Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Did You Know?
Did you know? Jewelry of jet was the haute jewelry of the Victorian era. — Fallin
It wasn't as if vampires hadn't hovered around the funeral home before. Most were curious, some looking for a job. She wasn't surprised that a lady who appeared to likely be a vampire was hovering near the entrance for a while. But something felt off by this one. After years of meeting vampires, it was fairly easy to tell the decent ones from the chaotic ones. She really did not like the chaotic ones.
Walking over to the door, she opened it slightly. Not a true invite to come in. "Yes? Can I help you?" She asked as politely as she could.

The peach looked tempting to eat. Zel knew it wouldn't taste the same as when she was human. She wouldn't like the sweet taste of the peach's juice - she rather preferred a different juice nowadays. Still, she'd swiped it from a grocer's stall. Feeling gracious earlier that day, she'd also left a few pence to compensate for the good. London was easy enough to get to; now frankly, she was just bored, which had seen her plop herself ungracefully on a random corner. It was easy enough to ignore people passing by. Seeing as she'd donned a large cloak over her intimates, she just looked rather lumpy sitting there on the ground. Were she a being that needed sleep, Zel figured that the cloak would have been good as a blanket and cushion to sleep on. Perhaps that's why the man she took it from whined so when she'd walked away.
"Lucky I left him with his life," she muttered under her breath to no one in particular. In a quick flash, she sunk her teeth into the peach. It tasted horrible.
Azazel spat it out just as the doors behind her opened. She glanced up. The only surprise that showed on her face at being confronted with another vampire was a blink. She stood up to face the other being and then looked her up and down. At a glance, Zel knew this vampire and her would be different as night and day. She shrugged at the woman's question. "No," she said lazily, tossing the peach aside and slapping her hands together to get rid of the dirt on her hands. "Can I help you?" she responded, cocking her head to the side, looking the woman up and down again.
As a business woman, she would never approve of theft. Really, any decent person would disapprove. Not that the red head knew about what the woman had done. She also would not approve of the statement that had been muttered. It was lucky that she didn't know about such things. What other vampires did sometimes did feel like her business, as it did seem to affect her in the short and long run. As well as her business. Raising an eyebrow, she wasn't approving of the tone being used toward her. "Yes. I need you to get away from my business." She stated bluntly. There was an off feeling with this one, and Blossom was sure that the customers would feel this as well.

Already, the other vampire raised a unique mixed feeling of boredom and revulsion in the pit of Zel's stomach. What haughtiness that certainly didn't belong on someone like her. Already, Azazel could see the woman had a bit of a problem. She must be one of those vampires that tried to blend in with society and attempt to be human. Zel blinked at the order, and stepped back to view what kind of business the woman owned. Funeral services. Another blink saw a string of Portuguese leave the vampire's mouth. She looked back at the other woman and then down at the sidewalk she was standing on.
She shrugged. "Okay," she said non-chalantly, taking a step to the side and stepping under the window of the store next door.
Blossom never really thought of what she did as attempting to be human. She simply saw it as trying to keep her business going. Though this was her goal as a human, her own business had even changed when she had become a vampire. Blood from the dead for her vampiric employees and herself being the key difference. How many humans included vampires in their businesses at all? If asked, she would likely accept a veela as an employee if they behaved. Could work front desk. Not something a human would do.
What a surprise when the other vampire agreed. The red head raised an eyebrow as well. Perhaps judgement had been given too quickly. But it was best to be cautious these days.

On second thought, Azazel thought with an inward smirk, the vampire was definitely one to try and blend in with society. Zel had once tried to do that and had found it outstandingly boring. How this one was able to do it without expiring on the spot was an interesting fact that the vampire stored in the back of her mind.
She crossed her arms and leaned against the stone wall. "Your business?" she echoed, a hint of interest in her voice. "And pray, what do you do for a living?" she said, peering up at the store sign. Funeral services? The vampire's face remained placid and curious however the desire to scoff was rather overwhelming.
If one was asked to describe Blossom when she was having a bad day, the most common conclusion might be made that she is what one might call a 'grumpy old lady'. Not that she would see herself as such a thing. Maybe a bit stern, or at a loss of her own patience. But wasn't that how everyone was?
With the other vampire seeming to have decided to go back on her words, the business owner's mood was beginning to sour. "I own this business, it has been in my family before I was born." She was fairly tempted to add in a 'now shoo', but she bit her tongue. Perhaps small talk will soon make this one leave.

Before she was born? Zel didn't doubt that, the place looked positively ancient, though she preferred a less clean environment herself. She sighed, growing bored of the old bat already. "Fine, then." she said, shrugging and jerking her chin towards the discarded peach pit. "I don't suppose you'll mind cleaning up your business a tad." She gave a smirk before casting another look about and making to leave.
It took great self control for Blossom to not attack the other vampire. They were a predatory species, and the instincts were in overdrive when one predictor invaded the space of another without concent. Instead, she snapped at the sweep to clean it up. The poor boy looked at his boss in momentary shock before rushing to do as told.
