QWC Match Two: Britain vs. Morocco
Never in his life had he known a match to be halted for just about anything. He had been playing a home game in the middle of a sandstorm that had caused players to crash bodily into one another. One of the chasers had been thrown from his broom and fell from the air unconscious and it hadn't caused the match to be halted. Either these English were delicate little flowers which given the way their knees were exploding left right and centre was possible, or someone in the stands was seriously injured or more likely dead. Players were expendable - fans, well they paid.

'Bad?' he asked in Arabic to his nearest teammate who had been closer to the incident than he had been.

“You alright?” Gus said, having dived hurriedly after Bixby and pulled up close by. That bloody Moroccan who’d hit the bludger at him amidst the already-unravelling chaos! What was he playing at?

Maybe neither he nor Rufus had had time to see the trajectory from MacFusty’s bludger. Gus had, from some distance, but she had also heard the shrill cries and shouts erupting from the stands and had caught some mutterings as she’d descended.

Her face wore an expression far from her usual grins. “The bludger hit someone in the stands,” she explained in a low tone, “I think it’s bad.” Her heart leapt at the fear that she might’ve known someone in those boxes; she resisted the urge to get back in the air and search from box to box for the faces of her brother and her friends.

Her stomach flipped uneasily as she landed near her teammates. In all her years of playing she'd never seen a buldger into the stands. Where the areas in Britain not warded against such? As bad as it was of her to say when she was unsure of the injuries, she was grateful it hadn't been one of their beaters to send it into the crowd.

"MacFusty's buldger went into the crowds bad," she spoke to their Keeper, feeling complied to whisper. Her Arabic was far better than her English. Defaulting to it right now was easy. If only they were making announcements in such.

Their uniforms would have charms to cushion the impact of a buldger, someone in the audience would have no such foresight.

She froze for a moment as Sabri's words caught her attention. "Wait, did you just say someone died?" Frick. That was bad. What would happen now? To the person, everyone else, and the match?

His feet moved almost of their own volition, as though by clumping together with his team mates they might get greater clarity on what had happened and what would be happening. Despite his suspicions that someone was seriously injured, hearing it confirmed caused his stomach to drop as though in freefall. he swore and then cast an apologetic look at Meryem. He did try to not swear in front of women at least when he was in control of his faculties.

'What happens now?' he asked, there was clearly nothing the quidditch rabble could do for the poor woman in the crowd, would the British continue the match or call it a day? There had been no sign of the snitch, so technically the match was incomplete.

This match was an absolute clusterfuck. Beckett had been even more useless in this match, thanks to his shattered leg and now there was a bludger in the stands.

Great.

Following the announcement, he headed down to the ground and immediately crumpled into a heap on the ground, trying not think about his throbbing knee and the simple fact that he couldn't walk.

Fine.” Rufus tried to brush the concern away through clenched teeth, ignoring the fact that every attempt he had made to unbend his leg and stand up on it was absolutely agony. Instead he decided he’d just sit down on the pitch until the whole mess was figured out, who knew if it would be a short time out or what. He flopped on the ground, his good leg spread before him and the useless crumpled leg bent at an angle as if he were still flying, just barely touching the ground was agony.

Bloody hell.” He cussed, he probably shouldn’t in front of Robins, but she had been around the team enough she was just another teammate to him. He followed her gaze and noted with some relief that the box in question didn’t seem to be the Bixby box. Suddenly he was grateful his father had asked him to zoom by the box to delight Sloane’s friends at the beginning of the game, he now knew exactly where they were.

Any idea how bad?

"Hello, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your patience! I'd like this to be a niiice clean game, all of you, even you Mr. Aaloui! We also have a few substitutes this half: Mr Jack Cardew for Arthur Pettigrew and Mundungus MacFusty for Lachlan MacFusty.

I meant what I said, nice clean game!

AND THEY'RE OFF!"

Abbas snagged the quaffle and headed towards the British score zone.

The removal of the British beater was a relief. Perhaps this time Karim would manage to hit a target. He shot towards the bludger and hit it towards Cardew.

D2 -> C2, hitting bludger at Jack Cardew

Nabil was a bit unsure how the game was going to progress with new players, but he flew off after al-Benali, lingering in the general area in case he needed an assist.

(C3 ->D4)

Jack took off after the quaffle and the moroccan chaser who carried it

Zakarya pulled a face as the commentator called him out - his whole job was to hit people with bludgers, did the man know anything about quidditch? To be fair protecting his teammates by hitting bludgers away from them was equally important if not more so but still.

Damn Bixby and Longbottom with their healed kneecaps!

Hassani was on it today and had already made for the bludger so Zak decided to keep pace with it instead, ready to back up his teammate's shot or try for Bixby's other kneecap.

— The Moroccan Kneecapper —

This was the strangest return to a match Gus had ever faced; everything felt a little unreal. Not least that the roster had altered mid-way through. Still, she flashed a grin at Cardew and Bixby and tore off with them to defend their hoops and make herself a nuisance over Wahbi's way, who hopefully didn't have any more stinkbombs on him.
C3 -> D4

Rufus tailed the young chase al-Benali focusing on his goal rather than everything surrounding this match. He came along side the Morroccan chaser and attempted an interception.

Zak suddenly spotted the other bludger and it was so close. He'd been trying to work as a team on this one but the second bludger was just over there, looking so inviting and available. Perhaps the British beaters were too spooked by what had happened with MacFusty... More fool them. He just couldn't resist.

Grinning to himself he sped towards the bludger, readying his dominant arm for a powerful swing. He had spent the last six days doubling down on his upper body strength training, hopefully it would make a difference. He positioned himself behind the bludger and smacked it at Bixby who looked like he was about to make trouble for al-Benali.

It was kneecapping time.
