CHARACTER NAME: Margareta Mathilde Lestrange. Exclusively goes by Meta.
BECAUSE… She was one of Emily's or Kayte's wanteds, back when Kayte was playing the impoverished Lestrange cousin. She seemed really fun and I wanted to try playing a small child. I believe she was 6 when I originally made her, or something like that.

CREATION DATE: Sometime in 2013 or 2014.
BIRTH YEAR: 1876
PLANNED DEMISE: Probably by the Lestranges for running away and disgracing the family.
HOGWARTS HOUSE: Gryffindor. When I first made her I expected her to become a Slytherin brat but as she grew up Gryffindor seemed more and more fitting. I actually requested for her to be sorted there, rather than have her go through the Sorting.
BOGGART: Someone scaring looking about to cast the Cruciatus Curse on her.
AMORTENTIA: Chocolate; a pine-y/forest-y sort of smell

I DREAM OF POSTING WITH… Lauren's Gretchen Lestrange, Tiberius Lestrange, Arthur Pettigrew because he's her disaster cousin and I can see her relating to him the more she grows up.

IN THE MODERN AGE… She'd be like Nicky Nichols from Orange Is The New Black. A girl from a rich family, who ends up turning to drugs and bad habits because of her terrible, albeit rich family. She'd be in some sort of anarchist group and probably get arrested as well.
DURING THE WAR… She'd join the anti-Death Eaters, but only to spite her family.

THOUGHTS ON MUGGLES: She's gone from thinking they're scum to simply feeling kinda sorry for them because they don't have magic. She's taken Muggle Studies and she's fascinated by all of the things they have come up with to compensate for not being wizards.
THOUGHTS ON BLOOD PURITY: She used to have really Hitler youth views on blood purity, but she's become soft purist to non purist since. She has come to realize that blood purity doesn't really matter.
THOUGHTS ON ARRANGED MARRIAGES: She fears the day when Priam might spontaneously decide to betroth her to someone. She doesn't really want to get married at all.
THOUGHTS ON CLASS DISTINCTION: She's too young to have any opinions about class. As she grows up, I can see her being into anarchism sort of because it'd be shocking and scandalous for her to hold such views.

PROGRESS SO FAR:

• She chopped off Gretchen's hair in her sleep so Orestes decided to give all of the girls short haircuts. (idk if we've still kept this in their history though).
  
• She threw a tantrum at her birthday party so Orestes used the Cruciatus Curse on her to punish her.
  
• After a series of Charming disasters, Meta lost her parents, grandmother and 2 or 3 of her siblings. She was taken in by her uncle Priam as a result.
  
• She went to Hogwarts where she was sorted into Gryffindor. Once there, she began a process of unlearning the bigoted views instilled in her by her family.

BECAUSE… I returned to Charming after nearly 2 years of being gone. I wanted to make a completely new character, someone who would be different from my old characters and morally ambiguous. I think Kayte linked me to MJ's ad for that particular friendship group so I decided to make him. I then proceeded to bring back a bunch of old characters lol

I actually often think about his pretentious porn films and what they'd be like tbh. He'd do porn with Freudian influences and artistic shots and they'd be shot in pretentious camera lenses. He'd call his films pretentious things like 'Erotic surrealism'. He'd hang out with show business people and regularly go to parties with hookers and coke.

I lowkey want to create such pretentious pornography ngl I think that's why I have put so much thought into Christobal's artistic endeavours >.>

— His mom married Maddy’s dad.
— He got into a fight with Sloane at the beginning of fourth year and spent the year on bad terms with her.

BECAUSE… A former player and I were planning on a Capulet v Montague family fued type plot.

IN THE MODERN AGE… She would be an avante garde florist and horticulturalist, and she is a BBC tv presenter for 'Gardeners World', as well as a show on garden makeovers on a budget.  She is a patron of the Bee society and the Soil Association.  She owns a large period home in the country (like Longmeadow) which is also where the show is shot.

