Mother,

I just heard the news about the Santa Antonina, and wanted to let you know that I am indeed safe. I disembarked in Algiers, and will be remaining for another week or two; timing has not always been my strong suit, but in this, I feel somewhat victorious.  I hope this letter reaches you before you have opportunity to fret too much.

Affectionately,
Fitzroy

Art,

Am not dead, though did flirt briefly with Death. Was not nearly so good a dance partner as some of the ladies I've been acquainted with. Have news for later; in Algiers for now.

Freddie,

Please tell mother I am not dead in case you get this before her or she is too overwrought at my potential demise to read her letters. Also, for your own reference, I did not go down with the ship. Feel free to have a drink for me regardless.

Freddie,

It is my hope that this letter reaches you before I do, for I imagine I will be voicing this far more than I care to already: I have married in Algiers.

My nuptials were not altogether willing in the strictest sense of the word though I could surely do worse than Camilla, formerly the eldest Miss Zabini. At the very least, they have saved me from her brother so that Mother can kill me instead.

I shall write to her myself, do not worry; I do not trust our dearest Mama not to kill the messenger.

Anyways, I daresay I we shall have you for dinner you and I shall have drinks at the club sooner than later; I can give you the details then. I expect we will return by May, weather permitting.

Felix,

Have you heard the joke about the rake who was caught in a compromising position with a young woman and then forced to disembark from a cruise ship in Africa for a hasty wedding in Algiers? I'm hoping not, for I should like at least some semblance of anonymity on my return to London later in the week.

I will, of course, invite you to meet the new Mrs. Prewett.

If Mother lets me live that long.

Faustus,

Just a short missive to inform you that I have returned safely from Algiers. I am in Portsmouth at present, and will be returning to London in the morning; the long voyage has rather shaken any interest I have in magical travel at present, and I did not return so light on baggage as I was when I departed.

It will no doubt surprise you immensely to learn that I come back plus one bride, having married Miss Camilla Zabini—now Mrs. Prewett—whilst abroad and completed a honeymoon of sorts in Algiers. I imagine you will have a great deal of questions, and ask only that you rein in your curiosity and our mother until the new Mrs. Prewett has an opportunity to get settled.

Yours,
Fitz

Fitz,

Glad you're not dead, as I've been staying in your house. Talk soon.

Hand-delivered by messenger on the afternoon of May 1st, accompanied by a large bouquet of flowers.

30th April, 1891
Mother,

You will be pleased, and I suspect rather relieved, to learn that I am safely back upon British soil and will likely be home in a matter of days. My trip abroad was rather more adventurous than I had expected—though of course, not as much as that of some, for which I was grateful—and to that end, I have news I can no longer rightly keep to myself.

Miss Camilla Zabini and myself exchanged vows and rings and all that that entails whilst in Algiers; the reason for my not being aboard the Santa Antonina at the time of its accident was that, indeed, I was on my honeymoon. As such, we return to England as Mr. and Mrs. Fitzroy Prewett, news that you will relish, for I know you were eager for me to wed.

We will, of course, have you for dinner as soon as we are settled. While I took care to write to my brothers on the matter, I would be grateful if you would pass the news along to my sisters and the extended family, for you have a way with such social announcements that I cannot hope to beat.

Affectionately,
Fitzroy

Art,

Trouble with the missus? I've one of my own now; do tell me how to avoid being removed from my home and thrown upon the hospitality of my more attractive friends.

(But truly, I hope all is well.)

Fitz,

Are you mad? You could do plenty worse than Miss Zabini. I can only imagine what sort of situation you found yourself in, and I'm sorry it was not a decision you were able to make for yourself, but at least it was such an attractive woman a woman mother cannot find too many faults in. She seems like the sort mother would have seen you paired off with, anyways, and I will be sure to remind her of such if I hear her plotting all the ways in which she can kill you.

I have stories to share with you as well, though none nearly exciting as an elopement. Those can wait, though.

Freddie

UNSENT:

What in GOD'S name possessed you to make such a decision? Do you have any idea what our mother will —

Brother,
Are you a insane? You just escaped death on the shipwreck, but you're a fool if you think our mother will let you live after  —

Fitz,
Oh, brother...

I must say, I find it incredibly ironic that you may have just narrowly escaped one of the worst sea voyages in the history of the British Ministry of Magic and yet you seem determined to redeem the ticket that death seems to have handed back to you in the form of facing our mother. I shall make my way over to her residence this evening to try and calm her down in advance of your return.

Make no mistake, I do have questions, Fitzroy, though I shall hold you in esteem (cherish it, dear brother, for depending on your story you may find yourself lacking in my patience in the future) at least long enough for our mother to hopefully calm down. I shall direct any sort of medical bill I accrue from the encounter to you.

That said, I am glad you're alright and I do look forward to meeting the newest Mrs. Prewett.

Fitz,

Alright, not to lose the plot a bit here, but how did you end up married? Last I checked you weren't planning on it.

I'll tell you all about my general woes when you get back.
