Appearance:
Eloise, like each of her sisters, is on the shorter side, standing at five feet two inches. She is always impeccably dressed and has a knack for knowing what the next trend will be. Her hair falls to her lower waist in bright blond waves, though it's usually kept up in some intricate design. She has ice blue eyes that are constantly tracking the happenings at any event. Eloise is left handed.History:
1862: Eloise comes into the world as a screaming mess of a baby. She is a collicky baby, content only when held. The nurses are all relieved to see she grows out of such tendencies.Personality: Extroverted. Romantic. Dutiful. Prideful. Ambitious. Intelligent.
1863: Evelyn arrives, though Eloise is too young to truly think on it.
1864: The addition of William to the family greatly upsets the two year old Eloise. In a rare burst of young magic (toddlers generally weren't the sort to exhibit signs, after all) Eloise sets the curtains in the nursery aflame. She's directed away from the baby for a long while after that.
1866: Rosalind is born, and Eloise is less surprised by her new sister than she was with William. Eloise maintains her distance, considering the near catastrophe surrounding William's birth.
1867: She's five when the (should've been) last of her siblings is born. Eloise, having gotten accustomed to the continued additions to the family, pays baby Ellory no mind.
1873: Naturally, much unlike Regan, Eloise is sorted into Slytherin. She rather dislikes the placement of the common room (the towers seem so beautiful in comparison to a dorm beneath a lake). Regardless, Eloise sits through her classes much like she sat through lessons with her governess and achieves decent enough grades. It's also this year she begins to befriend her childhood acquaintance, Julius Scrimgeour.
1875: Eloise elects to adopt Arthimancy and Divination in her third year.
1877: The summer before her fifth year is brightened by the shiny, perfect Prefect badge. Eloise pins it to her robes immediately and flashes it whenever possible. However, her dedication to the role is tested in December when her friendship with Julius Scrimgeour becomes something more. The line is never crossed, nothing truly untoward can ever be said of them, but Eloise knows it for what it is — love.
1879: Grandfather William dies days before she is to sit for her OWLs. Eloise, having been taught compartmentalization since infancy, buries her grief until after the test.
1880: The summer following her graduation is the best of her life. She's the darling of her Season and receives every invitation to every event. Eloise dances until her feet bleed and steals whatever moments with Julius she can. However, summer comes to a grinding halt as Olivia announces a match has been made for her. Mr. Linford Manwaring, an American, is to be her husband. Eloise manages her composure until confessing the happenings to Julius. Together, they decide to elope after the new year (if only to have one last holiday with their families). Weeks of planning and preparation go by as the sinking feeling builds in Eloise's stomach. And on Christmas morning, during what would be their last stolen moment, they end their affair. Eloise cannot set such a horrible example for her sisters, and Julius had duties as his family's heir. There's nothing to be done. Eloise spends the week following Christmas sullen and insistent upon her space.
1881: On what she views to be amongst the hardest days of her life, Eloise marries Linford the week of her nineteenth birthday. Julius, along with his family, are in attendance, though neither make any attempt to converse. Eloise Manwaring sounds so awful in comparison with Eloise Scrimgeour, but what is she to do? It's a daughter's duty to abide by her family's wishes, regardless of the personal cost. Linford and she soon set off on their honeymoon through the continent; it's the last time she's able to consider England as her home.
1882: Eloise's delight to return to England is tempered by the fact that her elder brother, the heir to the family, is marrying at twenty-one. The oddities continue well into the year when Regan and Aoife announce the birth of twins before the year's end. Philip's birth in November is enough to deter Eloise from commenting on such scandals. As where Aoife has birthed twin girls, Eloise has a son. It's with great reluctance that she hands her prized jewel over to the wet nurse.
1883: Evelyn's wedding and Regan's heir being born are the only positives to come from this year. Olivia has a late life pregnancy that results in twins! As though a late life pregnancy wasn't unlucky enough!
1884: Death plagues the Pendergast family during the summer, completely overshadowing the birth of Evelyn's firstborn son. Her youngest brother, Warwick, her father, Philip, and Regan's son, Duncan, all succumb to the laughing plague. Eloise and Linford mutually decide to leave Philip at home when they head to England to pay their respects (the return being made only after a cure had been found). Surprisingly, Olivia opens a finishing school in the fall.
1885: Lester, the result of Eloise seeking comfort in Linford rather than any desire to continue bearing children, is born in early April. To say she's disappointed to not have a daughter (especially after Evelyn gave birth to her own not even two months prior!) is an understatement. Never the less, Eloise takes to her son as easily as she did Philip, though he's handed to the nurse much easier than her firstborn had been.
1886: Eloise is delighted to return to England for Rosalind's wedding. It's to be a splendid affair and the family is thrilled for another daughter to be successfully married off. That is, at least, until Rosalind leaves her fiance at the altar! The Manwaring's return to New York sooner than anticipated to escape the scandal (and Olivia's ire). When the letter comes requesting Rosalind to stay in America with them, Eloise is hardly surprised. The arrangements are made and soon enough Eloise has Rose as a permanent guest in her home.
1887: Rosalind's introductory season to American Society is abruptly ended when the news of their mother's death reaches across the sea. It isn't until she's standing besides her mother's grave that the reality sinks in. The week of preparations and travel hadn't permitted for any emotion other than sheer determination. Linford, ever the intuitive man, apparates them both from the cemetery before Eloise's knees give out beneath her. With less than three days before returning to America (and after several days of being miserably cooped up), Eloise runs into Julius for the first time since 1880. She'd heard about the scandal surrounding Annabelle (who hadn't) and they part on amicable terms. Upon her return to New York, Eloise writes the first of what will be many letters to Julius, causing the two to begin to fall back into their old patterns.
1888: Olivia Helene is born in mid-summer, forcing Eloise to be confined for most of Rose's Season. The chaperone hired reports only minimal details of Rose's actions, none of which are favorable to marriage. Eloise huffs in frustration and swears to devote herself to fully devote herself to Rose the following year. Evelyn has another daughter.
1889: Although Rose has the impeccable manners of a debutante she lacks the drive to secure herself a husband. Eloise personally escorts her all around Society, making all the proper introductions and subtly pushing Rose towards eligible bachelors. None stick and it's infuriating.
1890: Eloise is a tad suspicious when the month of cousin weddings is announced, though she's elated to have the opportunity to visit all the same. The Manwaring's (and Rose) arrive back in England a week before the nuptials and it takes little convincing for Linford to permit them to stay for the summer. It's been nearly a decade of marriage with no complaints from Eloise, after all. She's earned a summer at home with her family.
