A note about my adoptables: Welcome to the manifestation of my re-watching and reading of Call the Midwife! A lot of the qualifiers that I include are extremely flexible! I'd like the personalities and backgrounds to match at least a little, but I am also quite content for things to change or switch around <3

“Prudence”

Operating as the head of the Abbey, Prudence takes on the brunt of the responsibility in both overlooking the midwives’ schedules and the running of the Abbey. This includes maintaining the separation of the muggle and magical communities as well as making sure the Abbey has sufficient funds, which more often than not means planning charity balls and partnerships - the part she detests and often hands off to one of the more senior members if she can. “Temperance”

Hailing from a high-society muggleborn family, she caused an absolute scandal amongst her family when she got a letter from Hogwarts. It was by the gracious nature of a benevolent aunt who convinced her family to let her attend. Even so, when she left Hogwarts, she was expected to re-integrate back into Muggle society. And then, horror upon horror! She announced her desire to become a healer; and not only a healer but a midwife at the Abbey working with magical elves. What would the rest of the family say? Of course, nothing, because they’re forbidden from saying anything about the magical community, but that’s almost #Worse given the rest of the family have the collective creativity and imagination of a pile of wood chips. “Hope”

She comes to the Abbey as an optimist, to put it plain and simple. She came from a good family with a good reputation and a good family dynamic. She has never known what it’s like to wonder where her next meal is coming from. She’s certainly pretty enough to have gotten employed somewhere where the hours were light and the labor even lighter, but instead she’s chosen midwifery. She thought training was gruesome, but she’s about to get a huge awakening into just what it’s going to require of her. Pictured is Chanel Celaya w/ alternatives open!

“Justice”

To say that she has quite the Cinderella story is an understatement. Another muggleborn, Justice was born into abject poverty among the worst of the worst. Left on her own to fend for herself at the age of 4, Justice found her way to a nearby church where she was subsequently adopted by a pastor and his wife. Born from nothing, Justice is true to her moniker and fights for those who do not have access to healthcare as easily. She likes to prioritize taking care of those born into the same conditions she was, both magical and muggle; this aspect (especially where muggles are concerned) takes some tiptoeing around, however she strictly adheres to the rules of Magical Society (however much she might hate it). “Faith”

She’s a favorite amongst the Matrons of the Abbey, and that solely has to do with her voice. A low and husky, it’s as if she can talk for hours and hours on end and be completely content in the world. She doesn’t get very phased by anything, including tricky births. She has a lively flirtatious side that most if not all inhabitants of the abbey are subjected to, and is often the one encouraging the others to go out for a drink or night of dancing. “Courage”

A dark horse if there ever was one. Courage was another midwife born into poverty, however she was born into a magical family who managed to do quite well for themselves given the circumstances. She is a bit rough around the edges, and tends to clash at least with anyone born to a higher rank than her (re: everyone); not out of jealousy, but out of extreme mistrust. She will be your friend until the end, but you must earn it, and earn it well. She takes her role as a midwife extremely seriously and she will not tolerate anyone who speaks against it. JUNO PUCEY

B. Jan. 1878 | UCPB | RAVENDOR | SEVENTH YEAR ('95)

NOT TWINS. For the last damn time! Sure, they look eerily alike in the whole face region (PB is Mia Goth, but could be blonde!), but legit, they're just cousins. They don't even get along, and indeed spend most of their time not together, as most of their classmates should have recognized by now.

Where Polly is outgoing, athletic, and confident, Juno is reserved and prefers books and the arts. As a modern gal, she would no doubt embrace the dark academic aesthetic just because it's her. She is incredibly intelligent obtaining high marks in all her OWLs. Though no one but those closest to her know, she hopes her elder sister marries incredibly well so that she may simply become an Unspeakable. None of the Puceys know that Juno has any inclination towards a profession, and she intends to keep it that way until she can't really avoid telling them.

Regarding her uncle's death, she (quite rightly) does not harbour any guilt. It was a freak accident, for which she is not at all at fault. Still, she misses him dearly, as she grew up loving him and Aunt Cosmina almost as much as her own parents.

