Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Did you know? Jewelry of jet was the haute jewelry of the Victorian era. — Fallin
Debutante versus debutante seemed like the fairest sort of match there could be, though Tybalt wasn't sure how much duelling practice debutantes usually got in their day-to-day lives, nor what kind of spells would be in their repertoire.
At any rate, he ran thoroughly through the rules before they turned to the niceties and then to the duel itself. "Miss Lestrange, if you would begin!"

Tybalt had been impressed by the non-verbal commencement, but they did not get a chance to see how powerful it might have been, because the shield charm held expertly well against it. Tybalt shot a smile at Miss Harrington - a fellow former Gryffindor, no less. "Point to Miss Harrington," he announced brightly, "who may open the next round!"
She'd done it. She couldn't celebrate yet, but she'd successfully blocked the other woman's spell. With resolve, Vanessa began the second round — by attempting to transfigure her opponent into a dove.
Tatiana pursed her lips in displeasure; she did not like losing, especially to a nobody. With redoubled resolve, the witch fired a rather nasty stinging hex at her opponent with the aim of striking swiftly enough to throw the chit off balance.
Apparently a debutante's revenge was swift and merciless, because before Miss Harrington could so much as get out her incantation, the stinging hex had hit her. Tybalt winced, undid the worst of the effects, and then cleared his throat to say, "Miss Lestrange evens the score, and may take us into the tie-breaking round!"
The smile she offered her opponent was not one of joy but one of promise: Tatiana Lestrange was not a woman to be vexed. Just to hammer that point home, she cast a spell to cause the other deb to break out in pockmarks—ones that would not dissipate without some degree of medical intervention.
Miss Harrington's shield might have held well if only it had come a second sooner: as it was, her skin had been rather - distressed - by nasty looking pockmarks. Tybalt tried to counter the charm, but didn't seem to have managed to lessen its effects, so, with an apologetic smile, he sent Miss Harrington off to the healer on duty in commiseration and announced Miss Lestrange the winner.
