Martin Ruskin

b. Post-September, 1841 | MCHB | Ravenclaw* | Hogsmeade Hospital Director** | Karl Urban

Martin is a loving and dedicated father. His relationship with his own father is positive, though he has a distant relationship with his mother and sister. He fell in love with a vampire, then was left by her. When she came back, he'd long since divorced her for abandonment and wasn't interested in rekindling anything. Especially since he had their children to think about. He is not outright political like his second eldest daughter but is a quiet supporter that has allowed her to act as she will. He had long since worried that none of his daughters would marry, so his daughter marrying up was a relief for the sake of having stability for her life. This has given him less strain with his younger two daughters, though he would prefer that they both marry for their own stability in life.

Let's be real here. Martin adores being a grandfather. His first grandchild is a welcome addition to the family, and he is excited for the potential future of further grandchildren from his children.

*The history records show him as Head Boy in his seventh year and I would appreciate if that can remain the case. The prefect position is open as well.
**There is one position available and while I would love for him to take it, I understand that this may not be possible by the time he is taken. I would still love him to be part of Hogsmeade Hospital to some capacity.

Orinda Ruskin

b. 1874 | MC Half-Vampire | Open House | Open Occupation | Helena Barlow

Youngest daughter from Martin Ruskin's first marriage, her personality is largely open — though she would be unlikely to cause family scandal. She is, however, more level-headed than Chrysanta when it comes to temper on the day-to-day from Acacia's perspective. Take that or leave it as one will.

PB is Montana Jordan !! Potential Prefect Application! ! He was seven when his father died tragically and ten when his mother remarried and brought her young family to live with the Ruskins. Ariel loves him and was often his shadow growing up as they really had nobody else. His opinion of his step/new family/father is open to interpretation but having spent a large portion of his childhood being the man around the house it’s safe to say he’s protective of Ariel and Evangeline at least and isnt the type of kid being a couch surfer and waste time (I chose Montana because Young Sheldon sibs but you could totally work with that and make him an entrepeneur or something). His feeling over his younger sister joining him at school may also be complicated.

Evangeline Sherington

Evangeline’s father died before she was born and her mother remarried when she was 3. Probably the most used to chaos that is the Ruskin’s house she now has got to prepare for a life without her elder sister as Ariel joins Malachai at school. Life with Ariel was never boring for her as it’s a constant show - from the games that Ariel would concoct, plays that they’d act out, songs that she would act as audience for, musicals that they would try and remember… however the count down is on for this sweet angel as come September Ariel will be at school and she will be the eldest and left to look after her three half siblings.

Sophia Ruskin

Ariel’s mother Zophiel, or as she prefers “Sophie”, was pregnant with her third child when she was widowed tragically in 1887. She would later remarry a widow with his older half-vampire children in 1890 bringing their families together - and together they would have three more children together. She was previously a member of the Church of Magical Jesus but her ties to the church, and her parents, had been largely strained since prior to her marriage which only complicated things further. She is open-minded and loving and enjoys studying mythologies/theologies on the side, enjoying naming her children based on these stories. She is currently restricted on bedrest as her most recent pregnancy has had its complications (due late september) and is forced to rely on her step-children and employees to manage the household.

THE PRANKSTER 1877 | GRYFFINDOR GRAD '95 | SINGLE 8/9 REP | OPEN Henry is the youngest of the Thompsett siblings but the brother who is the closest to Sisse. He's way more laidback and cheerful than their eldest brother Matthew and has been known as a bit of a prankster during his days at Hogwarts. His career is open as he has just returned home from Hogwarts. He may or may not develop feelings to rival those of Matthew's for his distant cousin Miss Birdie Chattaway who will be staying with them for the season.

The Hatchitts, like many of their neighbors and friends are a fairly close-knit group, though tend to be wildly different in personality. Eldest brother Jesse Hatchitt has settled into his ministry job and married life with his wife, Marianne; as has sister Connie with her family; sister Victoria remains unwed, but content, possibly working; Lester is attempting to make his way into adulthood and floundering a little bit. And by a little bit, it’s actually a lot. Unfortunately, youngest sister, Mercy, was lost to the Laughing Plague in 84, having never been in the best of health.

