Daesyn Mackenzie vs. Theodore Gallivan
#1
April 27th, 1894 — Hogsmeade Memorial Assembly Rooms
Dueling Competition
Cash had a rather fraught relationship with the concept of curse breakers, with the exception of Angie. That was nothing compared to his fraught relationship with Theo — he wished anyone else had been assigned to moderate this one. Since that was not the case, he ran through the rules, and then announced, "Miss Mackenzie to start."

Daesyn entered the duelling area wearing leather trousers, a white blouse and dark red fabric corset. She looked over at Mr Lestrange and then at Theodore Gallivan. The curse breaker held her wand in her left with her right hand, usually her sword hand, toward her opponent. "To a good fight, Mr Gallivan" she added with a slight bend of her knees in courtesy.

Her first then? "MIMBLEWIMBLE" she called out as her first spell, clutching her wand tightly.

Christ, and he had thought this might be fun. Instead, as Theo approached his first duel, he was sorely tempted to turn on his heel and leave immediately.

He did his best not to look right at Cash throughout the rules, and tried not to stare at his opponent’s odd fashion choices, either. “And to you,” he returned absently, about a good fight – although he hadn’t yet decided if he wanted to prove himself not-useless in this arena or just wanted to have this over with as fast as possible.

Hearing the start of her spell – a distinctive one – Theo fell back on something straightforward, a knockback jinx; something he could just as well cast non-verbally if necessary.

Cash's grip on his wand, which he kept pocketed, remained tense until Theo's knock back jinx punched through Miss Mackenzie's spell and sent her staggering. Cash waited a beat for the curse breaker to regain her footing. "Point to Gallivan, who will start the next round," he announced.

Gallivan felt too familiar, but he could not bring himself to say Mr. Gallivan — even as he was brutally aware that Theo had not looked at him yet.

Theo let out a breath and relaxed ever so slightly at that result. Cash’s presence, even out of the corner of his eye, wasn’t helping him concentrate; but at least it was his turn to cast first, and he hadn’t made a fool of himself yet. “Stupefy,” he tried next.

The knock back landed squarely and Daesyn went backwards, adjusting her footwork to prevent an embarrassing tumble on the floor, but the point was clearly and fairly that of his opponent. She smirked at the handsome chap across from her and went back to the task in hand.

"Levicorpus!" she would attempt to lift the man up and dangle him to see what fell out of his pockets, it wouldnt be the first time the treasure seeker had used that move.

The stunning spell hit Miss Mackenzie; her own spell missed Theo. Cash let out a tiny breath he had been all-too aware he was holding. "This round goes to Gallivan," Cash announced. No Mr., again. "Miss Mackenzie, thank you for your participation."
