I'm reading the 5th Bridgerton book and it's got me itching to develop a relationship under exceptionally contrived circumstances. Here's the example from the book, which I'll put in spoiler tags even though it's literally in the first chapter and on the inside cover blurb xD

Sir Phillip & Eloise communicate via letter for a while and then he proposes marriage in an offhand way, basically 'hey want to come visit to see if you would enjoy marrying me?' She never responds to the letter but then does show up unannounced at his doorstep, forcing them to spend the next two weeks in close quarters (and unchaperoned!) at his country estate even though their initial impression is that they don't much like each other and certainly don't want to marry each other.

The circumstances would depend pretty heavily on which characters are involved so that's all up for discussion! While obviously the Bridgerton version is a romance, I don't necessarily need these two characters to fall in love — they might fall in hate or become friends or whatever. I just want to get two characters stuck together with a ridiculous premise and see what happens.

I'm desperately short in single men, my only person who might work is Elizabeth Cardew, her family are upper middle, but their finances are strained by having SO many kids. Lizzy is all pragmatism and could read a plain speaking letter on it's face value.

@Dante I'm not trying to recreate that exact premise, just the vague romcom feeling of how the relationship starts. Like a meet-cute except it's a miniplot instead of a thread and it doesn't necessarily end in romance.

For example...

KIDNAPPING? Character A accidentally kidnaps character B & through some magical or Muggle means they're stuck together for hours/days before they can return to their lives. Gets some (trauma?)bonding initially plus they have to devise a cover story on their return to society.

I was like lol, tycho accidentally kidnaps ford and they're stuck in Foreign Country A for a while because their wands broke but they get along so well I don't think there would be much trauma in the end xD
