He took a moment to cool off, searching through his mind for any happier memories — ones he thought might bring a smile to his face immediately. The past year of his life had been full of gloom, but there had to be some good things. Making the quidditch team was a no, and he'd already tried his kisses and his head boy. All his other happy memories were tainted by sad reminders: memories with his father, memories with his mother, memories of a happy, whole family. Merlin, was he that down? Being sorted into Gryffindor seemed the happiest of the bunch, and most importantly, the one not tainted by sour memories.

"Expecto patronum!" he cast once more, his hopes high.

Focus was what he needed, but too much focus made the memory much less real. He needed to remember meeting his housemates, meeting his friends, becoming prefect, house quidditch — all of it. With one last deep breath, Handsome concentrated his efforts and cast the spell again.

It was apparent this was not going to work — at least with the memory he was using. Instead of trying a memory more recent, Handsome focused on something everlasting, something that's had define him and defined his life: being sorted into Gryffindor and beginning his education.

Handsome had stated to multiple people on multiple occasions that he'd choose to stay in school forever if he could, and it wasn't because he liked homework and classes; it was becuase Hogwarts was his home.

Taking a deep breath, he would once again cast: "Expecto patronum"
