Jameson Potter vs. Georgianna Shacklebolt
#1
8th February, 1895 — The Great Hall, Hogwarts
First years again. What tremendous fun. Fighting the urge to roll his eyes already, Phineas reminded them of the rules.

“Mr. Jameson to start,” he intoned.

Jameson Potter & Georgianna Shacklebolt

Jameson Potter was pratcially vibrating with excitement, the only thing keeping him wholly in check the foreboding expression of the school's headmaster. (It seemed ludicrous to the first year that Phineas was related to this man!) The Ravenclaw had joined the school's dueling club as soon as he had been made aware of it, and was eager to practice the skills he had been learning.

Politely, he bowed to Miss Shacklebolt before moving to cast, "Flipendo!"

Gia had won her first duel! She was so excited she almost tripped, exiting the platform for the first time. Still grinning when her name was announced for the second round, Gia hopped right over the first step. She was overflowing with enthusiasm, her smile going wider as she was paired up with her fellow Ravenclaw. Good, at least this way Ravenclaw got points no matter what happened. Curtseying to Mr. Potter (and trying to ignore the frightening Headmaster), Gia raised her wand. "Protego!"

Pathetic, the pair of them. But of course a first year could not cast a shield charm to save their life – presumably their professors were busy teaching them downright useless rot instead.

"Point to Potter. Miss Shacklebolt, your second chance."

Well, that hadn't gone as she liked, but each pass meant experience, and experience meant learning. What could be more fun than that? Giving herself a little shake, Gia tried again, "Expelliarmus!"

Though he was quite aware that he had not impressed the headmaster, Jameson was still quite pleased to have garnered the first point of the round. Rather than copy Miss Shacklebolt in a shield charm, he hoped to disarm her before she could complete her own casting.

They both did better this round – although Phineas was still too busy mourning his own younger son's prior failure to pay his classmates much mind. "Potter," he declared distractedly, after a quick glance to see which of them had been successfully disarmed, "you win."
