May 27, 1894 — Lorelei & Greer's Residence
Daffodil Grimstone Greer Owens

Whatever she'd said to Greer when they left Australia, Lorelei had been perfectly aware that things wouldn't be easy when they came to Britain. That was the nature of major life changes, most of the time. But even with its bumps, Lorelei was glad they'd made the journey. Admittedly, it was much easier to be optimistic now that they'd survived their first Scottish winter. But also some of her own goals were finally coming to fruition at last.

Lorelei was already sitting at the breakfast table, sipping her coffee--she hadn't quite gotten a taste for tea--when her sister entered. "Good morning," she greeted. [b]"Do you have time this morning to chat? I had something I wanted to talk about."

Greer was not and had never been, much of a morning person. Tea did little to wake her up and she could very well live the debutante life if staying up late and sleeping until noon, if granted the indulgence. Work of course, put a damper in such delights and so she was up, enjoying a cup of coffee when Lorelei came in. "Morning," she half-grunted, knowing Lorie wouldn't take offense to the tone. Two cups of coffee needed to be inhaled before she was human.

"Sure, what is on your mind?" She could try and focus at the very least, if Lorelei had something important to tell her.

"Only good things this time," Lorelei started. Because it was true, and because she'd always thought it especially cruel to deliver bad news before the morning coffee had kicked in. "But I think my potions business is getting to the point that I should be able to do it full-time soon." She thought she could probably do it now, really, but Lorelei thought it wisest to not rush into these kinds of things.

Greer liked good news. It felt like a while since she'd had anything worthwhile. "Oh, that's great." She meant it genuinely, even if sleep still coated her voice. "How are you going to go about it?" Their finances were pretty secure for the moment, but Greer was a bit of a pincher when it came to spending and not that Lorie's business wasn't worth it, but of course she was concerned.

"I've been steadily growing my customer base," Lorelei said. "And I am having more advertising printed. It's not ready yet," she clarified. "But I think by the end of summer." She obviously wasn't going to quit her job at the apothecary if she wasn't sure, of course, though at a certain point she hoped to be too busy to do both!

Greer studied her sister over her coffee mug carefully. Lorelei was far more personable than she was, and a growing client base was really the crutch of it. If she had a steady flow of product and need for it, that was all that mattered. "Sounds like things are really working out then." Greer's own occupation was going fine, working at Gladrags was easy enough, always consistent work and as long as she kept her mouth shut and minded her manners, everything would continue in that manner. "Will you open a shop front?" There wasn't a ton of room in their little rented flat for a potions workshop, but they could probably make something work. As long as there were no mishaps.

"I think I might still need to save a bit for a store front," Lorelei said. Technically, she thought that she could make something work if she really needed to, but she'd feel more secure about it if she had more money saved. In case something happened. "If you don't mind me working out of here for a while?"

"As long as you don't blow up the kitchen." Greer snorted, passing her sister and apologetic smile afterward. "Whatever you need to do though. I'm glad it's working out for your." Not that she had ever doubted Lorie; her sister was better at just about everything in every way and Greer had always known and accepted it. "Is there anything I can do to help?" Greer had some money saved up too and she didn't mind helping out if she needed it.

"I don't think so," Lorelei said. Then she smiled, "Except be patient with me." There would be a transition period, Lorelei was sure, as she got situated. But all things considered, she didn't think it was nearly as big an ask as... well, many other things she'd asked for from her sister, frankly. At least this was something that felt more like normalcy. At last.

Patience was not something Greer had an abundance of, but of all the people in the world she did have patience for, it was her sister. Something about that sibling trauma bond that always gave Lorie more whatever she needed from Greer. "I'm happy for you." Her own position had been fairly easy to secure, with some samples, but Lorie had to sort of rebuild, so this move was tougher on her, even if Greer was the one who complained more. None of it was particularly easy, but it seemed at least that they were coming out alright on the other end.
