Sanditon Signups: The Regatta
#1
The Sanditon Regatta

The Sanditon Resort is hosting a regatta from June 30 to July 6. The main event of this is, at least in theory, boat things. Is that for you/your characte? BOY IS THIS THE SIGNUP THREAD FOR YOU.

Please note that you can...

 • Sign up and thread your participation
 • Sign up and not thread your participation
 • Sign up with (an)other played character(s)
 • Sign up with (an) NPC character(s) on your team
 • Not sign up but still mention competing—if you do this, you can't win, and I would strongly prefer nothing disastrous happen unless you let me know for article purposes.

Sanditon cup has entry fees that would be affordable to UC only. All other competitions have entry fees reasonably affordable to MC/UC.

The Sanditon Cup
Essentially rich people riding small, magical, self-sailing yachts around the British mainland. They will set sail on the 30th, and are expected to get back on the 5th or 6th #BecauseMagic. The prize is 10G and a solid gold ship in a bottle by way of tropy. The weather in the bottle reflects the weather outside wherever the bottle is, which is nice. Boats provided.

Entrants should be...

 • Upper class or the token MC friend of an otherwise UC group.
 • 17+
 • Generally male, though an all-female team might make it on. Mixed teams are strongly discouraged unless of immediate family, for propriety reasons.

TL;DR: Rich people boats sail themselves; gone Jun 30 to Jul 6.

Entrant(s): (please tag if registered accounts)
Vessel Name:
Minor Interventions: Yes/No. These are incidents from which a character would reasonably recover in a couple days. To have these actively posted in a thread, please link your thread below when it is live. Otherwise, they'll be referenced in an article.
Major Interventions: Yes/No. These are incidents that may do lasting damage to your character. To have these actively posted in a thread, please link your thread below when it is live. Otherwise, they'll be referenced in an article.
Anything Else?: Optional.

The Maelstrom Medal
Small, non-magical yachts sail a set course in the waters near the resort. Experienced sailors required, though individuals might hire a crew and steal their glory. This takes place on the 1st of July, with participants setting off after breakfast and returning before dinner. The prize is 5G, and a medal. Participants must provide their own boats.

Entrants should be...

 • Any class, though need to have access to the appropriate craft.
 • 17+
 • Generally male, though an all-female team might make it on. Mixed teams are strongly discouraged unless of immediate family, for propriety reasons.
 • In teams of four to six people.

Sailing Experience: (per sailor)
Sailing Ability: Terribad, Poor, Average, Above Average, Excellent (per sailor)
Anything Else?: Optional.

TL;DR: The one with people who know how to sail. July 1st.

The Ladies' Boating Trophy
Pairs of ladies compete in a similar course to the Maelstrom Medal, but with small dinghies. Participants should have some sailing experience, though all boats will be spelled to prevent tipping over. It takes place on the 2nd. The prize is 5G and a small trophy. Boats provided.

Entrants should be...

 • MC/UC
 • 15-30ish and generally unmarried—this is a silly diversion, rather than a serious event.
 • Ecxclusively female-presenting.
 • In a pair.

TL;DR: Ladies are delicate so these ones can't tip over. July 2nd.

Entrants should be...

 • MC/UC or super nerdy about sailing.
 • Ideally will have some experience, as this is a nonmagical competition.
 • Aged 7-17.
 • In a pair.

TL;DR: Kiddos, this one is for you! July 3rd.

THE MAELSTROM MEDAL

Entrant(s): Felix Prewett Reginald Alderton
Vessel Name: TBD
Minor Interventions: Yes
Major Interventions: No [Unless you need us too]
Sailing Experience: Minimal for Felix, None for Reginald.
Sailing Ability: Average for Felix, Poor for Reginald.
Anything Else?: They will be in a group of NPC UC friends with some experience of sailing who have dragged them along. Thankfully for Felix and Reg these gentlemen are average sailors with one being above average (and whom will manage to keep them all alive while the rest drink and enjoy themselves)

THE MAELSTROM MEDAL

Entrant(s): J. Alfred Darrow & Zelda Darrow & their Sanditon Terrace neighbors they bullied into coming along to fill out the team (their boat can be comfortably sailed by two people though)
Vessel Name: The Wanderer
Minor Interventions: Yes.
Major Interventions: Yes?
Sailing Experience: Alfred has more experience than any of you. Zelda went on a months-long sailing trip as her honeymoon. The neighbors are probably "we sail on the weekends sometimes" types.
Sailing Ability: Alfred & Zelda - Excellent.
Anything Else?: I told Beanie I either want them to win or I want them to crash and fight about it, so. (If you would like to potentially have a front seat to a Zelfred spat and are friends with them feel free to usurp the NPC couple as their partners xD)

THE MAELSTROM MEDAL

Entrant(s): Don Juan Dempsey & Cleon Broadmoor & Dean Hudson + some NPC friends (DM if this could be you)
Vessel Name: The Selkie
Minor Interventions: Yes
Major Interventions: No
Sailing Experience: Casual leisure sailing mostly, and also this:
Don Juan had become frenetically obsessed with sailing for about two months during the summer of 1890, and though most of his skills had atrophied by this point from both disuse and disinterest he had still managed to find himself press-ganged onto the crew of a friend for the regatta.
Sailing Ability: All average!
Anything Else?:

Sailing Experience: Anton, François and Mariella and Phillip - decades. Violetta - since childhood
Sailing Ability: Anton and François - excellent. Marielle, Phillip and Violetta - above average
Anything Else?: Family grew up on the Mediterranean, they are very capable sailors

THE MAELSTROM MEDAL

Entrant(s): Porphyria Dempsey, Shalott Dempsey, Lycoris Dempsey, Sabine Valenduris (with room for Christabel Daphnel & 1 more UC friend if anyone else wants to put their lives in the hands of the sisters Dempsey)
Vessel Name: The Queen Mab
Minor Interventions: Yes
Major Interventions: No
Sailing Experience: Sabine: an adequate amount of hobby sailing while she lived in Italy, & the sisters Dempsey: Papa Dempsey taught all his children at some point or another in their youth (to varying degrees of success lol), so they all have some!
Sailing Ability: Sabine: Above Average; Porphyria: Above Average (but is reckless, has no regard for her life or the lives of others); Lycoris: Average (passenger princess, thinks she's better than that but is delulu); Shalott: Terribad (head in the clouds, horribly distractible)
Anything Else?: in fallin's words, "they're all going to die"

a sublime set by Lady! <3

#9