1870 | MCHB | unattached | 8+ rep open occupation Josiah, as with his likely bff Harrison Bixby, suffers a bit from Middle Child Syndrome. It’s not as bad as Harrison’s, but it’s still noticeable. He's been mentioned being flirtatious in past threads, despite not being hurling-age at the time - (he approaches it rapidly!) - but this isn’t something that needs to be strictly kept. He may just be looking for some attention outside his normal sphere and figuring out how best to go about it. His opinion on all of the current drama is also open, as is his general (dis)interest. Lester and Josiah like each other, but they're not besties, and often don't understand each other. Bee has some additional (optional) ~plot nuggets in mind for him, so feel free to ask via PM or DM.

early 1882 | MCHB | unattached | 8+ rep rising third year, any house Jack has put all of his effort into being a present and available father in the wake of his first wife's death ten years ago. Emerson was only three and a half when his mother died, but he may have some memories of her. He was the only thing keeping his father from a full breakdown and may or may not have internalized that. This could go one of two ways; they are thick as thieves or Emerson may find it suffocating as he gets older. Which way it goes will also probably impact his opinions on his father getting back into the dating pool as it were. Summer time is the best time for awkward potential new family gatherings! Really it's all open for discussion!

Ryder Titanus Lukeson

His birth was literally documented on site, as was the death of his mother shortly thereafter. His father has slowly come out of his shock from the matter and keeps Ryder close as a result. While Ryder has no memory of his late mother, his father did make the effort of offering stories every now and again. From their Hogwarts days along with their brief marriage. Now it is up to the rest of the Lukeson siblings to carry that mantle now that both of Ryder's parents have passed on.

King Lukeson

King has always been a sensitive soul and not one for conflict. He actively advocates for the route of peace within his family and would try to calm the tensions before resulting in raising his own voice on a matter. His parents deaths/disappearances have taken a toll and King would likely have been diagnosed with a form of anxiety today. Still, he carries on and Ace saw fit to see him off to tour various countries and 'find himself' before actually finding a career path and getting back to the Lukeson Chaos until rather recently. Now he is back and is just now beginning his career, whatever that may be. Where did he go since graduating? That is up to whomever plays him! Reserved for Arcadia!

Roselle Lukeson

The youngest child of Ryder and Guinevere Lukeson, Roselle has little to no memory of her mother. She may or may not have been greatly influenced by Aunt Jade during the time where she was primarily under her guidance.

Edgar Rey

Patriarch to the Rey family, Edgar Rey loves his children with his life... except his squib son. For his first-born son to turn out to be a squib had been a crushing blow for Edgar. Later for that same son to marry a muggleborn and his twin — who had been born with magic — to not marry at all and then die, it has been a crushing blow for Mr. Rey. The legal heir to Edgar's fortune would be his halfblood grandson Edgar Rey II, which he sees as a slap in the face. He hopes that a will would override this and leave the estate to one of his daughters' children — Ace King or John. Ace wouldn't have wanted it and King possibly won't either, John probably does, all the while Hubert thinks his father is being absolutely ridiculous. No. Hubert has never been publicly disowned for being a squib. Lacy Rey would never let her husband hear the end of it if he even tried.

Lacy Rey née ___

Lacy Rey is a bit 'out there'. People probably assume that's where Guinevere got it from. Lacy is where Avril's seer ability comes from, being a seer herself, though she's far less likely to advertise it to others. She was sad when learning of her son being a squib, having not had a vision of it before finding out. She worries about receiving judgement from others or being used for her seer abilities, which has been what has led to her keeping her abilities primarily to herself.
She did have a vision of Sybille being a powerful witch one day, on the day that Sybille shows her first signs of magic. Watching Sybille become more 'proper' and 'regal' has become quite alarming to the older woman, as she has this sense of dread. Something must change, and soon.
Lacy's family is open, should a played cousin branch want to tie in grandmothers, but I ain't adding a new full branch to this wanted ad so nice try!

Nora Lukeson née ___

b. 1824 | UCPB | Any House | Socialite | PLAY BY

Nora never knew about Ryder's secret. She never confirmed Ace's either. What she does know is that her family has been through tragedy after tragedy. Nora primarily lived on the Lukeson Estate by her lonesome until Ace's death, so when Ace had begun his more recent visits, they were a welcome surprise. Despite never having confirmed the family secrets, Nora is no fool. There always seems to be something about her boys and that particular time of the month... it always comes back to the woods. With them gone, aside from King who's only symptom is mass anxiety, Nora now has the guidance of her remaining granddaughters to manage — along with her great-grandson. She will also check in with her other two children and their families from time to time.

