It surprised him that his wife had given it much thought but had done nothing to it. While they had never particularly discussed having children, nor why they did not have any, Daniel rather thought it was only a matter of time till such nuisances as crying children were to appear.

Was the fact that she hadn’t acted on such plans because of the lack of children? Did she feel they needed to wait until it was an assurity? Or had she decided that perhaps it was time to make the room into something else altogether? If that were the case it was easy enough to decorate one way only to change it back into a nursery again.

“And are seascapes to be featured there as well?” Daniel asked, sensing the tension and his own confusion, and attempting to tease her. He obviously had not said the right thing if her silence was to be understood.