DURING THE WAR… BEcause she would have been on telly, there might have been an attempted recruitment,  she would have awkwardly turned them down and probably ended up murdered.

CHARACTER NAME: Galatea Merrythought
BECAUSE… I wanted to create a character that embodied my teenaged angst. She was a canon character on super old Charming and she spoke to me. I actually wasn't aware that she's meant to become Tom Riddle's DADA teacher until after I made her. Her name on old!Charming was Merrythought Galatea for some reason so she was called that for years until I had it changed IC and then had it retconned now.

CREATION DATE: Originally sometime in 2011 or 2012. She's very much a revamped version though.
BIRTH YEAR: 1865
PLANNED DEMISE: She has to live until about the 1930s, so she can be Tom Riddle's DADA professor. I've always liked the idea of her living long enough to fight Voldemort but tbh that probably won't happen and she'll die of old age.

BECAUSE… I made her on the day I moved out of my parents house for college as an incoming firstie! I think that's why I got so attached to her: she was tied in with a very big moment in my life. I remember getting her app accepted while I was in the car on the way to college!

PLANNED DEMISE: I like the idea of her being killed by whatever poor man she eventually ends up marrying, but I also like the idea of something backfiring (not necessarily a spell).

There's muggleborns (see: Connie) that she favors over certain purebloods (see: Meta), and there's some halfbloods she tolerates. Probably.
THOUGHTS ON ARRANGED MARRIAGES: She thinks they can be done right, but the parents need to have their children's best interests in mind. She's not fond of her own match, and intends to find a way out of it.
THOUGHTS ON CLASS DISTINCTION: It's there for a reason. She's more comfortable around rich people.

PROGRESS SO FAR:

— She met Seneca Lestrange, a fourth year, who inspired her to learn advanced magic. They practiced dueling and had a bunch of threads. I enjoyed it.
— She got detention during her first ever DADA class for trying to duel with Meta Lestrange (who had set her on fire).
— She found that being rich and pureblooded didn't give you an automatic pass at Hogwarts. She was mean and people didn't like her, and she became withdrawn.
— She was betrothed to Germander Macnair. It made more sense when he was a second son on the old board, but now he's a fourth son so it makes little sense.
— She met the Slytherin matron, Connie Sykes, after getting in trouble. Connie liked her and pseudo adopted her despite their differing backgrounds.
— She started "collecting" students who were top performers in certain subjects to teach her the ropes.

IMMEDIATE GOALS: Start trying to become a legilimens or an occlumens or even an animagus. Get ready for prefect season of 1891, which should be a trip.
LONG-TERM GOALS: Get rid of Germander or get the betrothal broken in a way that doesn't damage her reputation.

THOUGHTS ON MUGGLES: They're weird but have a certain charm to them, although she doesn't like interacting with them because she never knows how to talk to them.

CHARACTER NAME: Constance Ethel Sykes.
BECAUSE… Way back in the wilds of the old board we introduced the idea of matrons and I was delighted. Finally, I said, a chance to be part of the Hogwarts staff while not having to run class activities: the perfect combination of mild authority and general laziness that I crave. I'm pretty sure I reserved the Slytherin matron before Kayte had even posted the placing on Occs and after sourcing a vague older sister character from Rosa's much more established Penny Sykes (secretary to the Minister, so well done Connie for having the much less impress job!) she was born in a haze of sarcasm, wine and my abiding love for Elizabeth Mitchell.

Side note: Connie has the distinction of being my oldest continuous character. All others have had sabbaticals but Connie has always consistently been there drinking wine and making eyes at the ladies. She is also my back-up main account but I used Elladora as I thought she had more authority xD

CREATION DATE: Autumn 2014.
BIRTH YEAR: 1847.
PLANNED DEMISE: I haven't thought about it but I can't imagine it will be dramatic. I can imagine she'll be eaten by cats.
HOGWARTS HOUSE: Slytherin natch. Although she does display a lot of Ravenclaw tendencies and probably picked Slytherin while under the hat because a hot girl was on the table.
BOGGART: A husband that looks suspicious like the Headmaster.
AMORTENTIA: Books. Wine. Sand. Seawater.
PATRONUS: She can only cast a non-corporeal patronus but if she could do it properly it would be a Norwegian forest cat.
RESIDENCE: Hogwarts most of the year. During the summer either guest houses or she mooches into someone's house.

