Work was the only place that Greer was good at holding her tongue. It was increasingly difficult when people were being difficult! How was she supposed to get anything done when things were harder than necessary? She had spent the morning finishing up a piece that just needed some final touches and was going to be picked up. Of course that was not ever how it worked and she'd gotten caught up in an "emergency" fix so hadn't been able to finish the original order as intended.

She had just finished up the bottom hem when the girl at the front of the shop announced that the customer was here to pick it up. It would need adjustments, surely, but she could be quick about it. "Stand right up there." Greer indicated with a smile to the podium where she did final alterations.

It had only been about five minutes and she had nearly stabbed the patron at least as many times. "If you could please hold still," she asked, patience wearing thin. "I don't want to get you with a pin." For the love of Merlin, please.

Left vague to be a dress or a suit, whatever works! Can also be multiple people if desired!

Being a spinster didn't mean Thistle had to be completely unfashionable. It was something she believed but also something she'd told herself a few times in the time between deciding she wanted a new dress and that very moment. She typically got new things as needed and had on occasion made her own garments (mostly to prove to herself that she could) but what good was making her own money while still living with her parents if she couldn't spend some on a whim?

She stood on the podium with her gaze focused somewhere in the middle distance as she seamstress worked about her in a proximity that was expected but would be otherwise uncommonly close. She tried not to hold her breath since that couldn't be good for accurate fitting and found herself mentally revising all the considerations that had gone into the fabric she'd selected. Ideally suited for winter and spring -

The admonishment to hold still came as unexpectedly as it was abrupt. A small wrinkle of confusion passed over her brow. She might have thought the words were for someone else... if there were anyone else near by. After a moment she gave it a mental shrug - she had enough experience in shop work to appreciate the plight of someone simply trying to do their job.

The fabric - ideally suited for winter and spring... Her finger tips fluttered subconsciously at her sides as she willed her mind back to what she was thinking before. Now keenly aware of tension and proximity. And the cool slide of a metal pin against her skin. Not a prick, but uncomfortably close.

"I assure you, I am not moving." She said, terse and confident and intent on preempting a suggestion that she was at fault for that one.

Greer had to look at the floor to scowl. Were they on a ship and she did not realize it? Has there been a shake of the Earth she had not felt? She was knelt on the floor with pins sticking out of both her mouth and the pun cushion on her wrist, surely she was not the one who was swaying. It was moments like this that Greer had to really watch herself.

"I would hate to get blood on it after I've just finished it." Greer said of the dress. It was a pretty color and she had done some light embroidery on the sleeves and bodice. Red would clash terribly if she were to stick the brunette with a pin. That was probably the only thing keeping her from accidentally doing so. All that hard work just to have to wash a stain out as well, it wasn't worth the aggravation to her. If she could just get this hem evened out, they would both be spared any more of this nonsense.
