I PRESENT: HOGWARTS IDEAS.
Some of these are definitely bigger than single-thread plots, and it might be best to run some of these through staff, but my 6am brain is cranking out ideas and I must post them somewhere :P
- Book Club meetings get intense, ending in a number of students receiving detentions for sneaking into the Restricted Section without a pass in search of new—and forbidden—knowledge to share.
- Struggling students form a study group. They grow. They achieve. They pass their damn exams and build friendships along the way.
- Student attempts to blackmail professor. It works...at first.
- A number of students wake up in the Hospital Wing. They have no memory of what happened to cause them to end up there.
- The bottom level of Hogwarts (i.e. dungeons, etc.) is flooded, leaving the Hufflepuffs and Slytherins to bunk with the Ravenclaws and Gryffindors.
- Poor attempts at an atmospheric charms lead to a raging, magical thunderstorm over Hogwarts that tampers with professors’ and students’ magic.
- A magical bug invades the halls of Hogwarts, leading students to act out of character and forget basic details about themselves. In turn, this leads to students believing that their friends are being kidnapped—and replaced!—by imposters.
- Fight-turns-accidental-death leading to a series of lies, pointed fingers, and blackmail.
- Student searches through whatever Hogwarts records they can find at the school to answer questions about family secrets.
- Student goes missing during a quidditch match.
- (Possibly illegal?) potion brewing ring. Soothing draughts, pepperup potions, etc.—all sold and traded from the comfort of the common rooms UNTIL one ill-brewed potion threatens to collapse the entire operation.
- Student’s diary is stolen. They wake up to find their secrets circulating.

I PRESENT: MORE HOGWARTS IDEAS.
- A student accidentally commits a crime during a Hogsmeade weekend, and only a handful of students know about it. While at first they all agree to keep quiet to protect their friend, the introduction of reward money tests loyalties that would have otherwise never been questioned.
- Students run a competition between themselves to see who can invent the best spell, potion, or breed of plant. All seems well—at least until one of their inventions goes awry.
- A parent receives word that their child has been spending time with less favorable types and choices have to be made. Is the blood of the covenant thicker than the water of the womb? We'll see.
- DYK? The first ballpoint pen was invented on October 30th, 1888. A student returns to Hogwarts with one after Christmas break, causing an uproar (and perhaps awe!) among those skeptical of muggle technology.
- After word comes out that a student may have to leave school due to a family death or financial difficulties, their friends come together to keep them from leaving.

According to Cassell's Household Guide, a comprehensive book on Victorian life published in 1869, if the young woman did see a gentleman friend and felt she couldn't ignore him, she would have to take the initiative and offer her hand. The gentleman had to wait for the lady to recognize him before lifting his hat (not simply touching the brim), and he had to use the hand farthest from her. If she offered her hand, the gentleman had to turn to walk with the lady instead of stopping. And above all else, the conversation itself had to be reserved: Cassell's dictates, "Strict reticence of speech and conduct should be observed in public," without "loud talking" or "animated discussions."
Only under extreme circumstances could one perform the practice of "cutting," in which you stared directly at someone you knew with no sign of recognition. Cassell's called this "the most ill-mannered act possible to commit in society."
— Have someone 'cut' an acquaintance in public; the 'cut' party is devastated and bystanders are looking around
like. Could make an excellent thread for the Silencio stamp, and Rumor Mill fodder!

Workplace Drama
- Aurors vs. hit wizards office drama. Some auror makes a snide comment about the importance/skill level/intelligence of hit wizards, prompting a war of sorts between the offices. Cue light sabotaging of cases, prank wars, and general mischief that shouldn't be condoned but is for the sake of pride.
- Conflict between a superior and an office employee. There's plenty ways this could happen and I rarely see these conflicts happening.
- Employee moves into a higher rank at the Ministry and is not immediately accepted by their inferiors. Cue a battle to earn respect (even if it means going too far and losing it.)
- A top player on a quidditch team makes a switch to another team, seemingly out of nowhere. A series of "quotes" are "leaked" about why the player switched. They might be real, and they might be fabricated—but they definitely cause a lot of drama.
- Random disease outbreak in one of the hospitals, causing a few of the healers and hospital staff to go into quarantine together for days on end. Cue panic, bickering, and everything in between.
