Charming Confessions 2.0
#97
I have comfort threads/ships that I reread when I need a serotonin boost, sort of like people who watch their favorite shows when they're down. This is why I keep extensive post logs, in chronological order, because I need to.

I do most of my brainstorming while driving. Out loud. Bad habit? Do I go 10 minutes and not really know how I got where I was going? Sure do.

I write replies and thread starters in my head if I'm having a hard time falling asleep at night and the worst part is I come up with good shit and forget it the next morning XD

Hubs asks if I want "background noise" while I post, which means "how distracting can the movie be?"

Some random confessions

#1 - I used to feel very embarrassed to tell people IRL about Charming as a hobby, so I tried to hide it as much as possible. I don't really feel that anymore, especially since one of my coworkers in my team told me that she also used to roleplay, and on a HP forum no less. That being said, I would still feel awkward showing RL people my actual posts, even though my work bestie has said she'd want to read what I've written.

#2 - Following to the above, I mentioned my time as a Charming Moderator as 'work experience' during the interview for a community forum type of support upskilling at my current job. Not as a "Charming was a real job I had" typa lie, but as a "I did this thing when I was a teen which I think kinda gave me experience for this project you're hiring for" TBH, I feel like Charming really prepared me for my current job, because apart from being the reason I'm so fluent in English, some of my old Mod tasks are similar to some of my current work tasks. Or at least in ~vibe, IDK xD

#3 - In my head, I ship Meta with Poppy Sweeting from Hogwarts Legacy, and if I could skip the tutorial beginning, I'd make a playthrough with Meta to get them to interact.

#4 - I feel a bit self conscious that so many of my characters are Lestranges cause I don't want to feel like I have the same character in slightly different flavours, but some of my Lestranges are also characters that feel very comfortable because I've written them so long.

#5 - A part of me would kinda want to start completely fresh with new characters, but it would also feel weird not to play characters like Seneca, or Cee. That being said, I no longer have this thing I had in the past where I wouldn't ever allow certain characters to go inactive, like Seneca for example, cause I'm no longer as attached to them.

#6 - There are some Charming periods and plots that in my heart are a 'Golden Age of Charming' of sorts and I feel nostalgic about them and truly love them. I think one of my biggest loves in this category would be Noah Hatchitt and Magnus Lockhart. NGL I blipped on what Lynn's Lock character was actually called, but this bromance was one of my favourites ever.

From characters that aren't mine, I'd say Cash and Eli because I can remember at least two instances of me telling out of Charming people about this relationship/plot.

Certain friends know about Charming as my "Victorian Harry Potter Writing Thing" and that I have some kickass people in my life because of it <3

But none of them are allowed to see it. Ever >.>

If you ever get married, marry someone who likes to hear about Charming. Jack was only the second partner I ever had the guts to tell about this and the first one I only explained it superficially as "a writing hobby thing I do". Jack lets me talk to him about specific threads and plots xD

Can confirm! John is the only person I've told about the game! He knows who my characters are, checks in about them, and knows some of the major players in their lives. He bemoans his issues with intergalactic transport on Eve and I enthuse about plots, threads and even just ships I'm into! He watched The mummy with us the other night! lol

I'm scared to do too much active hurling of my characters, because I have this insecurity of sorts that I'll look shallow and that romance is all I care about xP
---
That being said, I'm kind of scared of my characters getting married, because then I feel they enter a "and then they lived happily ever after" limbo and there's not much for them to do anymore.

---
I like to explore feelings/scenarios I'm dealing with IRL with my characters. For example, Ruby is currently harbouring an unrequited crush for Savino Zabini. I'm kinda channeling an unrequited crush I'm having IRL into this. For one, it helps get inspiration and idk ~authentic feelings, but then it also helps me process whatever it is I'm dealing with IRL.
---

I used to think that playing a 7th year/early twenties character was WOW, so mature, and now I'm looking at my 3 early twenties girlies and my 17-year-old Meta and I think, wow they're all so young

I talk to my irl best friend about Charming all the time--what my characters are doing. What thread I'm currently stalking. Also, I have been known to say something "is like asking to me to pick my favorite child. And we all know that's Harry, so--"

01. I am legit so terrified of properly hurling my men because I worry so much I won't be able to do them justice. What I mean is, writing romance or sex from a man's point of view isn't something I've ever really done before.

02. I had never seen Sense & Sensibility until we watched it together! I'm not really a movie person, I get distracted so easily.

Beautiful Set by MJ ♡ !
Even though Cee was sorted through the IC Sorting, I don't really think Ravenclaw is the best fit for her the way she turned out to be in recent years. If I was making her now, I would have made her a Hufflepuff. It actually kinda bothers me that she has a lot of IC history of being a Ravenclaw, otherwise I would have just made her a Hufflepuff because Ravenclaw really doesn't fit her and it irks me xD

I try to see her being a Ravenclaw in the sense that while she's not into books and traditional academic pursuits, she's very creative and original when it comes to Quidditch and sports strategy. I hope to show this more IC though cause for now that's only a headcanon I have so I don't feel too bothered over her not being very Ravenclaw-y :P

I, at the ripe old age of two and thirty, still have to sing the alphabet song in my head when adding people to the PB list.

This is more Sad than anything, but I never changed all my characters' passwords when we moved to the new board so most of them who were made before the move still have their funny passwords. Unfortunately I've forgotten them over the years so I can never rearrange my account switcher out of fear that I'll lose their passwords and have to bug staff to reset them...

... because I also forgot the password to the email I used to make their accounts.

I absolutely HATE looking at older graphics or codes or templates I've created. When other people use them I cringe so hard @ myself. Idk if people still think they're good! I still can't stand looking at them! I am the same way with old threads, too. I love re-reading OTHER people's posts from 2+ years ago but I won't re-read the ones from last night unless I need to fact check myelf.

Charming characters I wrote years ago still live in my head rent-free. The urge sometimes to bring them back purely to commentate on things happening currently. they have so many opinions

Mind you, both the characters this happens with were wanteds for people who aren't on the board anymore, so it'd be more work. <.< But the urge is still there.

While running around Hogwarts in Hogwarts Legacy I regularly see spots around the castle and start thinking "Oh, Sisse would hang out here!"

I will definitely admit that Hogwarts Legacy has definitely changed the way I think/perceive of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.

Sometimes I quietly ship my characters with other peoples but usually never tell them. I just internally squee when they have any interactions and am privately heartbroken when the other gets into an established romance ship with another. xD

I do this too and now I wonder if we're like ships (ha!) passing in the night XD
