Welcome to Charming, where swirling petticoats, the language of flowers, and old-fashioned duels are only the beginning of what is lying underneath…
After a magical attempt on her life in 1877, Queen Victoria launched a crusade against magic that, while tidied up by the Ministry of Magic, saw the Wizarding community exiled to Hogsmeade, previously little more than a crossroad near the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In the years that have passed since, Hogsmeade has suffered plagues, fires, and Victorian hypocrisy but is still standing firm.
Thethe year is now 1895. It’s time to join us and immerse yourself in scandal and drama interlaced with magic both light and dark.

Did You Know?
Did you know? Jewelry of jet was the haute jewelry of the Victorian era. — Fallin
Mr. Osei had had a bye in the first round, propelling him directly into the second unchallenged. Part of Nell could not help but wonder at the fairness of this, but it was certainly superior to denying students entry into the tournament on the basis of odd-numbers. Besides, the nature of the draw was that anyone could make it to the second round: the two best could be faced off against one another, as well as the two worst. Deftly, the professor reminded the young wizards of the rules before directing the Gryffindor to begin the duel.

Rufus did not enjoy waiting. It was not his strong suit, really, and as soon as his name was called he jumped up from the bench he had been lounging around on, impatiently tapping his fingers on his knees. He jumped onto his long legs and sauntered over to meet Paxton Fudge in the great hall. "Fudge," he grinned and bowed more exaggeratedly than was needed. Rufus loved duels. He loved anything fast-paced and he loved winning, which he was keen on and pretty sure about.
Because he was not for half measures, he started in with a swift flick of his wand. "Stupefy," he said, but it was a feint and the red lightning barely even gathered together. His left hand shot up at the same time and formed the gesture of the horned beast, to saddle Mr. Fudge with a pair of giant buffalo horns that would grow over his eyes and be so heavy that they might have him fall right over head-first. It was a curse he learned from a warlock of his Ashanti homeland and he tested it on a few unsuspecting targets before, and to his great amusement.
While Nell did not have nearly the eyesight in her human form as she did in her animagus, her eyes were still quite good: she had noticed the hairsbredth of time that had decided the duel. A fraction of a fraction of a second was all it would have needed for the Hufflepuff to come out on top, but the Gryffindor had been swifter, stunning Mr. Fudge in the instant between cast and effect, and also, impresively, adding horns to the badger—now where had those come from?
After reviving the Hufflepuff, Nell awarded Osei the first point of the match, then bid Fudge to cast when ready.
