Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.
Unlike the previous bouts under his jurisdiction, Kit had worked with both of the wizards now before him, knew them to be altogether capable duelists. This, the auror thought as he reviewed rules in a bored tone, should be interesting.
Trystan nodded at Sterling, thankful that at least if he bowed out this time, it would not be to a smirking sister-in-law.
But he would rather not bow out at all. With bombarda, he aimed a small (– controlled, of course –) explosion at the floor just before Sterling's feet, hoping the disruption would throw him backwards.
Secretly Ben was relieved he was going against Selwyn. At least if he lost this time it would be to a worthy opponent. With a bow, he whipped his wand in the air to summon a whirlwind, hoping to push Selwyn off balance.
Sterling's cast was all but obliterated by the explosion that knocked the auror off his feet. Kit awarded Selwyn the first time, then directed Sterling (returned to his feet) to begin the next pass.
SELWYN 13 | STERLING 11 Benedict Sterling casting first. Please tag Trystan Selwyn in your post. You have 48 hours, or forfeit!
Well that was an absolute bust. Ben sighed as he recovered, more annoyed with himself than Selwyn. When it came his turn he went ahead and cast a confundus charm.
Trystan chose a more-interesting-variation of a shield, hopefully conjuring a shimmering disturbance in the air between them that would warp Sterling's field of vision into a distorted kaleidoscope and confuse his aim.
The entire duel ground to a halt as aid was dispatched to the young lady in the crowd hit by Sterling's spell. It was effective, clearly, but not as effective as Selwyn's efforts to send it off course. Rather unnecessarily, Kit thought, he declared Selwyn the winner once proceedings were able to proceed once more.
