What: Fae Ball
Who: Ophelia hosting, UC and MC society types (the sorts of families where girls are debutantes, not employed) are invited as long as they have no immediate scandals.
Cost: N/A
Where: The Devine estate in Ireland (get at Kit Roberto Devine if you have questions about the house/grounds)
Why: Ostensibly Ophelia is a Socialite doing Social Season things but she does have ulterior motives which are essentially to wreck havoc and watch the world burn
When: June 12th, 1891

Guests are welcome to arrive in the afternoon for a late luncheon and an outdoor poetry reading of a lengthy new poem composed in alternating Irish and English stanzas retelling a myth from gaelic fairy legends*. Following the performance guests can mingle until sundown when the ball begins. (If you don't like poetry it's also acceptable to arrive just for the evening ball) The aesthetic for the decor is inspired by stories of the fae and guests are encouraged to dress to fit the theme as well (think ethereal meets forest/nature). The gardens will be lit with floating orbs of light for the duration of the ball and guests can wander freely between indoor and outdoor areas. These aren't really the types of gardens with lots of hiding places but if you're desperate enough you can probably find somewhere to be out of sight :P

Unbeknownst to the guests the entire event is affected by a magic inspired by cautionary tales from Irish folklore. In myths, fairies would freely offer food and hospitality to any weary traveler, but anyone who accepted would owe them a favor in the future. During this party, any guest who accepts a "favor" from another (even if it is as simple an innocuous as letting a gentleman retrieve a fallen fan on your behalf) will feel magically compelled to oblige whatever that person's next request is. This isn't terribly strong magic so it won't see any of your characters unwillingly committing murder based on an offhand comment, but it might mean doing things you otherwise wouldn't consider — for example, making a gift of one of your possessions to someone you barely know after they made a comment along the lines of "oh, I wish I had a [thing] like that!" for no reason other than several weeks prior they held your champagne glass for you for a second.

*if your character speaks Irish Gaelic they might catch a hint about the magic for the event in the stanzas but it's masked in poetic language so they might assume it's a metaphor

What: International Bazaar
Who: Loosely organized by Seabound Sorcery Trading Company but featuring many different vendors. Open to anyone who wanders through.
Cost: Not to wander through but obviously to buy things, yes. Goods range from perishable food/drink that are affordable to anyone to luxury items only the ultra-rich would consider
Where: Diagon Alley
Why: selling stuff~
When: June 14th - 18th

For one week the already crowded street of Diagon Alley will become even more crowded as vendors set up pop-up stands. Goods have been imported from every corner of the world and include street food being sold from small tables all the way up to furniture, being sold inside tents with expansion charms to make them the size of showrooms. If you come on Monday or Tuesday you can also purchase exotic animals before the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures shuts them down on Wednesday morning for failing to obtain the proper import documents. Even if you don't intend to buy anything you may still enjoy wandering by to view demonstrations of strange artifacts and inventions as salesmen and women try to convince you to buy.

There is very little quality control here, so while some booths are legitimate business ventures selling nice things for excellent prices, you may also find yourself paying top galleon for something that turns out to be a fraud or fades away into illusion after a few days. There may also be some ~not totally legal things for sale in certain booths, but you'd have to know the right way to go about finding them and asking for their 'off-menu' items.

ACAB | SPIRIT | GHOST BALL

What: Spirit Ball
Who: Spirit Div is handling logistics but it's really by and for ghosts. Any ghost in good standing with the Ministry (ie, they have not violated a restraining order/movement restriction in the past decade) will receive an invitation; they may then invite guests as they please (spiritual or living). Spirit Div employees are on hand for the night to resolve any issues that arise. Rather than having one host, this ball was put on by a small committee of spirits.

Where: Hogsmeade Memorial Ballroom
Why: Ghosts, being noncorporeal, can't dance with living people :P
When: Tuesday June 22nd

As one might expect from a party trying to cater to people from wildly different eras, this is... eclectic. The decor is standard ballroom, while the music cycles between Renaissance motets to modern ballroom music and everything in between. Group and pair dances are interspersed with performances of songs, poems, or other art forms by those so inclined. At midnight a group of ghostly hunters will invite guests to a hunt through the streets of Hogsmeade which was definitely not cleared by the Spirit Division; this involves spirits inclined to participate riding on horseback through the streets following packs of ghost dogs in pursuit of a dozen ghostly foxes. Followed, eventually, by some frazzled Ministry employees who just want to go home and sleep already because it's Tuesday and they have to be at work tomorrow morning.

What: Delaney-Darrow Wedding
Who:

Joseph and Christianne Delaney are proud to invite you to the wedding of their daughter Caroline Rosheen to Evander Bertram Darrow

Invitations were sent to all Darrow and Delaney relatives. As well the Fisks, the Adlards, and any Ministry men Evander is friendly with and DMLE employees who he may have thought he had to invite (skype MJ if you think this is you), as well as anyone in America in Caroline's social circle (UC) and friends Caroline has made in the UK (if you think this is you skype Fallin).

