Listen it was only a matter of time. I had this muse when I made Lowri. Wrote that Sophie has a crush on Endymion. Thought she'd just remain in the background. Flash forward to present day when I recently started reading The Davenports by Krystal Marquis, which has a character who grew up in the nursery with the children of the family who employed her mother, and now she's a maid to the kids/her friends, and OH also has a crush on one of the sons.

And now here we are.

BUT where y'all come in is I need to know how the kids would react to Sophie growing up with them in their nursery before moving to being a member of the household staff. Her father dies in 1868, so she'd be about 4 years old, joining them that year. Goes to Hogwarts from 1875-1880 before being employed as a maid, and her mother dying in 1880.

For context into her character, this is what I wrote from Lowri's perspective:

Quote:Bless darling Millie, she would lose her head if it wasn't directly attached to her body. Eamon thinks I should have sacked her years ago, but I don't think I have the heart. She is frightfully intelligent, but sometimes it takes a while for the cart to catch up to the horse. Ever since she utterly failed sitting her exams because she failed to see that space in which to answer the first question was actually the second question, I don't think she would survive much outside the family. Really though, I don't mind, even if she does drool over Endy occasionally. Her heart's in the right place, the dear girl.

However I'm fleshing her out more: she's very smart, but also very easily overwhelmed. A bit of a hurricane when it comes to organization. I imagine she also seems a little disorganized in Lowri's mind because Lowri is very much the type of person to ask one thing, forget, then ask another completely contrary thing of Sophie. She's terrified of talking in front of large crowds. Is tbh very grateful she didn't really have to come out because she would have fainted the minute she stepped foot at a party where she's the center of attention. She HAS fainted multiple times in social gatherings. Probably been sick in a few obliging plant pots around the Dempsey estate due to her social anxiety. Is very much of an introvert but I imagine that the Dempsey kids (depending on their reception of her) are the only people who she can truly feel comfortable around.

I do not have a PB in mind. Maybe Emilia Clarke in her younger/brown hair years? Otherwise PB recs welcome.

Lottie would love her. Her muse is telling me she'd come up to her and rest her head on Sophie's shoulder occasionally. I think Lottie would blithefully accept her as one of them and not really consider anything else about it.

Oz would have been at Hogwarts by the time she joined the nursery and already Far Too Important to deal with "kid stuff" so I don't think he'd have much of an opinion on her prior to her being Lowri's maid. He wouldn't be mean or unkind just not that involved.

Don Juan on the other hand is of an age with her and would have treated her like another sister, for better (being protective if she ran into trouble at Hogwarts) or for worse (pulling her hair when they were kids). He would have been especially fond if she indulged him in his antics (eg, let him be the dramatic hero when they played make believe, did not point out the immediate logical flaws with his various passing fancies). Has probably leaned on their shared childhood at least a few times in adulthood to try and get her not to tell his mother things. If she did anyway, he'd call her a traitor and act like he was mad at her... then forget about it while he goes off on benders for a week or more and probably leave her fretting about how he's determined never to speak to her again.
