Quidditch Season Resumes This Week
August Game Schedule Condensed
After over a month of hiatus, the Quidditch League is finally ready to resume this weekend, with three matches scheduled for this evening alone. Despite having missed the first two weekends of the month, the Department of Magical Games & Sports has stated that all of the matches scheduled for August will be conducted this month, and only the July matches will be postponed until the end of the season.
The delay was necessary, said officials, to allow teams time to regroup and resume practices after the dissipation of the fog. The highly condensed schedule will see three matches a day on all remaining playing days in the month, with four scheduled for yesterday, August 17th.
Every team will have at least one weekend with two games scheduled, and in some cases these matches fall back-to-back, which is unheard of in modern professional Quidditch. The loss of the July games, however, had already impacted the January schedule to such a degree that any further rescheduling "ran the risk of running this season straight into the next," according to a Quidditch League employee.
The Kenmare Kestrels, Chudley Cannons, Caerphilly Catapults, Tutshill Tornadoes, Montrose Magpies, and Ballycastle Bats will all see multiple matches this weekend.
