MCAB & UCAB | REP 6+ | HIGH TEA

What: New Year's Tea
Who: Hosted by Roslyn Ross for the ladies of magical Britain. Invited are any MC/UC witches of reasonable reputation aged 16 and above, allowing for some Hogwarts students to attend and get a ~taste for society. @"Zelda Fisk" is also required to be there :P
Cost:
Where: Hogsmeade Memorial Ballroom
Why: Ugh she's the Minister's wife to celebrate the coming of 1891!
When: Afternoon of Saturday, January 2nd

High tea will be served to tables of six—no more than two from one household per table—with the hostess milling about and visiting graciously as the Minister's wife is supposed to (she is available for cameos in threads if desired). Basically an excuse to chat with other ladies you might not ordinarily see and a good chance to meet mothers.

Not being invited would be seen as a social slight, but some of the larger partiers of the debs and young marrieds might think it a bit stuffy for their tastes!

ACAB* | ANY REP* | EXHIBITION & BALL

What: Exhibition of Art
Who:

Ostensibly organized by the Hogsmeade Women's Institute, the exhibition will feature pieces from a variety of card-carrying members of magical art guilds both in Britain and from the continent. Some local artists who have submitted their work to the Women's Institute might also see a piece featured, but the ladies' standards are quite high.

TICKETS (MC/UC)* are available to visit the exhibition on Thursday and Friday from 11am until 6pm, with FREE entry on Saturday (AC)* from 9am until 1pm.

*UC individuals with reps 6+ and MC ~society members with reps 8+ will also be invited to a BALL on the Saturday evening in amongst the displays. All ball attendees are to be 17+ and, in the case of ladies, out.

Cost: Tickets for the exhibition are four sickles each. Tickets for the Green (see below) are 1G a pop.
Where: Hogsmeade Memorial Ballroom
Why: Because I'm rewatching Bridgerton.
When: January 28th to January 30th

Precisely one hundred and seventeen paintings will line the walls of the Hogsmeade Memorial Ballroom, replacing the usual artwork usually on display; in addition, various sculptures will be available for viewing throughout the floor.

The most notable piece on display is called The Welsh Green—suspended from the ceiling, it is a life-sized blown glass Welsh green dragon. Inside is a small garden complete with weather charms; those who are willing to shell out extra may, in groups of up to four at a time, spend half an hour in the magically-enlarged space which has at least one bench obscured from outside view...

On Saturday Evening, the sculptures too will be pushed towards the walls to allow room for dancing, hors d'oeuvres, and beverages. At the center of the room, a string quartet charmed to look like moving statues will play throughout the evening, and the usual amenities of the ballroom's building—billiard room, ladies' parlour, etc.—will be available to guests.

ACAB* | ANY REP* | DUELING COMPETITION

What: Exhibition Dueling Bracket
Who: Hosted by Excalibur's and is intended for Hogsmeade's gentleman but not limited to them. Any class may attend, provided they can afford the admission fee. Any rep may attend as well, but only reps 5+ are invited to participate in the actual dueling competition.
Cost: 2s to enter into the building, but the low price is offset by the assumption that gambling will be going on.
Where: An events pavilion that Padmore Park should have so I am making it so.
Why: Inspired by the Bridgerton's boxing match, and also because there should me more men-geared events.
When: January 16th

Word-renowned dueler Billius Blewitt is coming to Hogsmeade and hosting an exhibiting dueling competition. The proceeds from admission will be turned into a scholarship for low-income students, but the big bucks will come from the gambling pools.

Fifteen gentleman may enter to compete against Mr. Blewitt and each other, and the first prize will receive a 5G prize and—of course—the glory of being the champion (although Mr. Blewitt has pledged his winnings to the charity, assuming he wins!)

Guests will be invited to fill out a bracket whether or not they choose to gamble, but there are plenty of betting private betting pools to get into for those who wish to put their guessing to the test. OOCly, brackets can be filled out HERE.

MCAB/UCAB | ANY REP | SHOP OPENING

What: Grand Opening of The Modiste Rose
Who: Hosted for the ladies of primarily Hogsmeade, though Irvingly and curious residents from out of area might also stop by. Generally tedious for the menfolk, but one or two might have been dragged along.
Cost: N/A
Where: The Modiste Rose, Hogsmeade High Street
Why: It's...opening?
When: Friday, January 22nd

Lemonade and biscuits are available all day in this open-house format grand opening. Observe the quality that the newest modiste in town can provide by taking in some sample gowns, fondle some fabric, and get the measure of a woman who's been in town two months and hasn't really made many acquaintances.