The Rey Branch

Hubert Rey

b. 1850 | UC Squib | Open | Ryan Gosling

Hubert was always the more rational twin. The calm one. The levelheaded one. Charles and he would have always said 'the Ravenclaw twin, certainly'. Then Charles died. Making sure that Hubert's son was safe from a damned flying tiger of all things. Hubert just can't make sense of that. Then his sister, the one that actually gives a damn about him, allegedly dies and comes back just to run off when things get to be too much. Because things really seem to be too much in that house. Poor Ace. That kid had been through hell. Now he's dead! Hubert and Brenda try not to be too much, but perhaps that should have been what they needed to be, because look where that got him. Jade, verbally beating the spirit out of Sybille to the point where Fleur can't really recognize her much anymore. She'd never tell Sybille, but she cries some nights. Hubert blames himself. He should have been there for his nephew. But he had his own kids to think of. He just couldn't stop thinking, where was Guinevere?

Brenda Rey née ___

b. 1851 | UCMB | Hufflepuff House | Open | Nicole Beharie

She is a very sweet woman and was best friends of Guinevere Lukeson. They went to school together, both being in Hufflepuff. Though not quite as bubbly as Guinevere, she is very loyal to those she cares about. Guinevere's disappearance impacted her greatly and she has since attempted to focus all of her energy on her work and her children. She does not like her other sister-in-law, Jade, and the feeling is quite mutual. Her natal family is open, should she have any fellow muggleborn cousins.

Edgar Charles Rey II

b. post-Sep 1873 | UCHB | Gryffindor House | Open | PLAY BY

The young Mister Rey was never quite fond of being named after his purist grandfather, and quite often prefers to be called after his middle name in honor of his late uncle. He took muggle studies out of spite, much as Ace before him. During their younger years, he and King were never quite close as King's anxiety had always felt quite daunting. As the two grew and matured, they grew closer despite being a school year difference and of different houses. After Edgar's graduation, he did join his cousin on tour and has joined in the return, though it is open if the two young men are in the same — or at least similar — career paths.

Bellerose Rey

b. Sep 1875 | UCHB | Slytherdor House | Open | PLAY BY

Bellerose does have a better sense of approaching a situation with grace than Jolie, though once her temper point has been reached, it certainly is far greater of the two. Both girls often teased their younger sisters during when they were between the ages of seven to thirteen, before finally beginning to grow out of the habit. While the blunt comments and lack of patience can be there at times, Bellerose and Jolie have both made it their goal to protect their sisters/cousins, even from family. While Jolie is strictly a deb because she's worried Ace just cannot handle anything else and Jade was being a menace up until recently, Bellerose likely took after her mother and found a career on top of the social scene.

Fleur Rey

b. 1877 | UCHB | Hufflepuff House | Open | PLAY BY

Fleur and Sybille is incredibly close, despite Aunt Jade's best efforts over the past several years. They have grown up together, baked together, got sorted together. Fleur is the only one of her siblings who was born before September like her Lukeson cousins. She and Sybille were sorted into Hufflepuff like their mothers before them, which Fleur excitedly wrote back home the night of. Fast forward and Sybille doesn't get to go to France after a fight with her recently-returned-from-the-'dead' mother. Instead, Sybille gets stuck with extra etiquette lessons from Aunt Jade of all people. It would have stopped after that. Then Lucille dies, she was so nice, and Ace is depressed. Sybille is still mad at her mother and then one day Aunt Guinevere is just gone! Ace can't handle it, so it's more one-on-one time with Aunt Jade and Sybille, though Jolie gets dragged in too. Jolie comes out and Jade is her designated chaperone. Mother and her have words about that, especially after the fourth time that Jolie slips from Jade's sight. So, they alternate. Then Fleur and Sybille comes out, and suddenly Sybille and Jolie have a hired chaperone!

Still, Sybille has certainly changed since the whole 'Jade' years, and Fleur can't help that there are some nights that she comes home to cry when she finally has the door shut behind her. She doesn't want to tell anyone just how much she misses the Sybille that she used to know.

The Operine Branch

Jade Operine née Rey

b. 1846 | UCPB | Ravenclaw House | Socialite | Charlize Theron

Check it out, it's Edgar Rey Senior's new favorite child. With one child being dead, one child MIA, and the other one being a squib, Jade is the no-brainer winner. Too bad she's not a son. Instead, she's the nagging aunt who only half of her son's seem to get along with, along with her social circles. Her mother is loving, but there is some tension. Jade certainly knows where to overstep but never seems to know when not to when it comes to family. In society, however, she can learn to reign it in. Her views are often more toned down, though you will never see her rooting for the underdog. She has no daughters, so helping the Lukeson girls was a big plus to her social calendar until this last May.

