Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Kentigern MacFusty vs. Enoch Rosier
#1
2nd February, 1889 — Howlers Stadium
Ewart was very much excited to be witnessing the final duel in the competitive bracket. (And judging it, that too.) They might both be well-respected Ministry men, but who would be the cream of the crop? Who would be the pick of the litter? Who would be the bezoar in the goat?

"Well, Mr. MacFusty," Ewart said, bouncing a little on the balls of his feet, "let's see what you're made of. Begin!"

Tiger was immensely pleased to have made it this far in the tournament. He had enjoyed the journey immensely. "Avis," he cast when it came to his turn, conjuring a flock of birds to attack the other man.

Even Enoch wasn't so foolish as to think the other man would have reached this point in the competition without being competent enough, so his guard was up from the off. Also the other man was several inches taller than him and worked with dragons and he wasn't fucking stupid enough to offer him anything other than respect.

After making his bow Enoch cast a stunning spell, hoping to keep the man off-guard

Ewart liked any old conjuration as it came, but the birds did not fare so well, sadly, in their attack - indeed, it was not much of one, since they all fell to the ground in a series of muffled thumps, all suffering instantaneously from getting caught in the stunner's crossfire. Poor birdies.

Ewart vanished them sadly, and then declared: "Mr. Rosier wins the first round, and may make the next move, in fact."

Excellent. Half way there if everything went well...

In the interest of finishing things quickly Enoch sent an immobulus charm.

Tiger decided to go with a shield charm.

Ewart supposed even Aurors must be useful for something. The young fellow seemed especially quick on his feet, and made light work of his opponent once again.

Ewart un-froze the man to make the news known. "Mr. Rosier is the winner!" Two thirds of the prize pot to Rosier, then, although MacFusty here would get a share himself as the runner-up. Good on them.