COSMINA PUCEY

B. 1856 | UCPB | SLYTHERPUFF | WIDOW

Cosmina Pucey has never been alone. She shared the womb with her twin sister, with whom she was altogether linked until the two married—in the same ceremony—twins. Indeed, the couples went on to live side-by-side, and raised their families together. While she still lives in that same house, with her sister and brother-in-law right next door, her husband's death has left her feeling entirely adrift. She has always been one half of a set, but now, one of those sets is incomplete—and she has to face grief alone, without a companion who understands what she's experiencing. It is a daunting task, one that she is not certain she is up for, and one that has left her feeling incredibly vulnerable.

For most of Polly's childhood, Cosmina was the main driver of the notion that Polly and Juno should be just as close as Cosmina and Callista have always been. Socially, she is known for executing excellent events in tandem with others (sister, organizations, etc.) but remaining modest when the time comes for taking credit. She and Callista were in the same house at Hogwarts. She does not think quidditch a suitable occupation for a woman, and would not allow her daughters to play. She does not know about the Kingsley situation, but of course knows about the girls. Suggested PB is Leighton Meester; alternatives to be brunette.

CALLISTA PUCEY

B. 1856 | UCPB | SLYTHERPUFF | SOCIALITE

Callista Pucey has a secret: two of her children are not her husband's. Indeed, they aren't even hers.

• Iseult. No issues there. Great job, Iseult.
  
• Juno. Juno and Hippolyta were accidentally switched by the nanny as toddlers, and it was three years before anyone actually noticed. (#ButtBirthmark). At this point, it seemed... unkind to swap the girls back, and so Juno would be raised as Polly, Polly as Juno, and the nanny dismissed without any hope of a reference. The parents all agreed never to tell the children. Besides, it's not like a secret like that could ever cause a problem, right?
  
• Kingsley. In fairness, Callista does not know this. Her own son perished in a very difficult labour, and it was a fortnight before it was certain Callista herself would live. When she began asking after the baby, her husband did not have the heart to tell her, and so acquired a child.
  

Other than that, Callista Pucey is an altogether normal socialite. Well, that, and the fact that she and her identical twin fell in love with, and married, identical twin brothers, but that's old news. She is incredibly close to her sister, but does not know what to do with Cosmina's grief, leaving her feeling out of sorts about the matter. She is very charitable—both in terms of Causes and in her patience for those around her—and wishes everyone to excel and be happy in life (within their own spheres, of course; she's not a radical!). She and Cosmina were in the same house at Hogwarts. She does not think quidditch a suitable occupation for a woman, and would not allow her daughters to play.

BERNARDUS PUCEY

B. 1850 | UCPB | RAVENDOR | ST MUNGO'S HEALER

Unlike (and except) the Pucey twins, Bernardus and Benedict did not do everything together. Oh, they've been best friends from the drop and were in the same house at Hogwarts, but have always healthily explored their own interests—Bernardus loved sport while Benedict had a mean head for strategy; Bernardus went into healing while Benedict found his place at the Ministry. Still, not having his brother has left him feeling almost hollow, as though there's a crevice where his heart should be.

Benedict was the only person he ever told about Kingsley, and always insisted he did the right thing when he began to waver or express doubts. He loves the boy, but has always struggled to love him as a son instead of something more akin to a nephew. Soft purist/classist (like ideally marries like, but friends need only be human). Suggested PB is Johnny Flynn with alternatives to have light hair.

Understandably, she took her father's passing hard, even compared to her siblings, though still tries to remain lighthearted around Mama, figuring Cosmina already has enough storm clouds overhead. Iseult spent some time at Pendergast's, making her debut in 1894. This was owing to a few (thoroughly quashed!) rumours about her behaviour at the Hogwarts CoB, and to be fair, she has been a model of good behaviour ever since. Besides, Aunt Evelyn's school wasn't bad, and she even met the love of her life there!

Which is only problematic in that Iseult is expected to marry a man, and LOHR is very much a girl. A mild inconvenience.