Alex Operine

b. 1840 | UCPB | Open House | Open | Ethan Hawke

While he would never argue with his wife, he isn't nearly as strict about his views as she. His squib brother-in-law is more an eyebrow raised than an embarrassment or anything else along those lines. What is more on the line of shocking is the muggleborn sister-in-law that he married. Alex has never been snobbish towards her, but they aren't close. He would rather steer clear of conflict when possible and sees Guinevere as foolish for running off when things got too hard. If anything, he admires the late Charles Rey greatly. A man who often stood up to Edgar senior, Alex often tried to bond with him despite his wife's mild annoyance.

John Operine

John is a firstborn son and he knows it. He playfully likes to remind his brothers of that fact every now and again. There is a fair chance he chose a life of leisure over a career. His mother gives him the 'do no wrong' treatment and his father overcompensates by being strict. John and Ace have often not gotten along. Especially since John is certainly a purist. Should anyone wish to give him a career, a fun added twist could be the Werewolf Capture Unit, though this may be playing just a bit too close to home. John may be on the marriage market or recently attached/engaged/married

Charles Operine

b. pre-Sep 1869 | UCPB | Ravenpuff House | Open | PLAY BY

Whether or not they were in the same house together, Ace and Charles were certainly in the same year together and have been close since childhood. Charles is the least purist of his siblings, often bickering with his mother the more he gets older. He has recently entered the marriage market and would rather not marry into a family that his mother deems to her standard. He does wonder if this means he may lose some of the privilege that he has grown up accustomed to...

Eric Operine

Eric definitely has middle-child-syndrome. He is closest with his father and possibly works in whatever field his father does. He strives for perfection and tries to live up to whatever that means.

Lucas Lukeson

Lucas has always had a tone of arrogance. A way about him that one either found charming or obnoxious. Perhaps he was trying too hard as a second son. He was there, you know, when Ryder was bitten. Him, Ryder, Hope. They all made an Unspeakable Vow. Lucas began to resent that vow. So much. So maybe a carriage accident wasn't much of an accident. Maybe a kidnapping wasn't as random as so many people thought. People still don't even look his way. He may never have got anything out of it, but look at that household now? Ryder, the werewolf heir gone. His widow crazed and in the wind. Their son, a shell of himself. All it cost him? A decent name to leave behind. Not that his sons are left standing anyway.

Lavinia ___ née Lukeson

b. 1873 | UCPB | Open House | Socialite | PLAY BY

Lavinia is incredibly kind. More often than not, she was primarily left to the care of nanny or governess before Hogwarts, with little to no time with her father. She has vague recollection of her mother, who passed in 1876 in childbirth. Lavinia never got to meet her first brother, who died at the age of two a year before her birth, but she got to know her younger brother for several years before he died in a tragic accident which further left their father jaded and distant. Lavinia takes solace in writing to any cousins and friends that can make the time and the time at Hogwarts was a wonderful experience to branch out further.

By the time of her debut, Lavinia was eager to make her way out of her father's house in speedy time. By late 1894 Lavinia would be wed.

Thelma Lukeson

b. 1876 | UCPB | Slytherin House | Debutante | PLAY BY

Thelma cannot stand the Lukeson name. Cannot stand reading it in her issue of Witch Weekly every so often. Cannot stand looking at the latest Daily Prophet revelation that comes about. Cannot stand being attached to such an unruly family! Thelma would rather be the next nameless debutante, or better yet a Ministry no name that someone takes no notice in. If her father didn't forbid careers, she would be in research and climbing the ladder in academia of whatever peaked her interest.

Hope Weston née Lukeson

Hope was there on that fateful night. The night Ryder was bitten and charged with the name 'werewolf'. It was her idea... no, demand that they make the unspeakable vow. First among the siblings, then among the healer that they went to that saved their brother from death's clutches. To summarize, the secret remains to the Lukeson name.

Percival Weston

b. 1871 | UCHB | Any House | Open | PLAY BY

Percival has been the head of his family home since the laughing plague of 1884 upon his father's death, though he has let his mother take lead until more recent years. He got married in early 1895 due to being the head of house and needing to sire heirs, though he does hold some affection towards his new bride. Will that affection grow or fade is up to both players.

The Young Mrs. Weston

b. post-Sep 1875-pre-Sep 1876 | UCAB | Any House | Socialite | PLAY BY

The Young Mrs. Weston just graduated Hogwarts when she and Percival first met. They soon began courting and became engaged by the end of summer in her first season. Whatever the reason that she was eager to be a socialite rather than a fresh-faced deb is up to player, but she should publicly be at least a 7+ of rep. Have a double-up wanted in mind? The more the marrier!

Theodore Weston

Theodore has been wanting to get more involved in social activist movements such as women's rights and non-human rights, and is likely in the Beast or Being Department of the Ministry in some capacity.

