?
With several prefects in the family, and an older sister as Head Girl, will Miss Lestrange's younger sisters be joining her with such an honorable title? For Miss Meta Lestrange, the answer is a deafening no. The young Gryffindor has been seen as both a trouble maker and rather hot headed. Tying this to the fact that she has a tendency to not act in a more feminine light, we could hardly believe that a fine establishment such as Hogwarts would ever elect to put such a girl in a position of influence over her mlre feminine peers. Miss Gretchen Lestrange, on the other hand, has already earned the prefect badge and has shown promising signs of being fit for the future Head Girl position.
Can we predict Miss Lestrange's future?
6. What does her sign say about her?
As far as we here at Witch Weekly can see, Miss Lestrange has thus far only shown the positive traits common among those with the Taurus sign. Reliable, practical, responsible and devoted. Not only are these excellent qualities in that of a Head Girl, but will make wonderful qualities for a wife.

7. What kind of man would make the best husband for her?
An excellent match is one in which both husband and wife can work harmoniously in their places in the home. Miss Lestrange will likely benefit from a man who can be attentive, but allow her to strive in her own makings of balls and dinner parties. A man who will not need to worry about focusing too much on work, as we cannot see her as anything less than a model wife.

8. Who are her closest friends?
Friendship connections can make or break a young lady's social image. It is always important to choose your friends wisely. Miss Lestrange is a key example of this, having made friends with several fellow prefects. Being friends with her cousin - Miss Seneca Lestrange - is a given, but Miss Hermia Bonaccord and Miss Cordelia Fawley are additional friendly social connections whom will hopefully benefit Miss Lestrange for years to come.

9. Will Miss Lestrange be recieving high NEWT marks?
Perhaps not. While we are assuming that she will leave Hogwarts with fair grades, it is unlikely that she will not receive top marks on her NEWTs. This is not a bad thing! As a proper lady of society, her first duty is towards bettering herself socially and preparing for life as a man's wife. With an unlikelihood that she will enter the workforce, NEWTs scores surely could not be that important for her to begin with. A lady does not need good scores to be considered intelligent!

10. What will her coming out ball theme be?
Whether or not she attends finishing school, it is likely that Miss Lestrange will have her own personal coming out ball. But what will be the theme for this future debutante's first official party? Perhaps something to honor her Hufflepuff status? Or will we see a lovely floral theme to represent a new beginning? Whatever the case, surely the Lestrange family will spare no expense for this future gem of society!

Assassin. Usurper. Seeker.

The Quidditch World Cup is well under way now with the match against Morocco this coming Saturday and the inevitable chaos and excitement that always accompanies such events. However, it wouldn't be a Quidditch World Cup without plenty of drama!

The other week the news broke of the British team seeker, Peter Quince, contracting Dragon Pox and fear that it may spread among the rest of the team. Dragon pox is of course a ruthless illness so this in itself is quite shocking and unexpected, but we here at Witch Weekly assure you that this is but the mere tip of a very large and scandalous iceberg!

Peter Quince, Britain's first string Seeker.
It's awfully inconvenient, is it not, that Mr. Quince should take so violently ill during his first (and possibly last) Quidditch World Cup? Or rather, awfully convenient for one Mr. Cassius Lestrange! With rumors of Mr. Lestrange retiring at the end of the season it can hardly come as a surprise to anyone that Lestrange would be bitter about ending his career without ever playing a Quidditch World Cup match despite qualifying. A once in a lifetime opportunity lost because one man outshone him in the tryouts, Peter Quince.

The face of a cold-blooded assassin!
It's clear that in fearing he'd never get the chance to play in a world cup match, Lestrange decided to take matters into his own hands. Some might think Mr. Lestrange incapable of such underhanded behavior but let us remind those who would be doubtful of his namesakes. A Naming Seer was evidently employed in the bestowing of a name upon Lestrange for it is an aptly chosen name. Cassius is a name mired in treachery and self-interest. The most infamous Cassius was the co-conspirator of Brutus in the murder of Julius Caeser and here we have another Cassius not quite literally stabbing his teammate in the back to seize his last chance of Quidditch fame and glory! Then you have Avidius Cassius who believed Emperor Marcus Aurelius was on his deathbed decided it was the perfect moment to stage a coup and usurp him! Much like Lestrange swooping in and replacing Quince in the upcoming match.

How did Cassius Lestrange orchestrate such a maneuver you might be wondering? Hailing from a wealthy and powerful family, obtaining a piece of cloth contaminated with dragon pox would be the easiest part of his scheme. Then, after the match against Hawaii, Lestrange carefully transfers the dragon pox cloth into Mr. Quince's possession and waits eagerly for his ascension to first string. Dragon pox can be deadly and so it is entirely possible that Lestrange was hoping it would kill off his teammate as an added bonus, revenge for the younger player having gotten in his way in the first place. It's remarkable how only Mr. Quince contracted dragon pox, or it would be if it weren't the work of foul play.

With all luck Mr. Quince will make a swift and full recovery, sadly it is unlikely to be in time for him to play against Morocco.

Did you overhear something you simply can't help but share? Write us anonymously to have your news considered for publication!

Heard Around Town

I heard a certain wealthy man bought an entire Quidditch box for the World Cup and invited an unmarried woman to share it with him — just the two of them! Do you think he knows the glass at the front will let people see in as well as letting them see out? Merlin!

Someone said they saw Miss Whitledge crying after she received her NEWT results. I'll bet she wishes she'd taken the Coming Out Ball a little more seriously now!

Anselm Bonaccord and his family have moved so often; apparently before they came to Britain most recently they were living somewhere in Africa. Why would he relocate so often? Do you think he's trying to run from some hideous scandal that keeps coming to light?

The British National Team was supposed to have a whole set of new broomsticks from Elias Grimstone, you know, but the contract fell through. My cousin works in the Department of Magical Games and Sports and was talking about it. There's a rumor his latest prototype even exploded! Do you think he's run out of ideas? Honestly, how many different ways can you make a broomstick?

The new addition at the Sanditon has caused a bit of trouble, I hear. There's too much there now and it's impossible to keep track of your children if you go for a day visit. A friend of a friend found her daughter in one of the unlet cabins, trying to meet up with a friend from Hogwarts — a male friend!

I heard Cassius Lestrange might retire from Quidditch soon. I wonder that some of the older players aren't considering it more seriously — but then, I suppose someone like Arthur Pettigrew doesn't have many other respectable prospects!
