Good King Morgan
#1
December 12th, 1894 — Castle Grounds, on the way to the greenhouse

"Good King Wenceslas looked out
On the Feast of Stephen
When the snow lay round about
Deep and crisp and even"

Morgan Valenduris made her way to the greenhouses singing the carol to herself - in a good mood since caring for her plants had to be one of her favourite things to do . The tune... well, she’d been stuck with that from the moment she'd seen the snow that morning and realised it looked so deep... and crisp... and even... and from that moment the tune had haunted her. It had been hours now and whilst the tune was well and truly stuck... she honestly did not mind.

The snow was breathtaking and had transformed the grounds into a pure white unspoiled wintery delight though she couldn't help but feel slightly sad that her steps through the snow were wrecking it's perfection... it was what it was and it’s presence meant that the frost was most certainly in and whilst she trusted the professor’s enchantments to keep the greenhouse warm, she couldn’t resist checking on her plants - her babies - herself. Besides, she had a list of questions and secretly hoped she’d run into the professor to share them.
Her thoughts briefly wandered to her family’s greenhouses. Of course, those would be protected; they always had been. Her parents had taken great pride in them longer than she had been alive - after all what was a Potion Master without his ingredients?
Lost in thought, Morgan jumped into a fresh snowdrift, the soft powder scattering at her boots. She giggled at the satisfying crunch. It was definitely deep and crisp and even. She paused for a moment, until the words of next verse came to her and she sung them as well, trying to make her voice go as low as she could for the notes at the end.

"Brightly shone the moon that night,
Though the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight,
Gathering winter fuel."

She was trying to remember the next verse when something caught her eye: someone on their hands and knees, frantically digging through the snow.

Morgan paused, frowning slightly. For a moment, she debated walking on. Whoever it was seemed intent on their task, and honestly, she didn’t relish the idea of freezing her hands while helping them.

The thought was quickly chased away by her mama’s voice in her head chiding her about being helpful when she could and that Christmas was a time to help those less fortunate than oneselves - The annual grotto her parents organized, where children met her father dressed as Father Christmas and received gifts, was just one example of her parents dedication to helping those less fortunate.

'It's not like it wont cost you anything.' she repeated again to herself herself and headed over to the person who now seemed a little more panicked as they dug through the snow.

"Did you lose something?" She asked, in what she hoped was her most perky, upbeat and most of all helpful voice.
