First thing
Miss Abernathy? Fallon? S?,

You tell me.

I hope today finds you feeling warmer and a little more human, however I've included some warm socks and a scarf in the package just in case. You'll fins the letters that were left on your desk as well, for your amusement. Don't think me too soft after you read them.

Hopefully today will be quiet for you, doesn't look like it for me, so I may not be able to swing by until the end if the work day.
Yours,
JP

Morning
JP,
Fallon is fine, unless you have a preference. Some friends and coworkers call me Abernathy if you find Fallon to be too intimate.

Thank you for the scarf and socks. I put them on instantly and they're incredibly warm. Don't think they'll be removed any time soon.

Don't stress about not being able to visit if you get busy. By now you probably know the man I was locked in the Arctic with, Lachlan MacFusty - yes the one from the bludger incident,
is unconcious and has been since we got back. Not that anyone saw fit to tell me that I may have killed him after spending a bloody week keeping him alive. He flew most of our attempts off the ice, so I think that's why he's so ill and I'm not. By the end he was lethargic and obviously dying, but I thought us getting back home had saved him.

I'm sorry for going on. He just doesn't deserve to die for my mistake.

If you can make it, I'd be happy to see you.
Yours,
Fallon

Lunchtime
Fallon,

Fallon it is, I'm still amused by JP, I haven't really been called that since school, by but all means keep using it.

I'm glad to hear that the socks and scarf have helped, I picked them up on my way home last night on a whim. Seemed to suit you and the situation.

I'm sorry to hear about Mr. MacFusty, it sounds like the whole ordeal was quite gruesome. Having somebody with you though likely kept you alive. Plus you said it yourself, your bodies need time to warm up again, his is repairing as best it can save the staff at St. Mungo's is the best I've ever worked with, your Miss Skovgaard included.

Please don't ever be sorry about sharing what's on your mind, it's what fiance's are for.

I thought I might be able to sneak away at lunch, but I'm slammed flat out today. Sending sweets must be almost as good? Chocolate frogs, right?
Yours,
JP

Afternoon
JP,
It fits you, or at least the version of you that I know. I'd offer to switch to Jesse, but I must admit I'm a bit attached to JP.

A few of the nurses have chuckled at my being all bundled up. One said it's a tad warm today. Is that true? They won't let me out of bed, nevermind out of the hospital.

They said his lungs are quite damaged, probably from having to breathe through the wind as we flew. Truthfully, I think they're sugarcoating his situation when I ask questions for fear that I'll have some sort of breakdown. I'm fine, really. A bit unnerved by fire, ironically. Just wish they'd stop treating me with kids gloves and be honest.

Chocolate frogs. You have a good memory. Please, don't feel obligated to visit. I understand a hectic work schedule.
Yours,
Fallon

Late afternoon
Fallon,

JP is perfectly fine, just don't start calling me Jesse Patrick or I'll think I'm in trouble for some reason.

It is rather warm today, but not sweltering. I'd have roasted to a crisp by now if I were you, but I've always run warm, according to my mother.

Extreme cold is one of those things a human body is not equipped to handle, but have faith in your friend and the healers. It sounds like there's still hope. He'll pull through, he's a MacFusty, they deal with dragons on the regular. I would give yourself and everyone else some grace to deal with the situation, it is not so cut and dry.

Unnerved by fire though, so you should have slapped me for conjuring some last night? Don't I feel like an idiot. No fire from here on out, got it.

Barring any emergency situations, and after a quick stop going to change, I'll be around after dinner. I said I would stop by and so I shall. Not an obligation at all, but a choice I'd very much like to follow through on.
Until then,
JP

Late Afternoon
JP,
I'll reserve Jesse Patrick for when you inevitably frustrate me as all significant others are bound to do.

I think any sane person would have roasted by now. A few blankets have made their way to the end of the bed, but not many. Hopefully by the time I'm released to go home I won't require such a mess of blankets. Malou and I don't own this many.

I suppose you're right. It's hard not to fret over him after doing so in such conditions. He obviously had never gone through auror training, so most of the magic work had fallen to me. They said not to feel responsible for whatever happens, but how can I not? It was my careless mistake that got us sent to there in the first place. When I felt the pull of the portkey I went to steady my hand on the bartop and landed on him instead. If not for that he would've been safe here and I could've figured out how to survive on my own. I don't know. Just feel guilty, I guess.

As for the fire, it was something I wasn't aware of until you summoned it. And it was such a thoughtful move on your part I didn't have the heart to tell you. It's alright, truly. Makes me panic a bit is all.

I'll see you then.
Yours,
Fallon

Lunch Time
JP,
I'm sorry I haven't written until now. It's been a hectic few days.

On the bright side, I'm home now. Not returning to work until I pass the fitness tests (which is utter nonsense in my opinion because I'm fine). Malou took the next two days off, too, to help me settle in. I really wish she hadn't wasted the time, but she wouldn't hear of it. Apparently, when your best friend is nearly frozen to death by an unknown assassin there's a need to stay close by. Who knew?

I'd offer to have you over for dinner, however we're under strict restrictions as to who goes in and out of the flat for the time being. They're also not permitting me back to work until the case is solved. So, more time to pass the fitness test, I guess? I'm already going stir crazy

As for the fiance thing (did you think I wouldn't address the elephant in the room?), I'm not ready to get married. But, I would like to get to know you better. Is that enough for now?
Yours,
Fallon

Fallon,

No apology necessary, I'm relieved to hear you've been deemed well enough to go home. Of course having a healer for a roommate to keep an eye on you probably makes it quite easy to get discharged.

I think the elephant got a little too large, and a little out of hand. I don't think you need anymore trouble in your life right now.

I hope you have a speedy recovery and the case is solved soon so things settle down.
Best,
JP

Guess it wasn't enough, then.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness and consideration.

evening
Fallon,

I'm sorry.

I thought it would be easy to keep up the ease of the letters even after the anonymity was broken. It was for a little bit too, but then reality came crashing down around me and how irresponsible I was being. I was caught up, but being careless and I shouldn't have been so cavalier about the possible repercussions that could rebound on you. The last thing I wanted to do was make things more difficult after what you'd been trough already.
Best,
JP

Night
Mr. Hatchitt,
I get it.

The possible repercussions were ones I was willing to accept, not that you asked. I didn't want to be engaged, forgive me for not realizing how terrible a slight that was.

You're right about one thing, though, it did get out of hand and I should probably focus on my recovery. Best of luck to you.
