THE INHERITENCE HUNGER GAMES

Hello friends!  Before we get started, I do have a few policies regarding my adoptables:
  • Please reserve your character with me before apping!
  • Obviously, I'd prefer activity from anyone to take these on XD If, after six months, I don't think you're doing much with them (I have very lax standards, don't worry!), I reserve the right to ask you to give them up so someone more active may take them on.
  • I'll give you two weeks after loosing a character in an AC before I put them back up for grabs! If you drop them via Maintenance, they become immediately available again. If you just want to temp drop them, talk to me first! :)
  • Anyone picking up one of my ads must include the family and personality sections. I provide the family in all my applications so just mentioning the names is quite fine by me. Personality can be as minimal as three basic traits, just so I know for sure that our ideas of the character mesh.
If you have any questions about any of the characters below, fire off a PM to Aldous Crouch, catch me on Discord, or stalk me in the cbox ;)

Dramatis Personae

Erasmus is a consummate Slytherin: he always wants more, and as far as he is concerned, damn well deserves it. This extended to his romantic life where, in addition to the traditional wife, he took a lover, Emmeline Picquery, in New York, which he frequented. The two were linked for many years, resulting in the birth of one Albion Picquery.

Names are flexible. Ethnicities should be either black or white.*
* Obviously first on board will have a great deal of impact here xD

Our Patriarch

THE HEAD OF THE FAMILY
[Image: x7MbIzx.jpeg]
1830ish | UCPB/UCHB | SLYTHERIN | BUSINESS/WIZENGAMOT*
Erasmus did something out of character when he learned of his youngest's death: he recognized he had made a mistake. None of his children, in his estimation, were worth inheriting what he had amassed in his life—indeed, born to the lower reaches of the middle class, he had climbed quite far in his decades of life. True, that was mostly their shortcomings, but also his own.

Time for a ringer, then.

Erasmus and Albion have never been close, nor has their relationship been a very paternal one, but Erasmus believes he loves all his children, and believing is just as good as that actually being the case. Besides, his boy is sensible, capable, and the only embarrassment about him is his birth—something that can surely be overcome. Best case scenario, as Erasmus sees it, Albion's arrival kicks his other children into gear. Worst case, the American proves to be the best man for the job. Either way, it's going to be entertaining.

Erasmus is charismatic and good-humoured, but not a fool. Why he kept Albion a secret is up to you! Pictured PB is Denzel Washington.

THE GARDEN TOOL
[Image: hMciYKo.jpeg]
1865-1869 | UCAB | GRYFFINPUFF | PROFESSIONAL QUIDDITCH
The eldest son until that other one strode through the door, Scorpius is, by all accounts, the product of privilege. The Problem, According to Erasmus: he is a quidditch player and has absolutely zero ambition. Well, he has always possessed drive, it's just been directed in wholly wrong areas. A gambling ring during his Hogwarts years. Collecting women like pokemon cards. He is a rake, through and through, and while reformed rakes might make the best husbands, Erasmus isn't certain this one will reform enough to lead the family into the next generation.

His initial reactions to Albion's arrival have centered around indignation and amusement, oscillating between the two quite frequently. Once Ursa starts whispering in his ear, will jealousy rear its ugly head? Will broom sports be enough to bond the brothers? Pictured is Rome Flynn

THE MUNDANE

1867-1871 | UC SQUIB | SLYTHERDOR | GENTLEMAN OF LEISURE
Cygnus is, by all accounts, a good person. He is intelligent and just. The Problem, According to Erasmus: He also has no magic. At all. Not a single, magical bone in his body. In the muggle world, he would have been the ideal heir, but this is a whole other ball game.

His initial reactions to Albion's arrival have centered around shock and confusion, but may turn to distrust once Ursa starts whispering in his ear. Pictured is Alfred Enoch

THE BRAINS OF THE OPERATION
[Image: SAPpEeR.jpeg]
1870-1875 | UCAB | SLYTHERCLAW | DEBUTANTE FOR NOW
The only daughter, Ursa inherited the best and worst from her parents. From her mother, beauty and the gift of anticipating the needs and desires around her, but also a bitter streak. From her father, a shrewd mind and charisma, but also an innate insincerity that even she doesn't quite realize. The Problem, According to Erasmus: she is a woman. It's as simple as that. Look, Erasmus was an early adopter of the concept of the American Dream, but even he's too conservative to apply that to women. She will be lovely and marry well and then he will see her on holidays. She, however, is not at all content with this.

Of all the children, Ursa is the only one to see Albion's arrival as what it is a threat. She will try to get her brother's on side, to create a united front—but this chess; it requires a longer game. Pictured is Arsema Thomas

THE ICE QUEEN
[Image: MYHP5PV.jpeg]
1840-1848 | UCAB | NOT HUFFLEPUFF | SOCIALITE
To say [b]Lenore was startled when her husband's son showed up at her London address is... an understatement. Absolutely livid is probably closer to the mark. This ire is directed most fully at her husband—though never outside the family; she would never air dirty laundry. To Albion, she maintains a tactic of simply pretending he isn't there. Even at the same dinner table. Pictured is Lena Headey

Potential Ties: The women of society, you know how one does.

THE WEE GHOSTIE
[Image: mOUCgtt.jpeg]
1878 | UCPB/UCHB | OPEN HOUSE | SPIRITUAL NUISANCE
Rigel was born the baby of the family, but now, is doomed to roam the earth long after the rest of them are dead. A freak accident at the 92/93 new year took the lad's life but he was not about to shuffle off the mortal plane. Enter: his ghost era. His parents and siblings are all varying degrees of horrified that he's still ~around. Fortunately, he spends most of the school term with his friends/causing problems at Hogwarts. Pictured PB is Miles Brown.

