"...examine winged horses more broadly, focusing on the subspecies of your own selection," the professor explained as she introduced the essay to the class. The precise winged horse one chose to hone in on could reveal quite a bit about an individual, though Nell doubted very much that the students themselves recognized this fact.

"Don't worry," Nell added kindly, "I shall not condemn you to spend the entireity of your weekend in the library. Rather than monday, your essay shall be due one week from today."

Some of the faces appeared relieved, others apprehensive still—particularly for seventh years, the reality of a NEWT workload had well and truly sunk in by now; even a month, she suspected, would not be long enough for their comfort.

Winged horses - Abraxans

Homework assignment for Benedict Hunter.

Winged horses are one of the reasons I feel lucky to be a wizard as, due to mismatch between their weight and their wingspan, they would be a biological impossibility in the muggle world with the average winged having a wingspan only around twice to four times that of the largest flying birds that typically weigh less than thirty pounds.

The greatest of the species in my opinion Is the Abraxan, a flying horse the size of an elephant. They are beautiful creatures and surprisingly elegant. They usually have red eyes and palamino colouring. They are one of the largest flying mammals and must almost continously eay if the wish to sustain flight for Long periods.
