Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry sent out a slew of owls this morning containing the OWL and NEWT scores of outgoing fifth and seventh years. The examinations take place every May and, in many cases, determine the career paths that students may take following graduation.

Questions have arisen as to how many students will actually receive their letters with the fog that's enveloped Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and Irvingly, but representatives from the school assure residents that their owls are perfectly capable of navigating the magic-inhibiting fog.

Each year, the release of exam scores is accompanied by the release of the names of house quidditch captains, prefects, and head students.

Miss Prudence Browne, seeker, will lead the Gryffindor house team for the 1888-1889 school year; Rupert Bingham, beater, will lead the Ravenclaw house team;  Goodluck Warbeck, seeker, will lead the Hufflepuff house team; and Kristoffer Lestrange, beater, will continue to lead the Slytherin house team for his second year as captain.

With Slytherin possessing the most experienced team—and a captain in his third year of captaincy—many have speculated that they're the house likeliest to secure the quidditch cup.

Miss Frida Lestrange, Hufflepuff, will join her brother among the ranks of prefects as she enters her fifth year, as will Miss Beatrix Borgin, Ravenclaw. Mr. James Grey, a Gryffindor muggleborn, will also lead his house as a prefect.

Mr. Benjamin Turner, Ravenclaw, will be leading the entirety of Hogwarts as its new head boy. Ravenclaw has produced a number of head students in the past few years: Mr. Theodore Gallivan took his place as head boy in the 1885-1886 school year, followed by Miss Petra Sleptova and Miss Katherine Midford as head girls in the 1886-1887 and 1887-1888 school year.