The two have hatched a plan: they will take a leafe out of Iseult's mother's book and marry a pair of brothers. Then, they may spend as much time together as they wish, raise families together, etc. Simplicity itself, no?

Bubbly and clever, but not exactly devoted to her studies, Hermia sees Hogwarts as what one does rather than something she yearns for and, to be fair, she's not exactly wonderful at wandwork (this may be a factor. Maybe.). By contrast, Demetria has always had most things come easily to her, and magic has proven no different. Like their mother and aunt before them, the twins are very close, but each is privately very glad to have an opportunity to spread her wings and see what else the world has to offer outside the family. As they're identical twins, the first to pick one up chooses the face, which should be blonde or brunette.

Each year he eagerly awaits his return to the testosterone-laden halls of Hogwarts, his friends, and his crush-of-the-moment, though this most recent return had the added advantage of taking him out of what he presently views as a shrine to grief. Kaatjie's uncle, Klaas (born 1855) was always a lot more responsible than his only sister — while Adriana was cavorting around Europe, impulsively marrying Don Juan Dempsey, Klaas was moving to Britain, establishing himself in his career, and marrying a responsible British debutante. He was softened by the death of his son, Willem, in 1890, and took time off work to care for his sister at the end of her life in 1892. In early 1893, Klaas brought Kaatjie to Britain with him, came up with a vague backstory for her, and was determined to keep her away from any of the Dempseys in order to avoid a scandal (but did tell Don Juan he would care for her via letter.) Klaas was born in the Netherlands and attended Beauxbatons. I think Klaas-ambassador would be funny so he has to deal with his feelings about Dempseys at the Ministry. Klaas is predominately responsible and stoic, but soft with his children and niece — and could be keeping additional secrets of his own. Pictured is Mike Colter; alternatives to be Black. He is currently suing the Dempseys. "Charlotte" Spaans née --- MCAB | OPEN HOUSE | HOUSEWIFE "Charlotte," b. 1858-1861, is Kaatjie's aunt — her natal family and her relationship with them are super open. She has a love match with Klaas, and married someone who was maybe less-established than her family may have preferred because of it. While the loss of two of their sons has made Klaas softer, it's done the opposite to "Charlotte" — who is trying very hard to raise her children to be the Victorian ideal. She has a particular focus on Kaatjie, given the drama of Kaat's mother, who she never met. (Adriana not attending the wedding was, at the time, big drama for Klaas.) Charlotte is not particularly thrilled with Kaat as their boarder, but really does not want her niece to know! Pictured is Issa Rae, but play-by is wide open, including race. Mila Spaans MCHB | NOT GRYFFINDOR | THIRD OR FOURTH YEAR Kaat's very cool older cousin, Mila is confident, determined to be popular, and perhaps a sufferer from Oldest Daughter Syndrome. Arie Spaans MCHB | CHILD| FUTURE FIRST YEAR Born in late 1883, Arie is immensely jealous that Kaatjie's at Hogwarts before him. He is also, probably, her best friend. Arie's personality is fairly open, but he's less excitable than Kaatjie and less confident than Mila — which is, sometimes, difficult for him. He is Very aware that he's his father's only boy, and may feel pressure because of it. Pictured is Miles Brown, but PB is open as long as they're Black or mixed race.

He looks up to his big sister but does enjoy teasing her like little brothers are prone to doing, he is very excited about her wedding. He is of average intelligence and stands to inherit the DeCroix Household eventually. Most other personality traits are not established.

Not much is established regards Beatrice's personality other than the fact that she and her sister do not get along. Antelope is not looking forward to her joining the school in September 1895. What the reasons are for this is anyone's guess and they may even get over it as they get older but right now they have a “weird older sister” and “annoying little sister” relationship.

Suggested PB - Ariel Winter

Sheridan is Harrison's cousin and as she has no older brothers, he fulfills that role for her. As of 94/95 she is in fourth year and is a Ravenclaw. Harrison is a generous man who likes to share the wealth that his line of the family has earned about so they would likely be well acquainted from family gatherings. She is quite intrigued by his courtships hoping he might find himself someone good and would know a couple of the debutantes he dated (and also been probed for information on the). She could be a good candidate for prefect duty come September.