Potential Ties: James Fletcher Tennyson Halstead Benedict Hunter Yuri Podsnapper Cadogan Glynn Charles Whymper Basel Meighan Fortitude Greengrass Sapphire Weasley Desiderius Morgan; other Hogwarts students and staff

THE ALLY?
1855-1867 | UCAB/MCAB | OPEN HOUSE | OPEN OCCUPATION
Lenore's nephew, Clifford grew up with a generally good relationship with his cousins, and is the sort to ingratiate himself with those around him. He and Albion develop a tentative friendship not long after the latter's arrival. Is it genuine, though, or has Clifford worked out Erasmus' intentions—and decided to try to steal the metaphorical crown for himself? Pictured is Fabien Frankel.

Could be filled by an existing character!

Immediate Ties: Albion Picquery

Blythe's Plottables

Hello friends!  Before we get started, I do have a few policies regarding my adoptables:
Show

THE MUGGLE
[Image: 3b9KJ4h.jpg]
B. 1863-1868 | WCM | ???
During the Dragoning (London, 14th September 1893), Blythe became separated from her aunt in the chaos and wound up taking shelter in Muggle London with The Muggle, a muggle (go figure) who was surprisingly calm for learning that dragons are real and might eat them at any moment (calm is relative after all). For his kindness, Blythe did something very uncharacteristic: she had him flee before the obliviators could erase his memory of the event. She also did something very characteristic: became infatuated with a man she met all of once. That "once" is what we're angling to change here... PB is hella open, but pictured is Lewis Tan.

Requested For: Blythe Fairchild

THE STEPMOTHER
[Image: S5GxpHe.jpeg]
B. 1860-1870 | WCAB | MANDIRA ALUMNA | WIFE
Has your father ever ditched you to go off to India, coming home only every couple years in the time since and trusting your upbringing to your aunt? You and Blythe have something in common. Has he ever remarried, and you only found out by the arrival of his pregnant new wife in your parlour? No? Just Blythe? Dang.

Probably born and definitely raised in India, this is Stepmomma's first time in Britain. She's also in the earlier stages of pregnancy (3-4 months) when she arrives, heightening her anxiety. She will do her best to form a bond with Blythe, but it is understandably very awkward. At least she has the Church, in whcih she was raised, as a comfort. Suggested PB is Freida Pinto.

Immediate Ties: Blythe Fairchild

For Morrigan

The Seldens, originally from the Midwestern United States, are an upper Middle Class family with a dark secret — there is an apparent blood curse that has impacted the family since 1785. Female Seldens die of a "wasting illness" that healing magic can't touch. Morrigan here has been researching dark magic — going so far as to make an Unbreakable Vow — for the past decade+ of her life in an attempt to break the curse.

Lear Selden

B. 1862 | MCHB | OPEN HOUSE | OPEN OCCUPATION
Lear is Mor's older brother, although the pair have never been close —  Lear has always been worried that Morrigan is going to drop dead. He is, accordingly, flexible — if Lear was born before September of 1862, he would have attended Ilvermorny, and if he was born after September he would have attended Hogwarts. Dealer's choice! Unlike Mor and "Edgar," Lear is not particularly interested in the curse. Since his father selling the business demonstrably didn't solve the curse, Lear is moderately annoyed that he was not able to have a shoe-in job. Lear is also homosexual and does not have an incredible history of discretion — whether he went to Ilvermorny or Hogwarts, he did almost get caught with another man his Seventh Year, and his tendency to let romantic sensibilities overtake his sensibilities is inevitably going to have additional consequences...

Pictured is Sacha M'Baye, with alternatives to be black or mixed race.

"Edgar Curtis"

B. 1863-1867 | MCHB | ILVERMORNY | CURSEBREAKER/ACADEMIC/SIMILAR
Morrigan's cousin, Edgar has been tight with Mor since childhood, particularly via letter. He attended Ilvermorny, and threw himself into researching their curse after his sister Margaret died in 1881. He has recently come to join the family in Britain in order to observe Morrigan, which is something she... does not particularly care for, actually! Two ways you can go with this 1) Edgar as reluctant-turned-eager scientist, who is tbh more interested in his obsession with the curse than he is in solving it; 2) Edgar is a Good Person who will do anything to save his family from what has befallen them. (Anything?) I will say that because Edgar has had to "have a job," Morrigan is actually ahead of him on research into their particular curse — whether she'll tell him that or not remains to be seen.

Pictured is Kelvin Harrison Jr., with alternatives to be black or mixed race.

Newland Selden

B. 1835 | MCHB | ILVERMORNY | FORMER SHIPPING BUSINESS OWNER, NOW ???
Morrigan's father, Newland, was raised to take over the family business when his older brother had no head for numbers (or interest.) He did just that, married Blanche Thwaite fairly young, and started having children — and losing his daughters to the curse. After Blanche died in 1870, and after the Great Chicago Fire impacted their business offices, Newland began doing large amounts of research into the curse. He also married a British woman, sold the business off, and moved to Britain. He is incredibly indulgent of Morrigan, and has a strained relationship with Lear. His now-wife and younger sons are super flexible, (so if anyone wants to plug in as in-laws that's available, and generally you have free reign to do what you want with them!)

Pictured is Laurence Fishburne, with alternatives to be black or mixed race.