The ceremony will be family only, the following reception will be open to all the above. This will be a traditional breakfast/brunch with plenty of room for guests to sit at their own tables. Based on this

Where: the ceremony will take place at St. Fergus in Irvingly with family as witness. They will then floo from Evander's to the Delaney townhouse in London for the reception. The townhouse will be delightfully decorated with flowers and charms to have petals fall around the guests. The decorations are lavish and tasteful.
Why: For some reason these two are in love so they figured they'd get married.

Who: Family and close friends of the bride and groom are to attend the ceremony. The ball afterwards is more generally open to other respectable members of the upper circles of society - though it stands to question how many shall attend a bastard's wedding.

The reception/ball that takes place after the ceremony is graced with vibrant, pink roses. Placed in an outdoor setting, it features climate spells that make it the idea summer temperature for everyone in attendance. It's like, way more intricate and fantastical than Kelly can think of, so imagine that she just made it Amazing for the ego boost.

Who: Hosted by Eugenia and Bertram Blackwood snr. - For well-heeled members of society UCAB, a selection of the 'cream' of single female English society will be adorned/styled as flowers, single men. Basically a hurling event, you're unlikely to be invited if married, unless you have notable single relatives.

Why: Hurls for everyone
When: 23rd of June

Notable, exceptional, or just well connected single women, including new debs will be invited as 'flowers' and encouraged to wear and style themselves as a particular flower. The ballroom will be festooned with ornate floral arrangements- think of the world's most florally ornate Pinterest wedding.

What: Life of Zeus - Episode III
Who: Same crowd as Episode I/II unless either you or one of your guests misbehaved at a previous event.
Cost: None
Where: Rich Guy Estate in the English countryside somewhere
Why: For the love of orgies erotic theater.
When: 25 June

This month's theatrical component features the story of Semele. The first act covers her (repeated) seduction by Zeus, Hera befriending her in disguise, and concludes in very dramatic fashion when Zeus reveals his glory to Semele and she bursts into flame, leaving behind the infant Dionysis. After an intermission, Dionysis becomes the hero as he rescues his mother from the Underworld and elevates her to the status of a goddess. The second act transitions fairly seamlessly into the reception as Dionysis and his mother break the forth wall and encourage guests to come party it up on stage. This reception is more heavy on the drinking/party potions/miscellaneous drugs component than the sex component but there are still plenty of places to sneak off if you're interested in coupling up. There will almost certainly be at least one room with group sex happening at some point in the evening, when everyone's inhibitions are down due to drugs.

Anyone who seems to be Not Chill about this will be asked to leave as soon as they're discovered, after either an obliviation or a mind-erasing drug cocktail, depending on which bouncer catches you.

Who:

Welcome to the first ball of the Sanditon Summer!

A marble ballroom has been erected upon the very beach sand itself—if you can call a space with only a floor a room. Levitating chandeliers illuminate the space, and the musicians appear to be playing in a large fish tank of sorts. Refreshments will, of course, be served, and guests can look forward to both a midnight fireworks display and a dawn dip in the ocean (facilitated by bathing machines, of course!) for those still kicking

White tents have been set up along the beach to accommodate the following:

• A junior ball for those aged six to sixteen
  
• Retiring 'rooms' for each sex
  
• A cards tent
  
• An exhibit on ocean creatures, both muggle and magical #JustHerbertThings
  
• An exhibit on the history of the Sanditon, it's construction, etc.

* A small but comfortable inn catering to the upper WC and lower MC. Located on Sanditon's high street. In addition to a number of tidy room, it boasts a cozy dining room that, for special occasions, is cleared out for dancing.

UCHB | REP 7+ | DINNER PARTY

What: Zabini Dinner Party
Who: Dom & Matilda hosting for Dom's "friends and acquaintances" (read: people he thinks might want to marry his sister). About 18 attendees in total, including Dom, Matilda & Bellona. Guests are mostly respectable UCHB men, 26+, who are unattached and their younger sisters where applicable. Two sets of married couples were also invited so that we're not being super obvious about the purpose here.

This is not an all-inclusive list (if you feel you should be invited, lmk!) but invitees include:

Why: Ostensibly just because it's the sort of thing you do during the season. Really, so he can introduce Bellona to a bunch of UCHB men and see what she thinks.

Proper fancy dinner party with six seated courses each paired with a wine (soup, fish, cold salad, venison and vegetables, cheese, dessert) sandwiched between h'ors d'eouver and mignardise which are served in the parlor alongside cocktails. There will be no parlor games because Domitian values his dignity too highly to sacrifice it for silly stunts.