THE UNSPEAKABLE

AGE 50-70 | WCAB/MCAB | SLYTHERCLAW | DEPARTMENT OF MYSTERIES

One of two unspeakables assigned to Win’s ‘case’, "Eidyia" both investigated the original case and followed up with Win each year to follow until Win joined the Ministry of Magic herself. Eidyia became attached to the young girl over time, and Win now spends Christmas, and visits semi-regularly, with Eidyia and her “housemate” Dove. They are the closest thing Win has to family. Eidyia did not want Win to become an Archivist, and goes out of her way to avoid interacting with Win within the Department of Mysteries. Though she’s never admitted as much to the witch, she wonders if the Department doesn’t exploit Win and those like her for its own ends. Eidiya can best be described as intelligent and pensive, more likely to listen than to speak. Name, ethnicity, and face are all wide open—pictured is Michelle Yeoh.

A healer at St Mungo’s, "Dove" has been Eidyia’s partner for about two decades now, and serves as the perfect balance to her “housemate”; she is best described as warm and open, though this should not be taken for weakness—Dove is fiercely loyal to those she cares about. Dove chose romantic love over motherhood in spite of a desire for children, but has always been patient in her relationship with Win and let Win set her own boundaries. She does view Win as the closest thing she’ll ever have to a daughter, though, and is just as attached to her as Eidyia is, in her own way. “Geoffrey” was Valiant’s best friend at Hogwarts, and took his friend’s passing hard. When Win started at Hogwarts, he stepped in when she was bullied for her vanished arm, and did his best to fill the role of “big brother” to her (in spite of not having any younger siblings of his own). He does not live in Hogsmeade nor does he work at the Ministry so they do not see one another often, but Win always brightens up when they do. She has had something of a crush on him since she was sixteen, but he is (she hopes) oblivious to this. I’m open to this being fulfilled by an appropriate existing character! Killian and Georgette have always been close. Close enough that people have speculated for years that they're more than siblings to each other. But they're not. In fact, Killian finds the rumors rather funny. Whether Georgette finds these rumors funny or not...well.

Married in 1862, to a man tentatively named Demetrios, Georgette struggled, like her mother, to produce heirs for her husband. But she did, in the end, at least produce two daughters. Then, her husband was killed by a werewolf while they were staying at his family estate. Rather than moving in with her parents, Georgette and Killian have gone in together on a house in London.

Georgette has one older child, likely born in 1876 and probably another daughter. Any other children will be children born after the daughter seen below, but before 1891.

GOOD OL' GRANDAD "SEAMUS" HALLORAN.

Irish Immigrant, ABWC, Born approx 1835 but open to discussion. OPEN PB - Pictured is Brendan Gleeson

He's an Apothecary (he could be THE APOTHECARY] if the spots available) who moved to the Slums in 1877 and lost his wife to the Laughing Plague in 84. Originally he threw his daughter out when she became pregnant out of wedlock . A gruff, tough sort of man he hides a soft heart and can be a bit of a bleeding heart for a cause sometimes undercharging, or failing to charge those he believes cant afford it to the chagrin of his daughter and granddaughter (If youve seen the Apothecary diaries he's a bit like Loumen with a dose gruff old man from classic British sitcoms from the era of Mrs Brown Boys/Vicar of Dibley - etc. Those two come to mind first). It is this for reason they still live in the Slums and not the more gentrified Pennysworth however at the end of the day he can be relied upon in his neighbourhood to help out without judgement even if you dont have the money now. He will even accept payment in Kind. He does know his stuff and besides the bleeding heart is very clever when it comes to his special interest Potions, Herbology, incredients, and even the creation of artifacts that require his wares. Would be cute if he's referred to as Old Man Halloran but names open.

"BRIDGET" HALLORAN, "MA"

Irish Immigrant, ABWC, Agewise: pretty much open but she did have a 15 year old out of wedlock. OPEN PB - Pictured is Natasha Lyonne

The direct opposite of her father - Bridget has the appearance of someone who could be soft and sweet but has a hidden steely backbone. She's also an apothecary - and Maeve has never been sure if her existence was on purpose or by accident as she has both the access and know how to prevent both pregnancy and induce miscarriage. She's also never had any other children despite having a few discreet gentleman callers throughout the years. It is often up to her to temper her fathers heart and its often up to her to ensure that they actually have income... which is luckily because her steel also means they can afford the more rare, pricey, exotic ingredients. She is close to her family and loves them dearly.

THE GHOST.

The ghost of a former landlord . He is rather tightlipped about his demise and is the forth member of the family. Everything else about him is pretty much open - and he pretty much interacts with the family in a similar way to the "Ghosts" show.