ASOIF/GOT HOUSE: Probably none of them but for argument's sake Mormont. But only in the sense of being a distant cousin appointed to look after Lyanna and make sure she can read.

She gets on with the other matrons though both Aideen McClary and Carmelina Cramming are a little complicated for her xD

IN THE MODERN AGE… Okay, so I wrote this part about five different ways then deleted them as the lies they are because modern Connie is probably me tbh xD If you need further details I can show you the picture of me with my "Purrride" rainbow cat t-shirt on, surrounded by books, holding a drink and rolling my eyes fondly at my BFF who is a much more successful human but, bless him, still looks after me and pays for stuff.
DURING THE WAR… Can you honestly say that Connie isn't actually somehow Professor Sinistra, just hanging in the background being quiet and competent and only seen at night?

THOUGHTS ON MUGGLES: They're great. She finds Christmas with her family a chore but suspects the same would be true even if they had magic.
THOUGHTS ON BLOOD PURITY: The culture of pureblood elitism makes her blood boil and given half the chance she would have muggle studies be compulsory.
THOUGHTS ON ARRANGED MARRIAGES: Barbaric.
THOUGHTS ON CLASS DISTINCTION: She believes that educating the masses will solve many problems however doubts that even the most intelligent person would ever be accepted into the upper crust as anything other than a novelty. She likes the working classes perfectly well, though in her comfortable middle class way is probably a bit patronising.

CHARACTER NAME: Charlotte Jane Beauregard
BECAUSE… I was very intrigued by playing this character as an adult. I made Lottie when she was just going into her first year, then on and off in the years since, and I decided to give it a go again bc she seemed like a fairly easy character I could use to re-integrate myself into Charming life again.

CREATION DATE: I don't remember the exact date, but it was around the summer of 2012/1882. I revamped her on March 20th, 2020!
BIRTH YEAR: 1871
PLANNED DEMISE: Not particularly. With all of my women, there's always a chance to possibly die in childbirth/pregnancy-related complication (bc Realism), but I feel like she would live a fairly long life otherwise, passing away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and maybe even great-grandchildren, too.
HOGWARTS HOUSE: Ravenclaw! Lottie was actually one of the first characters I ever had sorted IC, and I honestly could not see her anywhere else. <3
BOGGART: Herself, unmarried and childless.
AMORTENTIA: Old books, cook's baking, and her mother's perfume.
PATRONUS: While Lottie has not learned to formally cast a patronus, she has likely attempted to teach it to herself at one point, though was only successful enough to cast wisps at best. Considering this, she does not know that her patronus is an otter.

IN THE MODERN AGE… Lottie would have loved to study English or maybe History in school, but she would have chosen something sensible instead, like something Business-related. I could see her using her degree knowledge to open a bookshop/cafe/florist combo and running her own business. I could also see her having a side hustle, too — maybe an Etsy shop where she sells literary printables, homemade bookmarks, book covers, etc.
DURING THE WAR… She would be quietly supporting the Order from the afar, but she definitely would not be on the frontlines.

THOUGHTS ON MUGGLES: She view muggles as people, that they're pretty much the same as wizards — just without the magical component. She's very curious about how they live their lives without magic, though. She can't fathom a world in which magic didn't exist.
THOUGHTS ON BLOOD PURITY: A ridiculous concept. She doesn't understand their reasoning when there's no concrete proof that blood purity correlates to higher magical ability. If anything, she believes that it's the privileges that they are given that provide them with the opportunity to strengthen their magical skills/knowledge, not from any kind of innate magical talent.
THOUGHTS ON ARRANGED MARRIAGES: Not something that she would wish for herself, but she can see the benefits of such an arrangement, provided that it's wanted by both parties and is not forced.
THOUGHTS ON CLASS DISTINCTION: A matter of luck, mostly. She feels very fortunate to have been born into a well-off family, and acknowledges that there are others who were not afforded the same opportunities as she was, but she also wouldn't willingly give up her comforts.

