At this point, Donna didn't know if she made this worse. This made her feel awkward, making her feel that she put herself in that position. At the same time, Donna didn't really know how to respond. Now that she had stated her answer, of course, she felt terrible.
Could there have been a different response? Donna didn't really know, though deep down, she wished that she could've said something better. In fact, she could've chosen to not say anything at all. Why she chose to respond was way beyond her, but Donna didn't want to be rude by not saying anything.
She would nod, giggling. "Understandable, my apologies for taking it the wrong way," she responded with. It was the least that she could've done after feeling horrible about her response. Donna would take a closer look at her patient's foot, examining it as much as she could before coming up with a conclusion.
"Your foot looks rather okay. I've read that murtlap bites aren't really that serious, though there's a potion that can be used to heal this kind of wound."