"Sally" the Bedfellow

"Sally" is a female-presenting WC character between 20-60 and otherwise everything to do with their background/ history is open. Sally is a bedfellow in the most literal sense of the word — she and Diligent share a bed in a one-bed flat. He pays the rent, so she benefits financially, and she has her life slightly more together than him (not a high bar to clear) so he benefits from having her around to remember things like restocking tea and telling the landlord when something is broken. They are generally friendly but do regularly argue — particularly when he misses the rent payment and they have to move (she holds some of her own money back and will rent rooms-by-night if she can't stay with friends in these situations, until he finds another place and convinces her back).

Would she spend the evening tending to his black eye if he got in a bar fight? Yes.

Would she pay his bail if he were taken in on a petty criminal charge? No.

Would she leave a tea out for him if he overslept in the morning? Yes.

Would she take his side in a debate if they were out at a pub together? No.

Do they occasionally sleep together? Yes but it's not a thing so don't make it a thing.

They're like a dysfunctional married couple but without the "married." Open to existing characters if one fits. Pictured is Rachel Sennott.

After being given a private, tutor-based education, Jae-hyun spent much of his younger, more reckless years as a cursebreaker, before he met his wife and settled down in London to expand his learning and, eventually, become a healer (in 1879). He follows Confucian ideals, and has instilled these morals into his children (or at least, he tried). He may not approve of his son's reckless behavior, but he, too, was a reckless young man at one point, so he forgives and hopes his son will one day grow into the man he knows he can be.

Due to having a non-traditional education, Jae-hyun briefly worked at the Ministry of Magic, in a capacity far beneath him, until he was able to complete the NEWT Equivalency Programme at the Flint Institute after a brief refreshment of his education. This is due to the tensions between the muggle governments of Korea and Japan which were ongoing at the time of his education. Jae-hyun has additional lore and will require additional research on the part of anyone seeking to adopt him..

As the middle child, you'd almost expect Melissa to be meek, maybe even sweet. But Melissa's always been the sort to subvert expectations. Unlike most middle children, Melissa is quite frigid and even mean to her younger sister from time to time, while also antagonizing her elder brother, especially since both of them have graduated Hogwarts. She doesn't show this side of herself much outside of the home, or inside when her maternal family visits. She was especially hard-hit by Mother's death in 1891, as it was two years before her debut.

She especially adores her cousins, aunt, and uncle, and is, perhaps, Grandmama's favorite granddaughter. She would like to join them in the social stratosphere. She was born in December 1874. Her English name is just a suggestion; her Korean name/middle name, Ye-eun, is not.

Grandmama has never really liked her son-in-law. This only got worse after her only daughter died, as she blamed him for her death. Natalia had never been so interested in the sea before Jae-hyun came into the picture. She does see her granddaughters as extensions of her daughter, though she does recognize that they are not her daughter, especially with Stella's anxiety and Melissa's...Melissa-ness. She also is not a huge fan of her grandson's behavior.

Grandmama was raised in Russia — where? Up to you! — and as such attended Durmstrang, not Hogwarts. How many other children she and her late husband had is open!

Mr. Cowen does not particularly know what to think about his brother-in-law, nieces, or nephew. Especially since he doesn't have much context for what's been going on, unlike his mother. He, his wife, their children, and his mother have all recently moved to London — into a much more fashionable magical neighborhood than Jae-hyun moved into, but not too far away — to provide greater support than just his wife alone could possibly offer.

He is not particularly classist towards Jae-hyun, though he does judge him for not making the social connections to maintain a true upper class lifestyle when he could afford to financially. He is too polite to say anything about this...though his mother and wife are not.

This is not Mrs. Cowen's first time helping her in-laws. When Melissa graduated, she briefly moved into the Dhan home to support her niece during her first season, making necessary introductions. But as soon as she realized Jae-hyun did not like her all that much, she arranged for a social peer to provide further support to Melissa, and returned home, publicly citing that her own children needed her presence. Privately, she got into a significant argument with Jae-hyun over the circumstances.

Other than this information, Mrs. Cowen is quite open, as is how many children she and her husband have had together.

Elias is an inventor by nature, inventing the Ever-Churn Charm, which is just a self-stirring cauldron that maintains the perfect consistency for frozen mixtures. Died young from the Laughing Plague, although he stuck around as a ghost. He’s constantly at the shop. Pictured is Armie Hammer, but face is just a suggestion.

