After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.

LET ME (er Emmett) ROMANCE YOUR SKIRTS OFF. Figuratively, he's a gentleman. I've been reading a whole hell of a lot of smutty romance novels lately so I've just got a hard hankering for a good old-fashioned romance and honestly, Emmett is the gent to do it with. Plus I haven't been on the dude side of a courtship in a while after marrying off most of my bachelors lol. This is a more intense trope desire than anything else I've got on there at the moment.

Idk let's play it out. » Missed Connections - first meeting at an event (a masquerade?) never exchange names or info, so he can't go a calling, but he is Charmed and it could be a love at first sight sorta thing? Generally - Not married to the suggested PB, just for picspam. Made the plottable because I WOULD like for the initial couple of threads move at a moderate pace in order to check the chemistry! I intend for this to be open-ended, obviously I'm game for a quickie wedding, but now it goes after is not set in stone.
This group of friends coalesced during Hogwarts around a shared interest in advanced magic — which took a turn towards the darker side. They bandied about bold but ill-conceived plans to experiment with forbidden rituals during their school years, but after graduation engaged in an Unspeakable Vow to help each other go through with it — one ritual for each person, aided by the rest of the group. Now well into their adult lives, these otherwise respectable members of society have secretly engaged in some dubious activities when called upon by the others, including black market purchases, some stomach-turning incidents with animals, and consumption of some things not exactly healthy.
Other than needing to be reasonably close in age, all details are open. Race, class, gender, background, etc, as long as they were at Hogwarts together and long enough to have formed a strong connection (probably no more than 2 years difference in school). Doubling up or retconning/rehabilitating old characters encouraged.
An early skeptic of their plans, the Knave become ardently devoted to acquiring the skill of speaking with the dead after he lost someone close to him. After some years of study and a ritual that took a significant toll, he has this ability — but was still unable to speak to the one person he was seeking. It took another year for him to discover that was because they never died in the first place — they merely ran off and were living elsewhere, presumably never sparing a thought for him. He is now deeply jaded about essentially everything and often verbally hostile (though still deeply loyal) to the rest of the group. Pictured: Jack Falahee

Unlike the Page, the King did not come from privilege and did not enter into this agreement from naivite — rather, he knew he had nothing to lose where he was, and no way of catapulting himself into the life he desired without drastic measures. He sought influence from their meddling, and acquired it — he has a reputation as charming and charismatic and likely holds a position or occupation which relies on this. While not malicious or conniving generally, he may go to extreme ends to keep from losing what he gained through dark magic. Pictured: Tom Felton

Obviously, I'd prefer activity from anyone to take these on XD If, after six months, I don't think you're doing much with them (I have very lax standards, don't worry!), I reserve the right to ask you to give them up so someone more active may take them on.
I'll give you two weeks after loosing a character in an AC before I put them back up for grabs! If you drop them via Maintenance, they become immediately available again. If you just want to temp drop them, talk to me first! :)
Anyone picking up one of my ads must include the family and personality sections. I provide the family in all my applications so just mentioning the names is quite fine by me. Personality can be as minimal as three basic traits, just so I know for sure that our ideas of the character mesh.

Dramatis Personae
Erasmus is a consummate Slytherin: he always wants more, and as far as he is concerned, damn well deserves it. This extended to his romantic life where, in addition to the traditional wife, he took a lover, Emmeline Picquery, in New York, which he frequented. The two were linked for many years, resulting in the birth of one Albion Picquery.
Names are flexible. Ethnicities should be either black or white.* * Obviously first on board will have a great deal of impact here xD

THE HEAD OF THE FAMILY

Erasmus did something out of character when he learned of his youngest's death: he recognized he had made a mistake. None of his children, in his estimation, were worth inheriting what he had amassed in his life—indeed, born to the lower reaches of the middle class, he had climbed quite far in his decades of life. True, that was mostly their shortcomings, but also his own.
Time for a ringer, then.
Erasmus and Albion have never been close, nor has their relationship been a very paternal one, but Erasmus believes he loves all his children, and believing is just as good as that actually being the case. Besides, his boy is sensible, capable, and the only embarrassment about him is his birth—something that can surely be overcome. Best case scenario, as Erasmus sees it, Albion's arrival kicks his other children into gear. Worst case, the American proves to be the best man for the job. Either way, it's going to be entertaining.
Erasmus is charismatic and good-humoured, but not a fool. Why he kept Albion a secret is up to you! Pictured PB is Denzel Washington.

