Did You Know?
Braces, or suspenders, were almost universally worn due to the high cut of men's trousers. Belts did not become common until the 1920s. — MJ
Had it really come to this? Passing Charles Macmillan back and forth like an upright booby prize?

Thaddeus Flint vs. Faustus Prewett

Dueling Tournament

Was it an ill omen for society, Robin wondered as he reviewed the rules of the tournament, if the head of the aurors lost a duel to a civilian? Indeed, aurors entering this tournament at all seemed rather like a minefield to him—either you won quite expectedly, or you lost, calling into question your capabilities. Robin would not have liked to be in those shoes, facing down such judgement.

"Mr. Flint to begin."

Thaddeus knew Faustus of course, they had been in auror training together, but that felt like a million years ago. He bowed to Prewett, and took the first position to cast. When told to commence he cast, hoping to disarm Prewett, not need to overcomplicate matters.

A shield charm was not creative, but this was a contest of efficacy, and the head auror's efforts certainly did the trick.

"First point, Prewett!" Robin announced, lacking the command of someone who did this at all professionally. "Mr. Prewett, the next pass," this was spoken to the gentleman directly.

Nodding at Rowle, Faustus waited until bade to begin the next pass. Then he waved his wand to try and make the platform beneath Flint's feet throw him off balance.

Robert Rowle

Robert was impressed and, were he to be entirely forthright, rather intimidated by the spectacle before him. The head auror and the head of the Flint Institute were well matched, but once again, it was Prewett who came out on top. Flint's shield charm, though perfectly swift and stable, protected him from things coming head on, not from things coming beneath, and the movement of the floor dropped the wizard to his knees.

"Congratulations to our winner, Mr. Faustus Prewett!" Robin announced with the gravitas of excellent boiled potatoes. "Well dueled indeed, gentlemen!"
