Professor Foxwood,

Your name came up in discussions amongst the ministry departments this week as a possible resource for this current predicament we find ourselves in with the kidnapped residents of Hogsmeade that have been turned into creatures. While the criminal investigation has obviously been left to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, I find my squad teaming up with the Spell Damage healers at Hogsmeade Hospital and tasked with helping to mop up the magical mess.

Transfiguration was my specialty at school myself, but we are having a hard time reverting some of the victims to their previous human state and indeed, simply identifying if the creatures were once human at all. I have been doing some independent research on the topic, but was wondering if you had any insight or resources in which I could look to help further our cause.

I appreciate any time you can devote to a few questions, simply via letter if you prefer, at your earliest convenience.

Mr. Hatchitt,

I am at the Ministry's full disposal.

I am attaching a handful of passages from a few texts I located upon receipt of your inquiry that might provide assistance. Particularly, there was a nice checklist provided in "1001 Magical and Non-Magical Cross-Species Transfigurations" that might help your identification process.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. I am happy to serve you however possible.

Professor Foxwood,

Your suggestions are most welcome, I spent an entire evening pouring over the text you suggested, it was indeed most helpful. I passed along a copy to my superiors as well. Would you be amenable to coming down the ministry if the need were to arise? To help with solving some of the cursed people? It seems to be more advanced than we were prepared for.

Any more direction you could provide would be most useful.

Professor Foxwood,

Once again, we appreciate your assistance in the matter. I will confer with my colleagues in the the coordinating departments to see when it would be best for you to advise us in person on the matter. We are struggling to figure out how best to ascertain which animals are people and which are animals. You attached list was incredibly helpful Transfiguring them back seems to be going alright, but it is decidedly dicey.