The Last of the Bixbys

Names are pretty fixed, but can go by nicknames!

The Bixbys haven't had it easy for the last couple of years. After Sloane's disappearance and Wally's injuries, things are slowly starting to get back to normal. How Mama & Papa Bixby are handing things is pretty open!

Harrison Bixby Guy Remmers

1870 | MCHB | unattached | 8+ rep creature-induced injuries healer (either hospital) The epitome of a middle child, Harry is typically in the background. Steadfast and reliable, he's never had the need to be the center of attention like Sloane or to prove himself like Alvin or Rufus. He is content to do his own thing and play a supporting role in his family. He was probably pretty rocked by Sloane's "death" (disappearance) and probably tries to subtly stay on top of Wally's recovery without smothering him as he wasn't allowed to help with direct care in the aftermath of the dragon attacks. He is currently abroad with Sloane and though did not enjoy the voyage to get there, is into it now! Alternatively, his childhood friend Josiah Hatchitt is also up for grabs!

Carson Bixby Clive Owen

1834 | MCHB | married | rep 8+ Quidditch Coach A former quidditch player himself, Carson now coaches (team open, but probably not wherever Rufus has played!). He's always loved the sport and makes a good go of it! An involved father, mostly in the ways of amusing his children, he was always out there in the back yard playing pickup games. His marriage to Fiona was one of mutual affection that grew into love over time.

The McKinnons, though a respectable family, are a bit of an oddity in London. Having all been adopted by Grace McKinnon, a well off middle class widow, the siblings are not blood-related. All were adopted from the orphanage in a series of fortunate events that all saw them friends beforehand. They play off each other well like any other family, and are especially attuned to each other when it comes to the family grapevine. They are incredibly loyal to each other and like to bond over scrimmaging quidditch as a past time.

All of them sport a ring that they keep on their person at all times — some wear it on a chain around their necks, and others on their hands. Each person has a unique pattern they tap out onto the ring's surface with their wand if they need emergency aid. There are only a handful of times in the past years that a family emergency has been triggered.

Elizabeth “Eliza” McKinnon

Hit Witch/Auror | b. 1863

Despite her job, Eliza is the most patient and mild-mannered of the bunch, and doesn’t like to jump into things too quickly unless it’s to put herself between an innocent and danger (it’s lucky that they all live together, otherwise Derek would run himself ragged with how many times he has to heal Eliza after work). Intelligent, and perceptive, Eliza is a pillar of strength for the McKinnons. When trouble comes, she’s usually the first to jump feet first, elbows out to rally the rest of them. If someone’s in trouble expect her to be the first one there. It’s Eliza and Adam who have taken on the mantle as heads of the family, and as such they often find themselves as the problem solvers. Edith McKinnon

The Healer, also dubbed The Worrier by Derek, Edie spends half her time worrying about her older siblings, and the other amount of times worried about her younger siblings. She's always been a bit more timid than the others, but no less eager to join the family in their weekly scrimmage. Dedicated to her work, Edie is often out of the house on calls for clients. She is an Optimist and Romantic and hopes to find a husband, however she is absolutely adamant that they be approved by her brothers and sisters. Pictured is Sophie Nelisse with alternatives completely open.

Isabeau McKinnon

❧ THE TRUTH SEEKER ❧

It’s a toss up between Isabeau and Eliza for who gives their brothers the most grey hairs. If Eliza is willing to put herself between a citizen and a dark wizard without a second thought, Isabeau doesn’t really pay attention to any of guidelines that she should, unless it’s to chide one of her siblings for putting themselves in danger. She’s called on Derek more than once to help get her out of the oddest situations, and once fished out she usually heads right back in. With ink stained hands and spectacles that often get lost, Isabeau’s curiosity is bound to get the better of her one of these days. The family can hardly blame her though, and they usually give her a pass. They’ve stopped asking for explanations for her reasons for getting into trouble in the meantime, and Isabeau is hoping it stays that way. Otherwise she’ll eventually have to provide an explanation for why she’s kept her blood curse a secret for so long. Pictured is Skai Jackson with alternatives to be POC w/ an ingenue vibe.