Doing the debutante thing; attending her second Season. Hurling. Charity work. Pursuing her own interests.

AMORTENTIA: Elladora Black, Thom Pettigrew, sea breeze. Fresh linen used to be in there but I reckon she got a lot of that during her illness and now associates it with unpleasantness. Since she was in the country house when she was sick, one of the first smells she would have smelled once she was well enough to walk about outside again would've been a sea breeze.
PATRONUS: Ursula might be able to summon up a patronus now but she's got no real reason to try. I maintain that it'd be a black bear as would her animagus form were she to have one of those.

It would only end happily if she felt confident he wasn't cheating on her and they encountered like no financial or social obstacles that might sour her affection for him.

Occupationally she'd end up doing something like high end fashion design.
DURING THE WAR… Ursula would spout the pureblood ideology and be in favor of Voldy but would have minimal actual involvement in it all. She likes a little excitement but ultimately she's a coward.

IN THE MODERN AGE… A prima ballerina with a substance abuse problem and a string of shallow relationships with men who can get her something she wants/are pro model level hawt/the boyfriend of an enemy. She'd also be all over extreme sabotage like 'oh you got the role/man/recognition I wanted? Funny how your ankle just broke like that.' When it came time for her to retire she'd probably freak the fuck out and make a hasty marriage to a much older sugar-daddy like man and then spiral into serious drugs out of boredom and the emptiness that is her life, and then potentially murder him one night in a drug enhanced fury and end up in prison for it.
DURING THE WAR… She'd be a Death Eater for shits and giggles, the whole cause wouldn't matter to her she'd just have a ball murdering, pillaging, and violently assaulting people without consequences.

- She smooth talks her way out of being murdered for reproductive uselessness.
- Inadvertently kills a maid.

- Becomes an animagus and lives as a lynx for several months

I DREAM OF POSTING WITH… Anyone on the Herbology scene, who would like to encourage Cassia's budding interest in Herbology and Floristry.

IN THE MODERN AGE… Cassia would be that quiet, artistic kid in high school, who sits at the back of the class, daydreaming or doodling in her notebook. She takes creative writing and art classes, and she loves anything vintage or pastel-colored. I could see her eventually, once she's gained a bit more confidence, making an Instagram account for her vintage finds and giving outfit tips/ideas.
DURING THE WAR… I feel like her parents would be quiet supporters of Voldemort, though more out of self-preservation than agreeing wholeheartedly with his beliefs. I feel that Cassia would be inclined to do the same, even though her heart breaks for all those who were affected.

THOUGHTS ON MUGGLES: She's accepting of them, though doesn't give them enough thought to have a strong opinion one way or another.
THOUGHTS ON BLOOD PURITY: She is perfectly friendly and respectful to everyone, regardless of blood status. She does, however, tend to stick to other purebloods and halfbloods out of habit.
THOUGHTS ON ARRANGED MARRIAGES: She would very much like to marry for love, though she wouldn't be too shocked should her parents decide to arrange a match for her. She just wouldn't be terribly pleased about it lol.
THOUGHTS ON CLASS DISTINCTION: As with blood status, she is friendly and respectful to those of all classes, though she does tend to gravitate more to those of her own social class.

-- Her older sister's bullying was brought to her attention by Ruby Urquart. It drove a wedge between the sisters as a result, and they had very little communication for the rest of the school year. By the end of May, Cassia realized that she was the last person to be helping Cora, and turned to Madam McClary, Cora's House Matron, for help.
