Dot always felt uneasy around healers — she couldn't shake the feeling that if she let enough of them get close to her one of them would sense that something was the matter with her — but the murtlap bite on her foot was not going to heal itself, so here she was. Venturing out into the English channel in January had likely not been the best idea. Even if they hadn't stumbled upon a bunch of murtlaps, the cold might have seen her lose a toe all the same. On the other hand, Dot was not always known for good ideas. She spent so much of her time being awfully smart, and every once in a while it paid to do something foolish. This simply hadn't been one of those times. It might have been a lark if they'd made it through the water all right, with only wet hems and sandy toes to show for it. As it was, her older sister was rather disappointed that Dot's idiocy had seen their seaside holiday cut so short.
"Pleasure to meet you, Madam Conray," Dot said, all smiles. She might be uneasy, but it wouldn't do to show it. "I'd be most obliged if you did."