Together Jack and Derek are often referred to as the Dynamic Duo. Jack is the Chaos while Derek usually tries to rein him in at least a little. Along with Adam they are fiercely protective over their sisters, and Jack often tries to get Edie to agree to more outlandish things in attempts to get her out of her comfort zone. He's had a few Quidditch injuries in the past, but is quite dedicated to the sport; a bit like the Energizer Bunny in real life, Jack is a true extrovert and adrenaline junkie. Derek and Edith are convinced he'll actually be the death of them. Pictured is Tyler Posey with alternatives completely open.

Perdita maintains a complex yet supportive relationship with her younger sibling. The four-year age gap would foster a dynamic in which Perdita would often assume a natural leadership role; her personality would amplify this tendency. Her intentions are rooted in the desire to guide and protect her younger sibling, even though she sometimes comes across as slightly overbearing or directive.

While occasionally bristling under Perdita's assertive nature, the youngest Bloomfield child also benefited from Perdita's drive and forward-thinking. Perdita's optimism and enthusiasm often inspired the youngest sibling. This inspiration would push them to explore newfound interests and overcome challenges.

As the youngest Bloomfield child matured, it was evident that Perdita's protective instincts would evolve into a nuanced form of support. Perdita would remain a steadfast ally, offering solutions and insights when her little brother or sister faced difficulties. There's an underlying foundation of affection and mutual respect, even though their interactions might still feature moments of playful dominance from Perdita; she deeply cares for her younger sibling and celebrates their successes with characteristic enthusiasm, despite her sometimes intense demeanor.

HOGWARTS HOUSE: Hogwarts House possibilities are wide open! Will the youngest Bloomfield child follow in Perdita's footsteps and be a part of Slytherin, or will a different Hogwarts House claim their newfound allegiance during their time at the school thus far? I am open to hearing your thoughts on this.

FACE CLAIMS: For a visual idea, a young Christina Ricci or a young Keira Knightley are the face claims that I would envision if Perdita were to have a sister, and a young Leonardo DiCaprio or a young Elijah Wood are the face claims that I would envision if Perdita were to have a brother. While these are possible play-bys, please know that I'm very open to other suggestions that may suit the role of the youngest Bloomfield child well! The most important thing out of all of this is finding a face claim that inspires you the most and can resonate with the character concept.

MISS HOPEWELL

B. 1860-1870 | MCPB/MCHB | OPEN HOUSE/SCHOOLING | GOVERNES-CUM-SCHOLAR

For the past 3-5 years, Miss Hopewell (name open!) has served as Jocasta's dutiful governess. For the past two years, Orson has viewed her less as staff and more as something akin to a sister as they've endeavoured to raise Jocasta and overcome The Fire together. Her background is relatively open, though she's probably pureblooded. She should have attained at least OWLs/equivalent and her reputation should be above reproach. Patient and level-headed, she is genuinely fond of the Flints, and has grown comfortable challenging them (privately) when they're being stubborn or short-sighted.

With Jocasta off to school in the autumn, Miss Hopewell will be taking on a new challenge: Orson is sponsoring her education at the Flint Institute, where she will be studying spirits. Neither of them are willing to endure the horrors of Delphinia again. She was injured in the fire; whether that has had lasting impacts or not is up to her player. Ethnicity and PB are wide open, but pictured is Freida Pinto.

BENILDA

Smack dab in the middle of the Flint siblings, as a child Benilda lorded her year-and-a-bit over Ursula as though it were the holy grail itself; as an adult, they are "practically the same age". The two have never exactly gotten along, something that Orson has stayed out of, first by virtue of not bloody caring, and second by virtue of leaving the country for a decade. Orson has much the same relationship with Benilda as he does with Ursula: some affection and loyalty by virtue of being family, but they don't really know one another properly at this stage of their lives.

She is married or widowed, with at least one child or Ursula would have lorded fertility over her by now. Benilda was previously played as a Greengrass, but this is flexible to allow her existing in-laws (and because existing Greengrassess are woefully poor).The suggested PB is Laura Donnelly with alternatives to have features in common with both siblings.

