Why: It is the duty of the Minister of Magic & his wife to host a ball relatively early in the Season
When: April 23rd
The Minister's Ball is a yearly ado early in the Season, and this year—before a dozen fresh socialites decide to make it overdone as they do each year— it shall be a masquerade!

Upon entry, your character's mask will become affixed to their face until the midnight unmasking. They will pass through a high-ceilinged foyer (with a few chairs and an adjacent cloakroom) into a grand, circular ballroom, the theme of which rotates hourly:
FRENCH GARDEN PARTY
Feel the warm summer breeze and literally smell the roses from 8 o'clock until 9 o'clock

ARABIAN NIGHTS
It's basically the aesthetic from the live action Aladdin from 9 o'clock until 10 o'clock

THE ORIENT
~Exotic floral arrangements, Chinese acrobats, and other trappings adorn this period-appropriate racism from 10 o'clock until 11 o'clock

THE NIGHT SKY
Twinkling orb 'stars' form constellations on a dancefloor largely obscured by darkness from 11 o'clock until midnight.

VENETIAN CARNIVAL
A traditional aesthetic brought in just as we remove our masks at midnight! Will remain until all attendees depart.

Above the ballroom is a grand mezzanine for socialising that lines both the diameter and cuts across the ballroom in an X. It is entirely unaffected by the magical themes below, though the darkness of Night Sky Hour does obscure dancers from view from above. It can be accessed via a narrow staircase to either side of the ballroom entrance, or a larger staircase directly across the room.

Off of the main ballroom are two retiring rooms for each sex. Refreshments are served here as well as on the mezzanine.

Guests will receive small pearl brooches (ladies) and lapel pins (gentlemen) on arrival designed to keep them illuminated during the night phase. They might fall off prior, leaving your character and their actions obscured by the darkness...

Though magic has been employed to orchestrate the evening, it is considered in poor form to actually use magic whilst attending. Arrivals should also be in the muggle fashion (ie, carriages), though London's Destiny Hotel has made it known that attendees are more than welcome to floo or apparate into their lobby and hire their ride from there if coming from ~out of town.