Josephine Fortescue

A muggleborn who didn’t know about magic until she received her Hogwarts letter, Josephine Fortescue is a self-taught herbalist and helps out at the ice cream shop when she can. Josie doesn’t trust magic, but tolerates it. Pictured is Rene Russo, but face is just a suggestion.

Clara is the eldest, and much like their mother, tolerates magic. She married a muggle physician in 1885, who, quite frankly, is obsessed with the honey-lavender flavor Ritchie invented for their wedding. They probably have a couple kids by now. Tabitha Fortescue

Despite being a squib, Tabby is the one Florean is grooming to take over the family shop after he dies. She knows every herb in the garden and keeps the books with exacting precision. In 1888, Tabitha was briefly courted by a young man from a respectable family. Ritchie instantly hated him because he called the shop quaint and adorable. Florean hexed the man’s shoes to squeak every time he steps inside. The courtship mysteriously ended. No one mourned it (except maybe Tabitha?) SULLIVAN THORNE

B. 1861-1863 | MCHB WEREWOLF | HUFFLEDOR | CREATURE-INDUCED INJURIES HEALER

For as long as he could remember, Sullivan Thorne wanted to be a healer. Even his first act of magic was aligned with this, healing a sparrow’s wing. Sully excelled in school, graduating with high marks on his NEWTs, and was easily accepted into a healer training program. Though he may not have begun there, he eventually made his way to creature-induced injuries. In [1888-1889], a patient came in with infected wounds; they said they had worsened for the better part of a month. Had they come in sooner, Sully might have been able to diagnose their source before the moon rose and the new werewolf tore through his examination room, biting him in the process. Sully has always been a rule follower: after the initial grieving, he registered himself with the Ministry of Magic, though has been able to keep his status a secret outside of the family otherwise, bar a senior healer who was present on the night in question and helped to keep his condition under wraps. Romantically, he has always been awkward, but since his turning has actively avoided romantic attachment. Suggested PB is Josh O’Connor.

It takes some doing to be the black sheep in a family that includes a werewolf, but Serena managed it—she can do anything she sets her mind to. She completed seven years at Hogwarts, found an occupation that fulfilled her, married (possibly even upward!), had at least one child prior to Sullivan’s turning…and then completely turned her back on him once it was revealed what he now was. Having been shunned by his own family, their father was unwilling to shun a child who had done nothing wrong, and so Serena essentially became persona non grata. The family has scarcely interacted with her in more than half a decade. Suggested PB is Rachel Brosnahan.

“Queer” in the general sense of the term (but possibly the LGBTQ sense, yolo), “Lynch” has nonetheless always been highly regarded as an auror—incredibly skilled, effective and, surprisingly, very patient with the trainees and younger recruits. This patience does not extend to more established aurors, who often view working with Lynch as both a blessing and a curse. Lynch was Sol’s mentor during training and went on to be Sorcha’s as well, though may now be a trainer in the program if Sorcha is a full auror; Sol remains close with them, and trusts them to keep an eye on his sister. About six months after Sol changed paths, Lynch cornered him and asked which of his siblings was now a werewolf, then narrowed it down (correctly!) after Sol tried to play dumb. With Sully on the appropriate registry, Lynch has never seen any reason to break this trust. Pictured PBs are Alan Cumming/Tilda Swinton.

Some Background Details To Know

A few things to note that aren’t explicitly mentioned/explained in Jin’s app:

• “The Menagerie” is very much like a zoo and a museum in one. The Cursed Five are the main attraction, the live humanoid beings that people come to ogle, but outside of these there are and have been in the past— others. Most hybrids don’t survive long outside the main five, and cursed objects that come in are always for sale. The Collector is not picky about his audiences, but those in the know tend to be from the shadier side of life: your Knockturn sorts and the occasional being as well as the filthy rich and bored or vengeful. Alcohol, alchemy, and atrocity abound.
  
  
• Prior to summer 1895, the Menagerie was known only in (what is today) Asia and a few of the (today) Eastern European lands. It’s unlikely anyone on a regular tour would have come across them, but you never know. For the most part, the identities of the cursed five have been protected over the years either through polyjuice or other charms and hexes.
  
  
• And I’ll say it one last time without gloss— it’s not a place anyone of repute would ever frequent. Beings are tortured for show and treated like objects. Enter (or continue) at own risk.

  Never much of a father figure to any, The Collector is a selfish being. His real name and origins are unknown, but since coming to England he has adopted the anglicanized name of Jeong. The official story is that he was married in Joseon and his wife, since passed, left him five heirs. Deciding to settle anew in the East after her passing, Yeom has eased into his old age and runs something of a curiosity emporium on occasion*— for those in the know. His primary public goal is to have his sons married into proper, powerful English families and he is not above spending a pretty penny to see them situated. (Or blackmailing/torturing/bribing his way forward.) Unofficially, he desires nothing more than to become part of the Wizengamot so he can exert further power and influence. He has a pesky little fly he’s trying to kill in the meantime; one that could unravel all his plans.
  