They do, after all, look strikingly similar. If she is presently married(/widowed), it was probably an arranged match; if she is still looking for a husband, it is likely her father has passed in the interveneing years before lining something up for her. Her family is at least soft purist and decidedly classist. Pictured is Jessica De Gouw, but this is wide open! I'm open to an existing character if you're open to retconning in a dead sister!

Jameson's only biological sister, Elspeth was born after their father's passing, and with her birth, extinguished their mother's life. An orphan out of the gate, she has always felt slightly adrift in spite of the family's efforts to include her and unabashed love for her; this is intensified by the fact that she is an introvert, and finds having so many relatives (the Longbottoms, the Prewetts, the Brownes) #Invested in her overwhelming at times. Jameson is her rock, though, and fortunately, Odira #GetsHer. Depending on when in the year she was born, she will go to Hogwarts in either 1895 or 1896. Suggested PB is Holly Taylor with alternatives to have dark hair (father) or red hair (mother).

Selene is an incoming first (if born after 1st September) or second year (if born before), and the youngest of a fairly close-knit family in Bartonburg. Selene’s childhood was thus a fairly loving one, though she may have been affected by the reported death of her father in 1888 and the simmering household tension of the years prior, though unaware of any secrets being kept from her. She has a close playmate in brother Nat, and her half-siblings are also pretty protective of her. The Gallivans have a lot of ties to quidditch, so she is probably fairly knowledgeable on the sport, though her interest (or lack thereof!) in it is entirely up to you, as is most else about her! Reserved for Miri!

Oldest girl of the Whiteldge family and twin of Handsome Whitledge, Cupcake has been a wonderful image of society lady. The only point against her would be seen in her home as she tends towards attempting to bake her own pastries when time allows. And not good pastries, though her husband probably pretends to love them as a form of affection. Husband's family is open - no current or serious past scandals. Cupcake and Handsome have always been close. While less harsh than Handsome when handling Sweetie, Cupcake will side with Handsome on the majority of disputes and avoid getting involved unless genuinely pressed.

Honey Whitledge

b. Post-Sep-1874 | UCHB | Hufflepuff House | Open | Emma Kenney

Honey and Sweetie used to be thick as thieves, until Honey's first year. Upon being temporarily placed in Slytherin when the sorting hat was stolen by Peeves, only to return and sort her into Hufflepuff, everything fell apart over petty squabbles and superficial house pride. It is open for discussion if bridges have been mended, and perhaps a thread or two in the past?

During her younger years, she had goals to join some form of career endeavors. Since her falling out with Sweetie, Handsome's influence vs. that of their parents', and their other sisters' being debutantes, it's open to player whether or not Honey continued to stay true to exploring her own career goals and passions, or if she felt the social expectations weighing upon her and decided that she didn't like the idea of being compared to Sweetie. Should she be interested in pursuing a career goal, she has delayed such pursuit for the sake of providing some form of peace in the household and as a way to get out of the house faster by finding a husband as a full-time debutante.

While Honey did graduate in 1893 she did not debut until 1894 due to a mutual decision between herself and Handsome to go into finishing school due to Darling still being out and Sweetie's ministerial election campaign. Still, now she is out and Darling is out, but at least Sweetie and Cupcake have found husbands!

This is Ophelia, June’s (younger) identical twin sister. They do not get along at all, and well, June used to hex her at Hogwarts (she gave her antlers once just for fun), and in turn Ophelia would dish it right back.The Edevane family dabble in dark magic (their father has tried and failed to bring back their dead mother), but Ophelia can feel however she wants about that - June embraces it. How she feels about the Season is up to you, or you could even have her engaged or married if that tickles your fancy; June doesn’t take it quite seriously, although this year she might, mainly because of her little race with Beckett. Either way, she'd want to be married before her sister, just because that's their relationship.


Also available: Alistair Edevane, their father, who lost the love of his life when his wife died. His life ambition is to somehow bring her back to life. He's remarried to Grace Edevane, who is the bane of June's existence.
