Dear "Seeking Witty Gentleman"
#1

5th June, 1888

Dear "Seeking Witty Gentleman",

Flowers I would bring,
If flowers could make thee fairer.

Forgive the slight effusiveness of the quote but it is what immediately came to mind when I came across your advertisement. I don't know if it counts as being witty but poetry to my mind is never unwelcome and I am hopeful that you might feel the same? I am no poet though, and the world is surely grateful for that, but I am a herbologist rarely to be found out of my greenhouse. My eyes are never quite so filled with light then when I am surrounded by greenery, as anybody who knows me well will tell you.

Are you similarly green-fingered?

Hoping to hear from you soon,
M.S.

Quote:Dear M.S
Thank you so much for your kind letter, I apologise for my delayed response, I found myself travelling to Peru to get my hands on some wild Digros seeds! They are from a truely beautiful specimen. It is my hope that I will be able to breed a smaller version to allow people to keep it in greenhouses or orangerys*. I suppose this might well answer your question as whether the charms of the greenhouse hold me in thrawl. I could forgo the company of most of humanity for a well tilled garden and a greenhouse to tend.

Has the summer been kind do your garden? Is it your passion or your employ?
With Interest
Ms. B.M
