Crumb & Associates

Okay, the and associates might be a bit... aspirational, but still, it's a totally valid business enterprise!

Maelstrom Crumb wants to solve the mysteries of the universe. Failing that, he wants to solve the mysteries that have been plaguing your family for decades. Failing that, any old mystery will do. And failing that, well, he's open to less mysterious (and slightly less legal) opportunities to keep the metaphorical lights on.

The Knockturn Alley storefront is unremarkable, the windows papered over with old pages of The Daily Prophet and a simple brass sign above the door. Entering the premises is though entering another world altogether, without the dinge and danger of the neighborhood. immediately on entry, you'll be greeted by Miss Crumb at her desk, though why she has her own desk when it's just one room and you can see the detective right there is altogether another matter. The room is warm and well lit, with a large fireplace and a curtain over a door leading to... well, you're a client, you don't need to know*.

* It's actually the stairs to their flat and a work space for Tempest.

Mael never went to school, so I'm coming at networking him a bit different. Past connections will be Knockturn regulars and previous clients, but what I'm really looking to is the future: COME TO ME FOR YOUR DETECTIVE NEEDS

  

I would love for Wrath Wakefield to cross paths with Mael, she'll love to work with him as she wants to be a detective/investigator though whether she'll be any good at it remains to be seen. She's still in school but this is her final year so plenty of time to plot things.

I could see @"Sophia Voss" contracting someone on the cheap/recommended to 'keep an eye on things' at the ballet theater, there's been a few incidents. She knows exactly what caused the first incident and won't tell him (vampire) but not the second one (probably a lethifold or something hiding in the curtains), and generally is trusting people less and less. It's loose but if you want excuses to put Mael somewhere/make things up as we go

More exciting is Thomas Harvey who with Barnabas Beck has an established private invesitgator biz in Hogsmeade (probably more like Main St though). Usually jobs are more like 'is my wife cheating on me' sort of business but I would adore a brewing rivalry between these guys. Maybe sabotaging each other's cases, think they have this amazing lead but it's just Tommy or Mael being an asshat etc

Clara enjoys putting curses on people (of the minor-inconvenience variety, mostly) and would semi-regularly contract for him to acquire necessary materials (lock of hair, something sentimental, etc). If threadding one of those interactions is of interest to you I'm game <3
