Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1894. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

IT'S THE PITS
On August 18th, shortly before noon, a sinkhole opened up in Padmore Park.
Why did this happen?
Though there is no concrete reason as of yet, the answer is likely to be clear to anyone who puts much thought into it. After all, the location coincides with the bone menagerie's magical creatures cavern, and also where one Miss Regina Pendergast caused a small earthquake just last month...
Who is affected?
The sinkhole had a diameter of 100 yards—the length of an American football field, minus the endzones. It was not adjascent to the pond, so there is no water involved. If your character was anywhere within the hole's region when it opened up, boy did they go down with it, though those just on the edges might currently be holding on for dear life.
Injuries and even deaths are highly possible. BOYD will be posted in a few days.
Most notable, characters may find swiftly that magic does not work within the pit.
Who is responding?
Realistically, anyone outside the pit can try to be of use, with mixed results. First officially on the scene are the Hogsmeade Constabulary, followed quickly by the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes.
Timeline
Sun. August 18th: The pit opens; recue attempts begin. It is quickly discovered that any efforts to use magic to get people out of the pit will be in vain. Canteens of water, biscuits, and bandages are sent into the depths via owl by mid-afternoon while rescuers develop a new plan.
Mon. August 19th: It is decided to send in rescuers using more muggle means—ropes and harnesses. Volunteers are taken from the constabulary and auror office, as well as some mediwizards for immediate medical needs. Some begin to come back with victims of the collapse. It is a slow progress. First article posted.
Tue. August 20th: Rescues continue. By end of day, all living persons have been retrieved from the pit.
Wed. August 21st: Padmore Park is completely closed to the public. Department of Magical Accidents & Catastrophes are now on site to begin figuring out how to fix the giant hole in the ground. A pair of mediwizards remains to see to any deceased recovered. Second article posted.
Q! If magic can't be used in the pit, would injuries obtained in the pit also need to heal the Muggle way? Or as soon as someone pulls them out of the area then a healer can patch them up in 3 mins per usual?

It is only inside of the pit that magic does not function!
