Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

A dementor. Who in their bloody right mind had even seen one at this age yet?! Basil himself was startled as the thing came swooshing out of the trees, a boggart no doubt, and not a ridiculous one by any means. The students were quick to action and he was proud to see some of the gentlemen step up to take charge. Well bred and well mannered. Professor [Etiquette] would be proud.
Gus managed the thing in an efficient swoop (a knight in shining armour himself) before any of the students could come to harm. It would seem a few had a thing or two to learn about identifying a boggart upon first glance and dealing with it themselves. When Mr. Whymper finally handed Gus a small box, Basil crossed his arms over his chest and smiled. "Well done, Mr. Whymper," he condoned. "Now let's see which one of you can find a flag and start earning some house points." They only had so much time out here before the real dangers deeper in the forest began to stir from the commotion. Better to get moving.
Small prod that this will close with (currently no house points awarded) towards end of December. Quick, someone find a flag first and make an announcement.
Gus nodded, letting Basil praise Mr. Whymper as turned his attention toward the box, trapping the boggart inside of it. Then he cast a spell to make it small enough to slip into his pocket so it wouldn't break free and terrorize them again; it would do for now, although he was going to have to deal with it after the class was dismissed.
"You're getting really close to one of the flags," Gus finally said as he turned the group, lips curling into a soft smile. It wasn't too much of a hint, but hopefully enough to spur them forward. "So go forth and find it. The sooner it's in our hands, the sooner you can all return to the castle."
It had only been a boggart and Paxton breathed a sigh of relief as it was dealt with. So he turned his attention back to the weeping Miss Lukeson. "Aww, don't cry. It's all right now, Mister Whymper helped save the day," he said, offering her a handkerchief. "Do you feel all right to continue?" These particular professors had both always been rather kind so he doubted they would force a young lady to continue if she could not. He rather thought Miss Lukeson had more gumption to her though so he was pretty sure she would end up gathering her wits about her once again.
Benedict was enjoying this excursion, following the incident with the creature that may have been a bogart after all, the rest of the lesson seemed to go more smoothly. Benedict was a decent wizard and tended to know when to cast and when to run, although perhaps sometimes he was a little too bold. Today he would use this, another Gryffindor appeared to have triggered one of the hidden beasties. Well Ben was having none of that and in he ran, casting a bombardo at the beasts feet to grab his attention before running into the woods to allow the other to continue forward and steal the initiative.
Luckily the other boy paid it forwards and as a branch was hurled towards him he was pleased to see it suddenly transfigured into a shower of leaves that scattered around him leaving the creature looking quite bemused and open to a charm thrown by Benedict in its direction.
After all those shenanigans, actually catching the slippery flag seemed like a breeze, a freezing spell to slow it's progress to allow it to be grasped before benedict tied it to his arm to run back to Basil Foxwood and Gus Lissington title claim his glory.
Gus was highly amused watching their students try to capture their flags. It was interesting to see how the processed what needed to be done and what angle they decided to go with. He was terrible at transfiguration himself, so Gus definitely would have leaned heavily on the defense spells in order to get the assignment done.
Mr. Hunter was the first to reappear. Gus held his hand out to take the flag from him, offering the young Gryffindor a bright smile. "Excellent work, Mr. Hunter." Of course the appropriate house points would be awarded. He turned toward Basil then, tipping his head as he silently wondered how many more would follow and how many more would fail.
