Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Did You Know?
Did you know? Jewelry of jet was the haute jewelry of the Victorian era. — Fallin
Greetings from Purgatory! I have been put on lock down until my birthday at the end of the month, that is the bad news. I also caught a hell of a cold thanks to our lake shenanigans. Bad news number two. I am extra grounded because I need a new wand. The bad news really outweighs the good here. Even Alvin got a tongue-lashing for his lack of good chaperoning skills. Whoops.
Good news is Ma let me keep the kitten. She is settling in nicely and I will be allowed to bring her to school with me when we go back. Since this was a group effort, I will take name suggestions, though I am quite fond of calling her Squid, because it's ironic.
Requests will be gathered and voted upon at a later date!
Hope she doesn't continue giving you hell all month. If it makes you feel any better, I can barely breath. Knowing him, Moony's probably the only one who didn't get sick.
I have a few name suggestions, though I am fond of Squid.
- Paddle (She was stuck on a boat without a paddle.)
- Droplet (A given.)
- Inky (Like Squid, but not Squid.)
- Catfish (I'm going to call her that anyways. Sorry, Sloane.)
Let me know what everyone else picks.
Fondly,
Cam

I am just grateful you made it out of the water alive. I do hope your Mother lets up enough to at least allow you to go to the next quidditch match.
The last time I went for a swim in the lake, I also caught a nasty cold. Mercifully, this time, I have escaped such a fate. Even though it tastes like bogies, the Pepperup Potion Mrs. Little makes down the street from me is the most potent brew I've ever tried. If you can persuade your family to retrieve some, it truly helps banish a head cold in half the time. I've questioned her about her secret, but she is very tight lipped. Just be sure to have some pumpkin juice on hand to dispel the horrible aftertaste.
Squid sounds like a suitable name for the kitten. I don't believe I'll be all that helpful with suggestions, but some options are: Gilly (a play on gills or gillyweed), Dory (like the boat), Kelpie, or Neireid. She could always be named Bait, but that's sort of a cruel name knowing her circumstances.
I do hope the rest of your summer is pleasant, despite being grounded. If you need book suggestions to help pass your time, I'd be happy to supply them.
I am so sorry to hear about your punishment and the cold. I do hope you feel better soon. Can I send you anything that may help? Mother always says that tea and rest are the best remedies.
My mother was not happy either and has not allowed me out of her sight. I suspect this is her plan for the remainder of the summer. I can’t wait to go back to Hogwarts. We shall have to write to keep each other company in the meantime.
I think squid would be a good idea, but Ink might match her nicely as well. Perhaps even Nimue after the lady of the lake?
Please write to me soon, I fear I may die of boredom if you don’t.
Your friend,
Sisse

My mother wasn't quite pleased with me either. Amaryllis in particular gave me quite an earful on the way home as well. I am under strict instruction that I am not to deviate from the eyes of my chaperone on the rare occasions I am allowed out. Do you think your mother would allow you visitors? If so, maybe I could come over a few times and keep you company? I can bring Ethel to play with. Of course, only when you are feeling better.
In regards to the kitten, while I like the name Squid, I offer the name Splash as well, for just much ironic effect.
I'm feeling better thanks! At least I was not the only one suffering, sorry friends! Purgatory ends the day before my birthday for the World Cup match versus Morocco, that apparently Papa and Mr. Bell have gone in on together and you're all invited! Papa would like to know whose coming soon, so we can make sure there is enough room!
As for Kitten, names that have been suggested;
Squid
Paddle
Ink(y)
Catfish
Gilly
Kelpie
Neireid
Bait
Dory
Splash
Nimue
Let me know your top three and I will let you know the winner! Or I may just veto and name her what I want, depends on my mood that day.
Missing you, Sloane

I'm so happy you are feeling better, Sloane! How wonderful of you all to extend invitations I would love to go and momma says it is fine as well!
I think I can look at that list and tell you exactly which of those Cameron offered. But I quite like Splash, Squid and Gilly! You'll have to let us know what you choose.
