1st September, 1889 — Hogwarts Great Hall
The chatter of the first night always left Connie with a headache. After a summer of peace to be plunged back into the world of teenagers was a shock on her senses; it was normal, expected even, but whatever had caused the piercing shriek that caught her attention as she was leaving the Great Hall was definitely not normal. A crowd of students gathered around the spot did little to alleviate her suspicion.
“What’s going on here?” She asked patiently. It was only September. She had patience to spare for now, though it would run dry rapidly if silence reigned.
For the Drabbler Stamp. Each post must contain exactly one hundred words and each thread must have at least ten posts, three of which must be yours.

The beginning of her third year had come uneventfully, with everyone going just as planned. She and Camille boarded the train without difficulty, found all their belongings without difficulty, and found their seats in the hall without difficulty. Once she noticed how normally the night was proceeding, it decided to become promptly abnormal.
"Madam Sykes, they threw food. At my hair." she said, pointing an accusatory finger towards a group of students that sat farther down the table. "Something must be done before I... I..." She made an angry face and pulled a clump of pudding out of her hair.

Irene sat close enough to the third years she could see most of what happened on their part of the table, but she remained closer to those of the fifth; connections, after all, mattered most with older students. However, she wasn’t at all pleased when a group of noisy boys decided throwing things was a good idea. Were they not proper? She asked herself, rolling eyes and taking a deep breath not to lose composure.
That is, until their dear matron asked what happened and she saw a fitting opportunity. "These boys simply do not know how to behave, madam."

Connie tried not to grimace too openly at the gloop of food in Holly’s golden hair and when Miss Fudge spoke up she was glad, improbably, ridiculously glad that after three years she finally had an indication that Holly had not actively provoked somebody. She almost smiled, but doubted the complex web of relief she felt could be explained.
“Well Mr ___, what do you have to say for yourself?”
She addressed the boy, but quickly turned her attention back to the girls.
“Miss-” But before she could continue another projectile, this one aimed at Miss Fudge, hit Connie instead.

Holly Scrimgeour — Played by Bree
She couldn't believe it was only the first day of school and Slytherin was already slated to lose house points. Now she would have to make up for it with extra homework, and extra good deeds, the latter which was not suited to Holly's nature. Holly's accusatory gaze followed Madam Sykes to the pudding-throwing imbecile, where she sat for a moment, waiting for an explanation.
But it never came.
Instead, she watched in horror as a glop of pudding slid down Madam Sykes' pretty black robes. Oh no they didn't! Holly held up her wand threateningly.
"You'll pay for this!"

The Slytherin fourth-year couldn’t have been happier with Madam Skyes’ interruption. Not only had she done nothing wrong - which wasn’t surprising, after all -, Irene had been looking for ways to stand out, as opposed to other classmates whose names went barely unheard of. The more positive attention, the better. Some more of it and perhaps she could be considered as prefect later on.
Irene had her reasons, but such thoughts were erased from her mind when one of the boys... threw food at Madam Skyes! “This isn’t the right way to carry yourself, boys! Madam Skyes, do you need anything?”

And just as pudding dripped down her sleeve Connie’s spirits dropped – she appreciated the defence but she was truly failing if Holly’s instinct was still to pull out a wand. In the short steps it took Connie to reach the girls the boys were already appropriately shamefaced a staff member led them away, leaving her with a different problem to tackle.
“Miss Scrimgeour, that is quite enough,” Connie said, wrapping her fingers around Holly’s wand and lowering it. “Miss Fudge, I would be very grateful if you would escort Miss Scrimgeour to the dormitory and help her clean her hair.”

A mixture of anger and confusion and hurt crossed her face as she looked up at Madam Sykes. She knew she wasn't supposed to be doing magic at all, but didn't anyone care for justice? She supposed not, as she glanced around at the bewildered eyes that looked towards the commotion.
"I don't need help being escorted," she protested. She leaned a little closer to Madam Sykes, her brows furrowed together in frustration. "And certainly not by her. Send a prefect. Take me yourself." There was nothing to be gained by walking with Irene Fudge, anyways. Nothing good, at least.

Irene was obedient, not to be translated as perfect. She was willing to break rules for proper reasons - especially to make sure a person would never cross her path. After Miss. Scrimgeour did her little show, Irene had to fight back a smirk, unable to dismiss thoughts of how naive the girl had been. She turned around to their head of house, nodding.
"You must be busy making sure other Slytherins can achieve the house’s standards." Then she eyed the younger student. We’re leaving." This was a no-brainer. She was older and Miss. Sykes had clearly given them an order.

The hurt in Holly’s eyes was unmistakable but Connie carried on as normal – it wouldn’t do to play favourites and Miss Fudge was a highly suitable escort. In fact she had behaved with admirable decorum and had Connie not still been dripping with desert she might even given the girl some house points.
She didn’t. The thought of Holly’s face at that was too much to bear. Blindly Connie flicked her wand at the stain on her sleeve but still didn’t feel cleansed and determined to change her robes.
“Right behind you girls,” she had drinks to host after all!