  * This cabinet of curiosities is presently (post August 1895) only very rarely offered as a showcase for a peculiar sort of wealthy upperclass member to view at Dongmulwon (minus the cursed five). The items and beings within are almost always for sale: sentient, cursed, or otherwise. And probably illegal, lol. So no known Ministry, teehee sorry.

A former upper class pureblood in his own right, Abby is the muscle of the group and eldest. Abandoned by his own family when he was bitten at the age of 16, he slightly resents Jin for dragging him into this mess, but it’s a simmering, underlying resentment.

• He’s an egomaniac.
  
• He’s the only one of the 5 who might not be Korean in origin; open to discussion. But he has to have attended Mahoutokoro so, regional.
  
• He’s technically Jin’s best (only?) friend, though it’s more and more questionable as secrets build and resentments linger. I’d love to discuss this relationship as it was in the past!
  
• Abby works in the capacity of bouncer for the Menagerie and both locates/retrieves cursed objects that may be of interest to the collection. How he’s controlled and his “shame” are open to the player to decide! Also his werewolf attack!

Collected well into his teens, Tae was the son of a prostitute. He learned early that life is easier for those with a pretty face and that money can buy happiness. He joined The Collector’s menagerie of his own volition and - while not exactly thrilled to be auctioned off as an escort to the highest, often cruelest bidder - he doesn’t expect much more than what he knows in this life. His addiction to polyjuice keeps his true identity a secret, however each transaction distorts another piece of his inner self.

Yun, the youngest, was born the son of a hag but with seer abilities. His mother died when he was about ten and he was left to rot in a magical orphanage thereafter. His abilities developed quite late in life and were never very reliable so keeping them a secret was fairly easy until The Collector came along. Today, he is often called upon to provide insight and assist in testing (against his will) for new curses and objects that come across the collector’s path. He is the only one of the group who has ever openly expressed an interest in having a family one day, if they were to ever escape this hell, and he fears (deep down) passing his hag genetics to his offspring would make them monstrosities. He resents Jin the most for the failure to free them.

Technically Yun is the only "straight boy" (no requirement for full hetero tendencies here; just hetero-inclined) as requested in the ad. His dreams include one day wanting to marry a woman and have his own children. Candy obsessed.

Ki-Se was the last to join the Menagerie before their expulsion from Joseon. He was muggle born and never received a magical education other than what he gleaned of his own volition. Treated utterly like a prop, his primary role was to be the main attraction in the house of curiosities, forced to transform time and again for morbid audiences. The transformation has become more painful as time wears on.

Kel’s parents, they are descended from Ignatia Wildsmith (1227-1320) from whom the Wildsmiths made most their money and still do from the Wildsmith company. They are wealthy, well respected and enjoy their part of upper-class society. Socially there is nothing wrong with them… they just have a lot of issues when it comes to favouritism of their first son. Kel’s mother has been known to share criticism of younger child that is considered too harsh for some, and whilst they do provide him a stipend at the moment it is thought they are unlikely to split the inheritance his way. She is prone to picking him apart whenever they meet – often comparing him to his brother unfavourably. She may also be sabotaging his chances at marriage… or maybe he just might be really bad at it. Do we know why Kel's second best? well, not really beyond the fact his elder brother clearly is better on paper in all attributes. His father? Open to discussion really... They have a open nephew Kel's age in Kayte's plottables [Persephone Broadmores Plot] as "Sloth" or Henry who is Kel's favourite cousin and a layabout and who grew up in "Bridgerton" where they would often send him to stay throughout his childhood.

Kelly’s older brother. The ideal upper class first born? He’s the apple of his parents eye and to them he is absolutely perfect. He could do no wrong. He is the one that Kelly is constantly compared to and found wanting and he is partially responsible for Kel’s inferiority complex. He is completely open to interpretation – and could have hidden flaws or a secret. Who knows? It’s all up to you. First name flexible, martial status up to you. Kel represents the sin of Envy in Kayte's plot and Jr here is the main source of his Envy.

Born the third child and only son of James and Rosanna Paxton, Amos’ mother died in childbirth. His oldest sister, Imogene, leaves her path as a Healer to raise him. Father loves him, but is distant. His second sister blames him for the death of his mother. Now off to Hogwarts, where his sister is now a Matron, will Amos find his own path?