The eldest son until that other one strode through the door, Scorpius is, by all accounts, the product of privilege. The Problem, According to Erasmus: he is a quidditch player and has absolutely zero ambition. Well, he has always possessed drive, it's just been directed in wholly wrong areas. A gambling ring during his Hogwarts years. Collecting women like pokemon cards. He is a rake, through and through, and while reformed rakes might make the best husbands, Erasmus isn't certain this one will reform enough to lead the family into the next generation.
His initial reactions to Albion's arrival have centered around indignation and amusement, oscillating between the two quite frequently. Once Ursa starts whispering in his ear, will jealousy rear its ugly head? Will broom sports be enough to bond the brothers? Pictured is Rome Flynn
THE MUNDANE

THE BRAINS OF THE OPERATION

The only daughter, Ursa inherited the best and worst from her parents. From her mother, beauty and the gift of anticipating the needs and desires around her, but also a bitter streak. From her father, a shrewd mind and charisma, but also an innate insincerity that even she doesn't quite realize. The Problem, According to Erasmus: she is a woman. It's as simple as that. Look, Erasmus was an early adopter of the concept of the American Dream, but even he's too conservative to apply that to women. She will be lovely and marry well and then he will see her on holidays. She, however, is not at all content with this.
Of all the children, Ursa is the only one to see Albion's arrival as what it is a threat. She will try to get her brother's on side, to create a united front—but this chess; it requires a longer game. Pictured is Arsema Thomas

THE WEE GHOSTIE

Rigel was born the baby of the family, but now, is doomed to roam the earth long after the rest of them are dead. A freak accident at the 92/93 new year took the lad's life but he was not about to shuffle off the mortal plane. Enter: his ghost era. His parents and siblings are all varying degrees of horrified that he's still ~around. Fortunately, he spends most of the school term with his friends/causing problems at Hogwarts. THE ALLY?

Lenore's nephew, Clifford grew up with a generally good relationship with his cousins, and is the sort to ingratiate himself with those around him. He and Albion develop a tentative friendship not long after the latter's arrival. Is it genuine, though, or has Clifford worked out Erasmus' intentions—and decided to try to steal the metaphorical crown for himself? Pictured is Fabien Frankel.
"April" works. Not just that, but she works in a job that is appropriate and highly educated. Indeed, it is simply mad to her that women in her position can't vote, and that women are actively discouraged from being in her position to begin with. She has made a (perfectly breakable) vow not to get married until women have equal voting righs to men. She is Calvin's sister. Face and ethnicity are wide open! Pictured is Ruby Stokes.
"April" Paxton was either a trainee or junior healer at Hogsmeade Hospital while her brother Calvin was a full healer. They had a major falling out when their work overlapped on a patient and he overrode her decision with one of his own. Things didn't go well for the patient (died? lifelong injury? maimed? something); "April" contended that it was Calvin's fault and her route would have been better, while he believed he made the right decision and sometimes you can do everything right in triage and things still go poorly, and that "April" was being naive not to recognize that. This was enough of a fight that there was a very real danger of them just never being civil to each other ever again, which was when Calvin started offering to take her to rallies — basically bribing his way back into her good graces by chaperoning her, without question, to places that would make their parents pause.
At this point the Paxton siblings are considered a package deal in the suffrage circle; they're always attending together, and while "April" does most of the speaking Calvin will always quietly back her up. She is a bit more optimistic about the future than he is — he was immediately cynical about the latest voting bill, for instance, while she celebrates it as a step forward, though does recognize its flaws. They're MCPB and Calvin lives alone in Bartonburg but his house is always open to her and she sometimes stays there for ease between shifts.
