“Amadi, scoot! Thank you. How can you sleep when it’s so close? The next seven years - no! - everything will be different after we get there. Remember what mama says? The hat makes the decision on the first night. We have to make an impression.”

"You always make an impression. You're so talented, and you always have something to say about everything. You never let anyone discourage you, either, so why are you so worried, Adaku? It'll just be like when mama and papa go away and leave us at home, except longer this time, and with other kids around. Oh! Do you think a teacher gets to wear the hat at other times?"

“We are so talented. We. You are the best possible brother and I know mama and papa will be proud, but…I wish I was there now. We’ve waited our whole lives and now it’s taking forever. I know, I’m supposed to be patient. Oh! I want to wear it. Maybe it tells you what it knows about other people. That would be useful.”

"You'd have your own little Gia whispering in your ears. Aheehee. I wish we were already there, too. I can't wait for classes to start so we can do real spells. And I want to try out for Quidditch and be like Lonzo Tabiner, he's so fast! Zhoom!"

"Hehe! Two Gias! I could learn twice as many spells! OOH! I can't wait for charms. I bet I can change the color of dresses with the right spells. And Frog Choir! Mama was in the Frog Choir, too. I bet you'll be the fastest. Are you going to be a chaser? I bet you are the fastest."

"I'm already faster than papa when he lets me use his broom. Maybe he'll let me take it to Hogwarts, then I'll make the team for sure. And you can bring your frog to croak and cheer me on. Heehee, croaking cheer. I want to try potions, too, there's some that'll make your nose hairs curl."

"I don't have to bring my own frog, silly! Well, I don't think so. I don't much like frogs. And who wants curly nose hairs? That would be embarrassing. I think I can sleep now, I will ask mama about the frogs in the morning. Night, Desi. Happy quidditch dreams."
