Success in the Second (or Third) Season!
Securing a husband in the first season is a struggle for most young debutantes, but few have it harder than young ladies who have failed to find a husband the first (or even second!) time around.

It’s easy for a young woman who had previously had high hopes to grow anxious — or even depressed — when returning home at the end of August with nothing to do for the rest of the year. Some even give up completely, ruling out any options to intermingle with eligible bachelors as “a hopeless cause” and resign themselves to the life of a governess.

Today, Witch Weekly is here to bring back hope into the hearts to the loveless ladies of the magical world!

Step #1: Play Dumb!

One of the key features in women that gentleman look for is youthfulness, and it’s not unlikely that eligible bachelors will be watching for the newest young ladies to the scene! If you wish to catch their eye, you must convince them that you are just as inexperienced as the newest Hogwarts graduates!

Talking about past season’s events are a no-no (at least until you actually secure his heart!), as is any conversation that hints at your age!

Step #2: New Wardrobe!

Even the wealthiest debutantes can sometimes be guilty of entering the public eye wearing last year’s fashion — which, unfortunately for them, is a clear sign of past season’s failures! Not only does it show that you owned last year’s latest fashions, but it demonstrates that you’re trying to same previously-unsuccessful tactics to catch the eye of a prospective husband! If a gentleman believes other men didn’t want you, they certainly won’t!
Step #3: Become Well-Versed in Conversational Topics

While quidditch may be a frivolous and unladylike interest, it’s a sad fact of life that even many of the most dignified gentleman enjoy the sport — either in play or as entertainment! Such is the same with politics, academia, and other topics that a lady of good breeding has no reason to studay in great depth.

Unfortunately, desperate times call for desperate measures; sometimes the best way to a gentleman’s heart is through his own interests, and a woman who’s capable of holding a conversation about them may earn his favor. That doesn’t mean you must become an expert overnight! Sometimes the attentiveness is all it takes to charm him!

Step #4: Be Yourself

Before you pursue this radical of an option, think deeply about who you truly are, as opposed as the face you show to society. It’s a common mistake for young debutantes to obscure their spark — the qualities that make them both appealing and unique — in their attempts to obscure their more unseemly traits. While there are certainly some behaviors and personality traits that should be hidden from a public eye, many debutantes trying to wear the same mask can lead to a gentleman growing uninterested!

If you feel you’re obscuring a truly important aspect to your personality, whether it be a cause you support or a hobby you pursue from the privacy of your own parlor, it’s not an awful idea to show it to the world. While all true gentleman share the same basic traits — chivalry, politeness, conscientiousness — none are exactly alike. While individuality is often looked down upon by society as a whole, it might be that one little spark that attracts your potential life companion!
