In the early hours of yesterday morning, the wreckage of a small craft was discovered on the Hogwarts side of the black lake. It has been identified as the Little Tern, a fishing vessel owned by Mister Andrew Makepeace, and worked by Mister Makepeace, his brother William and a ships hand known only as Artie. The craft was reported missing the evening before having failed to return from the evenings fish. At this time what happened to the Little Tern is unknown however the vessel is feared lost with all hands.

The condition of the wreck, in conjunction with other mysterious discoveries and occurrences on the lake in the past few weeks in the vincinity of the of the Black Lake it is suspected that the culprit is a unknown or previously undiscovered monster within the Lake. Given the lakes fresh water make up, there are few guesses as to what the creature may be.

All residents with homes in the vicinity of the Black Lake are reminded to exercise extreme caution while navigating the shore line, to avoid the water were possible and to report any signs of suspicious activity to the Aurors office.

The Ministry is asking that anyone with expertise in magical beasts, sailing, exploration - and even those with the ability to speak Mermish to make themselves known as preliminary work is underway into an exploratory mission to discover the cause of the
