Mysterious Flotsam Near Black Lake
Local Girls finds 'stone' fang on the shores of the black lake
Local residents are baffled today as reports surface of a mysterious object has been discovered on the banks of the Black Lake. The item, which has been described by those who have seen it as a stone 'tooth' is almost 3 feet long, leading to serious concerns over the nature of what may have lost the colossal tooth.
Jet black and curved, the tooth could be mistaken for that of a dragon but it's size would rule out any species native to the country. It was found by Caroline Weasley, eight, of Hogsmeade, while playing in the area on the morning of the 12th of February. Miss Weasley is almost the same size as the stone tooth.
It has been suggested that it is a petrified or fossilized species of some long extinct of dragon or sea monster - perhaps from when the Black Lake was still connected to the sea. The water level of the lake is particularly low for this time of year, which may be why the mysterious object has made its appearance on the lake shore.
Unfortunately Miss Weasley will not get to keep her find, as the ministry has taken possession of the item in the interest of science and community safety. It has however, been determined then when all necessary investigations have taken place the item will be donated to the Museum of magical miscellany for display in the name of Miss Weasley.
