Nick Blott vs. Trystan Selwyn
#1
April 28th, 1894 — Hogsmeade Memorial Assembly Rooms
Dueling Tournament

In yesterday's duel, Nikesh Blott had managed to look competent in comparison to Mr. Berkwood, which was so low a bar to clear it was buried beneath the ground. Pandora had very limited expectations for him when faced with a capable duelist such as Trystan Selwyn.

The witch reviewed the rules before voicing, "Mr. Blott, when you are ready."

He would likely never be ready, but had little choice but to begin.

Nick Blott casting first. You have 48 hours, or forfeit!

This was more than a fluke now. Nick didn't want to seem bigheaded, but the number of trained aurors left in this tournament with little old him surely said something profound about his talents. (Where was Auror Sandow to see him winning now?)

He bowed, and cast Incarcerous on Selwyn.

Trystan had almost been late to the dais today, having been flirting very seriously with the mediwitch on duty across the room. He'd barely gotten his wand out when Miss Foxglove bade them begin – but it was with an entirely careless flick of his wand that Trystan moved to stop the ropes in their tracks and whip them the other way, to roundly truss up their conjurer instead.

Coiled up in is own ropes, Blott rather resembled a sad attempt at a mummy. Pandora intervened, removing the ropes before they could cut of his circulation fully, though the remnants of their imprint remained upon his face as she declared Selwyn the winner and bid him cast next.

Trystan didn't want to embarrass the man, but it was his turn to attack now, so – he sought to transfigure Mr. Blott into a mole.

Hm. His face was smarting still, whether from the ropes or his own chagrin.

Really trying, now, he cast a knockback jinx. Simple. Straightforward. Effective?

One moment Blott was there, the next, he was gone, a pile of clothes where a man had once stood. Pandora supposed she should not have put it past Selwyn to opt for the more... risque version of the particular transfiguration spell. The small mole-Blott had darted off the stage by the time she had even fully grasped what had happened. He could be someone else's problem, then.

"Mr. Selwyn is our winner," Pandora confirmed, "and the audience is asked to please mind their feet until Mr. Blott is found."
